My wife blew out both passenger side tires on her Explorer. So I couldn't simply change the tire. We called AAA for a tow. They got T & A to get us. Walter was the driver and he was great. Our experience with T and A was horrible. The driver was unprofessional, rude, and belligerent. We called AAA for a tire change and T and A towing came. They arrived within 20 minutes and the driver, Yasen, initially was very friendly. My husband has a Nissan X-Terra and unfortunately it was difficult to get the tire down and the driver said it was rusted. He asked us to go buy him some WD40 because he was out, which we did (why we should have to purchase something for him to do his job, I don't know.) In the meantime, he also called his dispatch who told him NOT to continue to try and change the spare because he had other calls and he needed to get to his next call. He had only been with us for approximately 15 minutes at this time. My husband was in the process of putting the emergency kit back in the car when the driver lowered the truck without telling us and the bumper hit both of my husbands knees. When we said something, he argued with us saying that he didn't do anything wrong and the car never touched him. Next, the driver insisted on driving the car on to the flatbed rather than use the winch. The flatbed was at least a 45 degree angle at the time. Even when using the 4 WD on his truck, you aren't supposed to drive at more than a 35 degree angle and this was on a shredded tire on the rim. Upon inspection, there were multiple scratches left in the paint. Finally, I asked for a receipt or paperwork so I could have some documentation. Yasen began rolling his eyes and and insisted that AAA never gives you anything under any circumstances. He was rude and billergent. Finally Yasen said he would have his dispatch send us something. At this point, I asked Yasen to tell me his name as I wanted to confirm so a formal complaint could be filed. Yasen refused to give us his name, covering his name badge. He said he didn't have to give us his name. I was standing next to the truck, speaking to him through his open window. I was standing within 6 inches of his truck so that I could speak with him when he started driving away. I had to walk backwards and quickly to avoid him from hitting me. This is not easy, or even safe for me; I have a permanently crushed foot/ankle and wear a brace. The driver was able to see the brace. When we were driving home, my husband also told me that Yasen told him that he should have already had the tire down and ready to go for him to change; it isn't his job to get the tire down. My husband and I are both disabled. There is a reason we have AAA service. We have NEVER been treated this poorly and will never use T and A towing. If anybody named Yasen shows up, don't let him touch your car! I've had AAA since 1994. I've NEVER had an experience (nor has anyone in my family) had service this poor. read more

My truck broke down so I called AAA. T & A is the towing provider for the area. During the roadside claim portion it is stated that the driver can only transport 1 person and masks are highly encouraged. When the driver called he stated that he would not provide transportation with the vehicle. I pointed out the policy of being able to transport 1. He asked if I had my vaccination card and when I stated I did he hung up on me. I called AAA again to figure out the next step. While explaining what happened he informed me that the driver must have been redispatched because he was being shown in the area. Indeed the truck was pulling up behind me. I informed the AAA rep and said I would call back if there were any other issues. I hung up and as I got out of my truck the tow truck simply drove off without even making eye contact with me. I called AAA back and was told by the rep that driver had inputted that I refused to show proof of vaccination and refused to wear a mask, which was an absolute lie because he never even made contact with me. The rep then put me on hold to contact T and A. Once they came back on the line I was told that the truck would be back in 2 hrs because the driver had already moved onto the next tow and that I had been moved to the back of the tow list. A big fat 0 for T and A Towing AND AAA. read more

I called AAA due to a dead battery and keyless entry not working, nor the key on the FOB, leaving me locked out of the car and unable to get under the hood. AAA sent out Juan from T & A Towing who was prompt, professional and personable. He was able to unlock my vehicle and replace my battery. The cost of the new battery was very reasonable and the overall process was as best as could be expected. Highly recommend Juan. read more

This is the worst car mechanic nightmare my wife and I have ever experienced. In early October, we had to have our SUV repaired. We have AAA so we contacted them to have it towed to a local Merlin's where we usually get work done. T & A Towing arrived; the driver told us that he'd tow it to their shop at no extra charge and do the repair cheaper. Since (we thought) they were AAA approved, we agreed. They replaced the ignition coil and the car seemed fine. Then, in January this year, our car began shaking and the engine light was flashing. We had it towed to Merlin's. They told us that the ignition coil failed and needed to be replaced and there was a crack in it. My wife called the number on T & A's business card. No answer, no voice mail, nothing. My wife called the tow person. He said, "I just tow cars". We called the phone number on our receipt. We got a recording saying, "the number you have reached has been disconnected". Finally, my wife contacted AAA who gave us two numbers for T & A. There was no answer at either so she left messages at both. No one called. She tried AAA again. Finally, they got T & A on the phone. My wife told them that the part they replaced failed and we needed them to fix it. T & A told us that their Naperville location was closed because their pipes burst. They said they'd look at our car in February. We told them that we needed it fixed now; it's our only vehicle. They said they would tow it to their shop in Calumet Park. We clarified that, once fixed, we would need it towed back, since we would have no way to get it. Tuesday, my wife called T & A to check the progress. They told us that they had no time to look at it! Wednesday, I awoke to the sound of my wife fighting with the owner (I assume) of T & A, a man named Mason. He said that there was nothing wrong with the ignition coil and he refused to replace it! But when we called Merlin's again, they confirmed the coil was cracked. Mason insisted that it wasn't and hung up on my wife! I called Mason. He was angry and hard to understand. He said the coil was fine and that the wires attached to it needed replacing. He started shouting. He said he would replace the wires "as a courtesy" then we could pick up the car. Of course, we had to consider whether or not Merlin's had diagnosed the problem wrong. But Mason's rage, hanging up the phone and incoherence made us question him. Merlin's had a great track record; we trusted them. But Mason had our car so we had little choice but to let him replace the wires instead of the coil. My wife stayed in contact with AAA but they said that there was nothing they could do. Finally, my wife got the name of a field rep and left a message for him. Later, Mason called: he replaced the wires and that the car was running fine. I told him that we still needed the car towed to Merlin's. Again, he started yelling (I couldn't understand him), he rattled off what sounded like an address (though I couldn't make out details) then hung up on me again. Meanwhile, my wife heard back from the AAA rep, Jeff. He was sympathetic but felt that there was nothing AAA could do. We explained that, if it weren't for AAA, we would never have even have known that T & A existed. He said he'd try to help. The phone calls seemed endless, trying to get T & A to return our vehicle. Mason refused. We found out that our car was actually in Naperville. Wasn't that location closed due to pipes bursting? We explained that we couldn't get to our car. We also didn't trust that it was repaired correctly. Plus we did not trust being near Mason and we didn't want to be standing outside in single-digit temperatures waiting for him. We went back and forth for a while and over the course of several phone calls throughout the day. It seemed like we would never see our car again. We asked if Jeff would be able to pick us up and therefore be present when he tried to get our car back (he lives in town) but he couldn't. Jeff said that there was nothing else he could do. My wife sadly stated that we were out of luck and we would just be cancelling our AAA policy then got off the phone. That finally did it. A little while later, Jeff called back to tell us that T & A was going to drive our car back to our house! A little while later, Mason and another man arrived with our car. After four days, we finally had our vehicle home. Car owners need to know about this horrible company. My wife and I have never been talked to the way Mason talked to us: belligerent, rude, incoherent--and the way he continually hung up on us, threatened us and finally kidnapped our car--this was the worst customer service experience of my life. read more
