We came to Magna Kusina for our 24th anniversary and had some of the best food I've had at a…read morerestaurant that I'd unfortunately never return to. The sisig and garlic rice were absolute standouts that were deeply flavorful and the dishes I'd come back for if this review were based on food alone. The Mama's crab noodles also left a huge impression. The coconut greens were close to excellent, though they felt just a little thin or underdeveloped compared to the other dishes. I'd probably pass on the skewers next time. Cocktails were incredible across the board. The reason I wouldn't return is the experience around seating. We made reservations far in advance and even accommodated a requested time change because we specifically wanted to celebrate inside. Instead, we were bumped outside, where we ended up eating next to the neighboring bar with a steady stream of chain smokers all evening. It was frustrating to have such exceptional food paired with an anniversary experience that felt like an afterthought.

Food is great…read more Service is a hit or miss. I called before they opened and they took my order, I arrived at the expected time and they looked at me like a deer in headlights. They took the slip they wrote my order on to the back and said it would be 10 more minutes, it was 30 minutes more. Just be honest next time, I would have come back another day if I knew they were super busy. The portions have also gotten smaller- I started coming in 2023 and smaller and smaller they get, like the torta talong I've tried everything on the menu and it's authentic!

Absolutely love this spot on Foster in SE Portland!…read more Chris, who has served us the last few times, is fantastic--attentive, friendly, and always brings great energy. He's a Filipino native and also a Portland DJ, which adds to the cool vibe. The lumpia could be a little less crispy, but they're still tasty. The chicken adobo? Absolutely spot on. But my favorite dish so far has to be the beef mami soup--it's packed with flavor and tastes just like homemade comfort food. The chicken adobo noodles and beef were pure heaven in every bite. The ambiance is simple but carries a nice Filipino touch. If I had one small suggestion, it'd be to turn up the heat a bit in the restaurant. Other than that, it's an awesome lunch spot!

Showed up for a very late lunch at their Alberta location. Stepped up and ordered: Palabok-Rice noodles, seafood sauce, ground pork, sautéed shrimp, pork crackling, fried garlic. First, I should have added an egg for $1. This was a little more bland than traditional palabok. Noodles were also a little thicker than I like. Its good, but I do favor the more traditional palabok. Adobong Gulay-Green beans and fried tofu in a tamari and vinegar sauce. My sister had been hoping for the Kare Kare, but they were sold out, so she opted for the Adobong Gulay. I tried a bite and found it tasty. Lumpia-Good lumpia. Says it has longanisa sausage as a filling, but it wasn't the usually strong longanisa taste. Ube Bibingka-ube flavored rice cake, toasted coconut. Not as heavy as a traditional bibingka. It was fluffier (reminded me of marshmallows). And I ate every bite. Good solid filipino food cart.

I felt it was more like a pork plate with the calamansi and mayonnaise flavor. It was a miss for me. The palabok was delicious. Wish there was more sauce as there is a lot of noodles that comes with the dish.
