Keep passing this place and always thinking to order from them. Since they are stand alone building in the middle of nowhere sort of speak. Ordered a carry out : Hot and Sour, Eggrolls, Crab Ragoon, General Tso, Shrimp fried rice. Big portions, lots of shrimp in the rice. To me chicken was a bit dry and lacked some sauce and fried rice needed some more seasoning. Restaurant looked on the smaller size. Food was ready quickly.

I actually came here because I did the spinning wheel on Yelp to decide what to have for lunch. I have seen this place and wanted to try it so I had some time and went it. The service was nice and did not feel rushed. The place reminded me of any Chinese take out with a few seats to dine in. However they do have some nice fun decorations and pictures on the walls. The chef even had on a chef apron and chef hat. It was actually really adorable to see that. The food unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of what I ordered. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and my friend got General chicken. I liked their chicken better than mine. It had a lot of flavor and was cooked well. The sweet and sour had no flavor and I didn't like the sauce at all. Hot and sour soup I ordered, but I should have got egg drop. It wasn't nasty, I just forgot personally I'm not a fan of Chinese hot and sour. But the soup still had a nice flavor. The wonton crackers were good too. I could eat those by myself all day! The portions are huge. We ordered American lunch and we said next time we can just share one plate. Pricing was ok. The lunch was reasonable price, but you don't get egg rolls or soup you have to order those by itself. The non American lunch prices looked kinda expensive. But if food is good, I don't mind spending the money. Plus, the portions are HUGE..did I mention how big the portions are? I will give this a solid 3.5/5. I want to come again and order some noodles. I bet you that is where they really have the best dishes!

One of the more authentic Chinese restaurants in Novi. The extensive menu includes noodles, soup, dumplings, and stir-fried meat and vegetable dishes. I always order takeout, and everything is packed well for the ride home. I like the taste of the food I've tried here, and the portions are large. It's definitely a step above the standard Chinese restaurant in metro Detroit for foodies looking for more authentic rather than Americanized Chinese food.

Attentive service. When there are flies, sanitation is a worry. There were three flies, but I did not notice any sanitation problems. The squirrel fish was a dud when compared to Trizest and Thai Star. Too much breading and no heat whatsoever - swimming in a sea of brown sauce. My bride is Chinese and ordered for me in Mandarin. Told them that I eat Chinese, not laowai/American. My bride enjoyed her lamb and cabbage soup.

My cousins and I dined at Szechuan Fan this past Friday evening. The server got our orders quickly and our food arrived shortly after. C3 葱油饼 GREEN ONION PANCAKE (3 PCS) - 9.99 At first glance, the scallion pancakes were thin, and all three were perfectly round and evenly sized. It was clear that they had been previously frozen, likely purchased from a nearby Asian mart. The flavor was on the bland side, so we weren't impressed. Also, 9.99 for just three frozen scallion pancakes is daylight robbery. B3 牛腩面 BEEF BRISKET NOODLES - 16.49 The beef brisket noodles was standard, with a pretty generic flavor. The broth was pretty rich, carrying a hint of "mala" aftertaste, though it wasn't spicy. There was plenty of brisket, and the noodles absorbed the broth well. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it got the job done. K2 海鲜豆腐汤 SEAFOOD WITH TOFU SOUP - 16.99 I usually love soup and tend to be impressed by most, but this one fell short. The broth was heavy on salt and MSG with a strong ginger flavor that we didn't particularly like. However, It did contain a good amount of fish fillet and tofu, so they at least don't skimp on good ingredients. G2 辣子鸡(无骨)SZECHUAN SPICY CHICKEN - 18.69 We asked for less spice because one of my cousins isn't good with spice. The chicken had a bit of heat from the Sichuan peppercorns and stir-fried well with a slightly crispy texture. Overall, this was pretty good but not memorable. H1 松取鱼(单味)SQUIRREL FISH (SWEET SOUR SAUCE) - 20.99 The sauce was your typical American Chinese sweet and sour sauce, which isn't the right sauce for Squirrel Fish. The fish was deep-fried nicely with a crunchy breading, but the sauce didn't do it for us. D1 千煸四季豆 DRY-FRIED GREEN BEANS - 15.99 The dry-fried green beans was pretty standard. The green beans were fresh and fried perfectly. The seasoning on it was good and it contained a good amount of toppings like Sichuan pepper and garlic. For Metro Detroit, Szechuan Fan has some Sichuan options, but nothing exceptional. The service was good and we left pretty full. Overall, 3.5/5 but will bump it up to a 4/5.

"Bowl-Steamed Pork Belly with Pickled Vegetables"
Rin G.

