Excellent dining experience! I have been coming to China Cafe since the opened in 1996. I enjoyed it then and still do today. Back then, they had lunchtime service, it now opens most days at 3pm. The restaurant and menu has evolved throughout the years, with a new facade, stylish interior and a more upscale atmosphere and decor. It is bright, modern, crisp, but still allows for comfort and accessibility. The service is always efficient and welcoming. I love the updated menu in more of an Asian fusion style. They still have some traditional favorites as well. They also offer a full bar with some creative drink specials. Also, when the weather cooperates, they offer a lovely patio setting. Highly recommend China Cafe. They are also very timely and efficient with carry out.

Located in the plaza with convenient parking. We came here for my birthday this year because I really wanted some Chinese food. I was excited to have the eggplant and tofu, and also the seafood pry noodles. Both were very good much better than the last time since I've been here before the service was decent there were a few times I needed to find the server I wanted more water, the ambience is fine. It's on the darker side, but we also got the chicken that was like a sweet-and-sour chicken. He thought it was battered or told us it was battered, but then it came out not battered. We were actually glad it was not battered, but surprised anyways for what we got. Overall, it's gotten a lot better since I've been here last. It is open on the price your side, but the dishes I ordered I really enjoyed.

I went with a large party of 10 friends, so we decided to order a bunch of dishes and share family style. We ordered the kung pao trio (twice because it was so good!), holy basil chicken, firecracker shrimp, imperial fried rice, and pan friend noodles. Everything was incredible, the portions were great for a large party and the service was very fast and attentive. I would definitely recommend for those looking for upscale Chinese food and will be looking forward to my next visit!

We have lived in Novi for four years and this is the first time we've been here. The won ton soup was very good but different than most places we have been too - it did not have oily tasting dumplings in them and the broth was light. I ordered a combo meat kung pao that was pretty good. On another visit, we had hot and sour sour - oh Lordy it was great. We also got General Tso's and we liked how it was not deep fried. I would definitely order that again.

We found this place on the Royal Oak Eats group on Facebook. Definitely worth the drive to find our new date-night spot! The service from Suzanne and Zin was great! Very personable, great recommendations, and engaged each patron warmly. I had an Asian Pear martini which was a fantastic balance of flavor and alcohol. My wife enjoyed the fried riced, with extra egg. Me...wow, the Mongolian Beef! The beef was incredibly tender, the sauce was flavorful with a balance of spice. We will be back soon!!!

    Old fashion kind of night.

Love this place! Great quality food and atmosphere. Price a little high for a midweek dinner but if something on a Friday night or Saturday night. Then it's decent.

This was a surprise visit and so glad we stayed! We arrived early and had a drink at the bar waiting for another restaurant to open but after reading the menu decided to stay. Super friendly service! So many choices on the menu and all the things we ordered were excellent! The best dish - which I'm going to make my primary dish next time - is the Singapore Dan Dan noodles! So chewy, so full of flavor. The other cool appetizer was the Beijing wings. There's so sauce but ginger and garlic and chilies and crunchy. You don't miss any sauce after one bite. The crunchy noodles is just that - a fried noodle. It wouldn't be my choice for next time but my husband really loved it. The beef was so good though! The shrimp drunken noodles, trio and broccoli fried rice were all hits too. So many more choices on the menu but I want those Dan Dan noodles again right now! Also a cool thing - they have Kirin on tap! Hip ambience, great for large groups or can be intimate or as casual as you want to make it.

I hadn't eaten here in years, since I became gluten free. A friend wanted to go, so we did. Server was Kin. I shared my food allergies and he made a few suggestions, then checked w the chef. I picked chicken and green beans minus the sauce which was oyster based. I really enjoyed it. I could not get either gluten free soup because of mushrooms. My friend wasn't pleased w her food which was pad Thai. She said it was swimming in a sauce that tasted of ketchup. It was exchanged for Mongolian beef, which she liked much better. I would go back.

What an authentic feeling Szechuan experience…read more We ordered online from their website on a Saturday night. After placing our order, the website said our food would be ready in about 15 minutes, but really, we ended up waiting for 30+ minutes for our food. So that's something we'll take into account the next time we order on a busy night. Otherwise, from the moment we walked in after 8pm, every table in this place was full, and all the employees were working hard to make sure people were taken care of. So it's only fair to give them some grace while we waited for our food. Otherwise, the servers made sure to let us know they were working on our order. Since we'd ordered take out, we ate at home, and the food made it seem worth the wait. This is not "cheaper = more food" Chinese food. This tasted like an authentically cooked meal with complex favors that rationalized the higher than expected prices. The next time we come, we might just look for a table inside the restaurant for a different experience, but we'll definitely be back to try more of their offerings!

Ordered a carry out : Hot and Sour, Eggrolls, Crab Ragoon, General Tso, Shrimp fried rice. Big portions, lots of shrimp in the rice. To me chicken was a bit dry and lacked some sauce and fried rice needed some more seasoning. Restaurant looked on the smaller size. Food was ready quickly.

Once you enter the two set of doors, there will be a cart full of huge bowls and tongs. Once you one of each, you'll take a few steps to the toppings of your choice. You can get as much as you'd like... just remember it can add up quick especially if you get more than a lbs. I love spice and heat, but stick to spice level one. After you get your bowl weighed, they'll give you a number once you pay. You also get the option of adding in: ramen, udon, or rice on the side. They offer water with small cups that's on the other side of the cashier and canned pop/ Asian drinks (for additional cost). Even though it can get busy, I've never had a problem getting a seat. This place is always clean- table and restrooms. Service is friendly and pretty quick. Once you're done, you bus your bowl to the back- where the trash can is located. This is a perfect restaurant on a cold day. Can't wait to eventually try out the stir fry and dry dishes!

Welcome to Mala Land. Don't be intimidated. You just walk up to the spread, add your choice of noodles, veggies, meats and so on. Then take it to the counter. They put it on the scale. You tell them which broth you would prefer. We went with the Mala Tang spice level 2. The broth is fabulous, the noodles, the meats and the bean curds tasted divine. It definitely does the trick. I would definitely recommend. 7.3/10 If you're ever in Novi, Michigan do give this spot a proper go at it and let me know what you think.
