My experience with systMD was fantastic.
The team there rescued me from intense frustration caused by the non-performance of not one but two national brand tech companies. Quickly and professionally Matt and his team provided a service that one of the national brands said was "impossible" to carry out and the other said would take 3-4 days.
This has been a lesson for me in the importance of using a locally-owned small business for tech. SystMD is without a doubt far better than either one of the national brand companies on which I wasted my time. I'll never try a national brand for support again: I've found the local place that is honest, cares about customer satisfaction, and does a great job quickly.
I'm an end user rather than a tech person. Prior to finding SystMD I had made two previous attempts to have the data files copied from my personal Windows 7 laptop onto my brand-new Windows 11 machine. This seemed to me as if it should be a fairly straightforward operation.
I called "big-box electronics company." The first thing I asked was whether I was talking to an employee at my local store. "Oh, yes," the person answered. I then described what I wanted done. I was told that yes, this service would cost me $99, that I could have an appointment later that day, and that the procedure to transfer the files would take approximately 20 minutes, so I was free to wait for it to be completed. I made the appointment and took in the laptops.
At the store I was told that (a) the person I spoke to was at a national call center, not the local store; (b) there would be an additional $50 charge for "setting up" my new machine; and (c) the process would take 3-4 days. Needless to say, I refused the 50% financial upcharge and the 1080% time upcharge!
Several weeks later I was in a "we rescue broken tech" store for a new phone battery. While waiting for that transaction I saw an ad in the store about data transfer. When I asked about it I was told that what I wanted--copying the files so they would be on both machines--couldn't be done, but the files could be transferred from one machine to the other via an external drive. It would cost $99. However, it would take several days to accomplish this, so I should bring in my laptops and external drive.
I did. Then I came back 5 days later, which happened to be a Sunday, to pick up my laptops and external drive. The forward-facing employee of "we rescue broken tech" went to the back of the store and came out with my two laptops and external drive. The new laptop was still in the plastic sleeve in which it arrived from Dell. "The tech says that what you want is impossible," I was told.
Out in my car I texted a friend. She texted back: "You want systMD. It's Sunday and they're closed, but Matt and his team will either do what you need or tell you why they can't, right up front. They are quick and they've always done a great job for me. Here's Matt's number. He's the owner."
Even though it was Sunday, I called, figuring I would leave a message. Nope. Matt answered the phone. He suggested I bring the machines right over. I did. Less than four hours later, Matt called me to pick up two machines with identical files and file structures. SystMD did the "3-4" days, or possibly the "impossible," that quickly! I was amazed. And very, very pleased with the promptness and quality.
Subsequently systMD made a couple of suggestions for upgrading the security on my new machine and for improving the process I was using to back up my files. Matt explained in terms I could understand why these would be good ideas. When I had a little trouble learning to use the upgrades, I contacted systMD via email and received clear, prompt answers to my questions.
If you live, or own a business without its own IT department, within a reasonable distance of the systMD location, I absolutely recommend that you don't waste your time like I did!
