Pros: When I called in the morning they were able to get me in same day for a tire changeover Cons: Everything else. When you arrive it's unclear where you go to drop your car off. I wasn't sure if I line up at one of the garages or park and go inside. The parking lot was completely filled. So I took the first option. I was quoted one hour, and said I was going to get picked up to grab lunch, they said no problem we will call when the car is done. 4 hours passed, I called to see if the car was done. Thankfully. When I got in my car to leave one of the tire sensors was flashing telling me I had a flat tire. Which obviously I didn't. I went back inside and asked for my sensor to be reset. The guy at the desk was extremely rude and told me if my sensor wasn't working then it wasn't working when I brought it in. I was kind in letting him no I brought my car in with no issues other than the studs needing to be changed out for the season. He had someone grab my keys and reset the sensor for me. I didn't go back inside just grabbed my car and left. I am 99.8% sure a pair of sunglasses I left in the center console were swiped. I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't say anything but I'm very confident in that. Lastly. The price. I've been paying $70-90 for tire changeovers. This was $120! To sum it up - I don't recommend this place and will never be coming back.

The first time it was engine overheating problem and I figured the water pump or thermostat was the issue and was prepared to pay big bucks. They called a little while later and said a coolant hose clamp has come loose and leaked. They replaced the clamp and charged something nominal like $30. More recently I had my car into Kendall Toyota for a recall and they said in multipoint inspection that my brakes were at 3 to 5 mm remaining and needed replacement. I took the car to R&R for brake job and oil change. A little while later R&R called and said no need to do the brakes yet, that they have plenty of life left and just to keep an eye on it. Saved me almost $500. They could've had me so easily. I will keep going back to R&R.

Even with my stressful situation, everyone was incredibly kind, understanding, and willing to help. They treated me with respect from the moment I arrived and made a bad day so much easier. I would recommend Independent Auto Care to anyone looking for a trustworthy, friendly, and reliable mechanic. If I ever need automotive repairs again, they'll be my first call. If you have a Volvo, Tarn and his team at Independent Auto are going to become your good friends…read more Why? Because Volvos, while nice, are one of the most unreliable brands of car you can buy. They are consistently in the bottom quarter for reliability whether you're looking at JD Power or Consumer reports. If you're a Volvo owner that doesn't believe me, either A) you got lucky or B) you value anecdotes over data. Here is the 2022 Consumer Reports Auto Reliability Report rankings of major automotive brands: 1. Lexus 2. Mazda 3. Toyota 4. Infiniti 5. Buick 6. Honda 7. Subaru 8. Acura 9. Nissan 10. Mini 11. I was "subscribed" to a Volvo for 2 years and, fell in love. At the end of the subscription, all my payments counted towards the principle and...it just felt stupid to NOT buy it. Now, Volvo is steadily making its money back through maintenance and part costs. This is a 2019 car (XC40) and, already, the driver's side seat heater stopped working. Tarn and his team looked into it, ordered another heating coil and...it still wasn't working. They said I would have to go to the Volvo dealership. You could tell that he said this with sadness in his voice. I have an appointment at Volvo for October 17th, they are charging me $200+ just to DIAGNOSE the seat heater issue. My previous car, a 2006 Acura TL, had 170,000 miles on it over 11 years and never had an issue with any of its seat heaters. Tarn was able to help with my 60,000 mile brake job. The brakes were grinding and his team replaced them for an eye-watering $1,570. After doing lots of research...that seems to be the going rate, not a hideous mark-up. Insane. It took a while for Independent to get the parts. I left my car with them while I was in Fairbanks for work for a week and came back and...they still didn't have the parts. They were kind throughout the whole process and explained to me the issues. And, when they finally attempted the seat heater (that they ultimately couldn't fix, sadly.) they gave me a Volvo loaner car to use, and they didn't charge me to diagnose the issue...as the dealership already has committed to.

BEST. AUTO SHOP. HANDS-DOWN!!!…read more Service was quick, efficient, and reasonable. Moved here about a year ago and everyone has their favorite places, but this is ours. Used to take our 98 Chevy truck to L & M and no longer will. Our truck has been having issues starting after the long haul on the Al-can. Put in an engine block heater, then an alternator, and then brakes needed replaced, then new shocks, seemed it was always something new L&M told us, and figured since the truck is older and has a lot of miles, sure this all needs replaced. But after putting in $2K in a truck that may not be worth it got us searching for a new place and now we have found our one-stop-shop. We were having starting issues again and thought this time it was the starter, but after a thorough exam from these guys they said it was the distributer.
