I called to report the awful meal I received, and instead of any kind of accountability, the woman I spoke to told me it was my problem. No apology, no solution just pure attitude and blame-shifting. Classy. Let's talk about the food: * Sweet and Sour Chicken: A soggy, inedible mess. The chicken was drowning in sauce, so saturated the breading slid off like wet paper. Ever had meat slide out of mush? Now I have. Absolutely vile. * Crab Rangoon: Not crispy. Not even close. Rubbery, stale, and lazy. Like someone microwaved it and hoped no one would notice. * Egg Roll: Same story rubbery Zero crunch. Zero flavor. Zero effort. * Wonton Soup: Greasy, flavorless broth with gummy, overcooked wontons that tasted like they'd been soaking in hot water for hours. You'd get more taste chewing a napkin. I live less than two miles away, so don't even try to blame the drive. If your food can't survive a 5-minute trip, you shouldn't be in the takeout business. And when I asked to return the meal? I was told to "throw it in the trash" because they weren't offering a refund or credit. The only honest thing they said all night because that's exactly where this food belongs. Do yourself a favor skip this place. The food is trash. The service is trash. The entire experience was a waste of time, money, and appetite. They clearly don't care about quality or customers. Chinese and Thai, what an interesting Mix. I called ahead and they are still only doing carry out orders. They did say that they do have a front patio, where you can order and eat on their patio, which wraps around the building. The wait for food is about 40 minutes, but we should be able to get our crab Rangoon sooner. There's only room for one person in the entrance at a time. I ordered crab Rangoon, the green curry with chicken, steamed tofu, extra veggies, medium spicy, peanut curry noodle with chicken, steamed tofu and added veggies, extra extra hot. The crab Rangoon still took about 20 minutes before it was ready. The crab Rangoon were dense, doughy and rather disappointing. We ate the center only since it was too heavy and breaded. The wonton wasn't as crispy as I like either and we grabbed it from the woman, as she had knocked on the window to let me knew the crab Rangoon were ready. The filling tasted okay, a bit skimp on the cream cheese and crab content though. The plum sauce is super thick, almost like a paste, it's so-so. I am not sure if I need to stand by the door to have her let us know that our food is done. I waited and 45 minutes after we put in our bed order, the woman behind the counter knocked on the window for me to pick up our entrees. She's quite pleasant. The woman behind the counter explained why some of each of our dishes were in a separate container. There was so much overflow due to all of our extra add-ones. It was nice because we each got to try the other entree without having to dig into the main container. The woman behind the counter was very nice. The peanut curry noodles are good, the sauce is yummy, has some good heat to it and the noodles are nice and chewy. The green curry is just okay. I do like the fresh basil leaves. The sauce is a bit bland and boring. I should have know baby corn would come with the added extra veggies. Here I was hoping it would be more of the veggies in the green curry dish only. I ended up using the leftover peanut curry sauce and dumping out my green curry sauce and eating my green curry meal with the peanut curry sauce. I got into this place after getting a coupon and really like it! It's a quick carry out place and their medium level of spice is spicy! Warning as I can handle spice but their medium level even for me is hot! Really enjoyed their drunken noodles and red curry, the lunch portions are good and definitely I have a bit leftover for dinner! Definitely recommend it. What I also really enjoy is getting fortune cookies included with my order. Somehow one of my cookies didn't have a fortune in it but I suppose I will have to choose my own fortune. Lol! read more

Update: changing this to 5 stars. It, and one other plane in Metro Detroit, are my two favorite Thai restaurants. The server here is amazing and remembers my order, and even that I like shrimp in my Tom Yum soup. I come eat here often, I'd say at least once a month for lunch and once for dinner. It's so tasty. Tonight we ordered the usual vegetable curry with chicken. But also ordered the General Tao Chicken. Huge pieces of tender chicken. It was excellent! I found this place one night after I was really in the mood for Thai food and couldn't find any other place that was open past 9pm. I called in my order and was told that they had an event going on and would it would take about 20 mins, which was fine. I decided to order the curry pad Thai with chicken. I was a little apprehensive about getting it because the sauce is made ahead of time and starts with a mild spice but this was the only place open late so I figured I'd give it a try. I went to pick up