Wow. I love their "bowl steamed pork belly with pickled vegetables", F2 in their menu. If you know the famous MingHin Chinese restaurant in Chicago, you know they have a dish very similar to this & it is unbeatable! But tbh Szechuan Fan's is pretty comparable! We also got the Yangchow Fried Rice which was pretty good...a little pricey imho. Inside the restaurant is not too big but good enough space for dining. Service is subpar but I honestly don't expect much when ordering take out so thats not an issue for me. Overall, whenever I crave my braised pork belly, I will def go here:)

Szechuan pepper fish fillet

The Pork with garlic sauce is a classic and they make it the best IMO. This is such a staple in Chinese Szechuan cuisine and is a common point of comparison between different Szechuan restaurants. They make it very flavorful, just the right amount of spice. You won't be disappointed. The dry pot beef brisket was just ok. The quantity of beef was lacking IMO, for $19.99. See my picture. Mostly wood ear and bean curd/tofu skin, which is good just not what I paid for. It was pretty good though. I really wanted to like the Szechuan peppercorn fish and although the flavor was good the dish was simply way too greasy/oily. Just looking at the picture you can see the amount of oil they used. Overall: Food: +: authentic (same owners as ybor yan in aa) szechuan, quantity is ok for $ -: way too greasy/oily and even more so than other places $: a bit on the expensive side @ $20/dish on average and sometimes more. I would say some dishes live up to this value, others not so much. Hit or miss. Service: pretty good, quick, attentive. ambiance: nothing special. relatively clean. Few diners were all chinese so that is a good sign.

If you want to drink water , they only offer bottled water which is inconvenient. Service is good , seems always friendly. Foods are pricey but are delicious and feels like authentic Chinese foods. All of of that foods I've tried were very good and never disappointed. I especially love their mapo tofu.

Dan dan noodles

The restaurant is clean. The service in this establishment is great. I ordered ahead of time so my food would be served right when i sat down. Best decision ever. We got the dan dan noodles with less spice. It was not the best dan dan noodles i've had but still good and a good price point for the amount they gave us. Definitely filling. It was a lot of sauce for dan dan noodles and it kinda felt a bit oily.

If you're looking for authentic sichuan food, this is it! We recently repatriated to the US after 4 years in shanghai and are on a quest to find authentic Chinese. This place definitely checks the box. Highly recommend it. Dishes/ Dan Dan noodles - a bit more watery than I expected but flavor was good. Spicy chicken - on point Eggplant - cooked perfectly pork and bamboos - yummy Xialongbao - tasty but not really xiaolongbao Greens beans - the mala was present and excellent

Conveniently located in Novi; with its own parking. Clean and bright looking. Definitely a mom and pop shop, with child doing homework in the corner. Gosh, how I really really wanted to like this place. We ordered 2 waters $1 each, 2 bowls of rice $1 each, dry fried egg plant and double cooked meat (pork belly). Very very pricey for the portion - $16 for eggplant is a lot of money. Everything was incredibly greasy and salty. Basically to the point where it wasn't edible. The service was as expected, terrible, but it's what usually makes these kind of old school Chinese restaurants good. Unfortunately the food was not good, so we won't be back. It would have been a one star, but it's clean in the restaurant.

Winter W.

Lunch wasn't busy. We ordered Szechuan pepper fish filet and fish-fragrant eggplant. Food came out quickly. Good portion and good flavor. We've ordered the fish-fragrant eggplant before and I wish this time, it was cooked a tad longer as the eggplant was not tender enough. Both dishes are spicy.

Good, but not great. The kind of food that will work in a pinch, but will leave you searching for better.

It's very close to the former suburban showplace and located in a strip mall. There was availability in the shared parking lot. When we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the decor and layout of the restaurant. It was busy but only had to wait for a few minutes for them to get a table ready. There were seats at the bar which seemed like a good atmosphere if you chose to sit there. We sat by the window in a 4 top for just the 2 of us. My seat was comfy on a bench. There were many items on the menu that we wanted to try but asked our server for recommendations. My husband ordered wonton soup for appetizer and then Mongolian beef. I ordered the Thai basil chicken. We ate it all! Everything was flavorful and hot in temperature and served just at the right amount of pace. I also ordered the white flower cocktail, it was good and can't quite determine what part of it had a little kick to it! We ordered hot tea for our dessert, they certainly know how to make jasmine tea just right! Restrooms were clean and it's a cozy yet a little upscale vibe but not dressy. I was worried as I had my Star Wars t-shirt on but I layered with a sweater! We will definitely return as I'd like to splurge and try the Hong Kong short ribs!

After you get your bowl weighed, they'll give you a number once you pay. You also get the option of adding in: ramen, udon, or rice on the side. They offer water with small cups that's on the other side of the cashier and canned pop/ Asian drinks (for additional cost). Even though it can get busy, I've never had a problem getting a seat. This place is always clean- table and restrooms. Service is friendly and pretty quick. Once you're done, you bus your bowl to the back- where the trash can is located.