the order after about 10 min and it was ready ahead of the time I was quoted. When I took the first bite of chicken I was surprised at how spicy the sauce was for it to be a mild order. It took a minute for me to adjust to the heat but after I did I enjoyed the sauce. This is my favorite place to go for Thai noodles. I usually order either the pad Thai or the peanut curry noodles. The prices are very reasonable ($6.95 for lunch, $8.95 for dinner), and you get a lot of food for what you pay! They do a great job balancing the pad Thai flavors (sweet, sour, salty). The peanut curry sauce is rich and flavorful, complementing the rice noodles very nicely. You can choose what level of spice you want in your dishes, and if it's not enough for you, they have additional hot pepper powder at the table so you can adjust to your liking. Haang's also has great appetizers. I've gotten pan fried dumplings, chicken satay, and vegetable spring rolls - they're all delicious. Of the three, my favorite is probably the dumplings. The dumplings are huge, and you get 6 of them per order. The skins on the dumplings are hearty and browned perfectly, while the inside meat filling is juicy. The chicken satay is tender and juicy, and it comes with a delicious peanut sauce to dip in. And finally, the spring rolls are crispy and come with a sweet plum sauce that provides a great contrast to the savory filling. When you eat here, you have a beautiful view of the lake outside. Service is always excellent. The family that owns this restaurant is very nice. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants some great Thai food that won't break the bank. read more

This is a take out only restaurant. Chinese and Thai both, and both are good. I would say I see a bit of Thai influence in the Chinese dishes, but not pronounced. They keep good hours and are reasonably priced. Portion size may be a bit less than a stereotypical Chinese restaurant in the mind's eye. I would say this is my current favorite in the area for Chinese. Second favorite for Thai, but only because the menu selection is less. I love the fried rice, my favorite hands down. Best Curry Pad Thai also. The other curries are very good too. The Sesame Chicken is "Thai infused" to me but good nonetheless. Sooo good! I ended up getting 2 appetizers- the Spring Rolls and chicken with peanut dipping sauce. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauces. The peanut sauce was very sweet and you don't need much! As an asian-american. I gotta say this place is THE place in the area. Not just Walled Lake, but Oakland County, even the entire Detroit Metro area quite possibly. This place hits all the high notes for authenticity and flavor for both Chinese and Thai dishes. From the cuts of the ingredients to the actual ingredients used, it's the original cuisine with the owning family's touch. They have a beautiful balcony with an overlook on the lake, a perfect weekend lunch date before walking around downtown. It's a very small place but the service is always kept well. Their presentation is surprisingly turned up a notch from your expected local Asian take-out. Very friendly staff upon entering and the food is pretty good overall too. I personally like spicy dishes, and this place delivers very well with their medium spice (very hot but very flavorful). The pad prik is flavored perfectly and it has a perfect balance of sweet and spice. I wasn't a big fan of the orange chicken, as it didn't have alot of sauce and I don't like the type of chicken used. But overall I really liked the pad prik and have gotten it multiple times. I was driving through Walled Lake today with my family and decided to stop for lunch at Haang's Bistro around 3PM. There were not many customers and a really nice day, so we decided to sit outside. The hot and sour soup and the egg drop soup were great. We all ordered the Pad Thai (1 regular and 3 curry). It was pretty good. The waitress was really friendly, but the service was a bit slow. I'd say it took 15+ minutes to get the Pad Thai after our soup was delivered. I guess it was their lunch time because all the employees were sitting down eating and / or visiting when I went inside to get more water. Maybe having a pitcher of water on the table would be great since the food is spicy. I went inside to get more water, takeout boxes and my bill instead of waiting longer. The thing that bugs me is a place that charges an extra fee to use a credit card. She said it was to encourage people to pay cash. I just think it makes the business look cheap, no matter how low the fee. I run a business and don't charge clients extra to use a credit card. I think the only other places you hear doing this is a gas station. I just think it's bad business to make your customers pay a convenience fee to use a credit card. The pros: Great soup and OK Pad Thai. Nice view of the lake across the street if you sit outside. Cons: Slower service (but really friendly) and a fee for using a credit card.
