I was totally unsure what to do to select plants and get them to the counter and car so asked the staff. They all were so very cordial and helpful. I just got a cart outside, loaded up, and wheeled it to the counter inside. I inquired about potting soil to plant outdoors if which they had several options. They asked me some questions and then recommended both a type and amount of soil and had me pull my car to a loading spot and staff loaded into my car. Love this place! Oh and know that as of this posting it is on a nursery list with Phipps Conservatory. If you are either a Phipps Conservatory employee (full disclosure-- I am) or a Phipps Conservatory member you get a discount. Nice perk.

I had to remotely select and order a sympathy gift for someone in their local area, and have limited knowledge of houseplants, their meaning, etc. They walked through several expert recommendations with me from prayer plants to prosperity plants, helped me select a pot fitting the occasion and recipient's aesthetic. They also proactively offered to plant it for me, and deliver it to their door directly vs shipping or using a service. They asked if I had a letter to send them include, that they could design into a card to include with the order. They really went above and beyond and took any and all stress out of the process, while my mind was a million other places given the situation. Thank you Ruby Flora, for making this process so much easier on me and for delivering a quality sympathy gift on very short notice. It's clear you really care about your customers, in addition to being the area experts on houseplants.

She was kind and detailed in her explanation of prices, processes, and turnaround times. When I learned that the turnaround was a little longer than I had hoped, Dana did not skip a beat or offer me any less service when inquiring how to knot them on my own. She afforded me the ability to try two different sizes of silk and got me set up with all the tools that I would need, along with a good dose of encouragement! Dana reassured me that if it didn't work out, they would be available to assist me in a class, or to string them for me. This is a place where you need to be careful when you are buying produce. I was a bit disappointed…read morein the fact that they did not have a whole lot to choose from but they did have some unique melons which I had never heard of before. The current "in season" items right now are corn on the cob, tomatoes, peaches, and melons. There is a dairy case but nothing exciting about it along with a meat case. I wasn't impressed with the meats in it nor with the frozen cherries I saw. For the most part you can spend under $10.00 depending on what you get. I was blown away by the huge cantaloupes they had for sale. They were $4.50 each. Unfortunately when I got my selected melon home and began to cut it the juice ran all over the place and I could tell it was overripe. They do have items noted directly from farms. I ended up with a green pepper for $.25. Other peppers were a bit more. For corn on the cob you can get either white or yellow corn. I choose half a dozen white. They come prebagged and the one I selected had an extra ear of corn for free. I cooked one of those up when I got home and it was fresh and good. I was taken aback however when I saw they were selling overriped bananas that had started to turn brown. Normally I would find this type of thing in your regular supermarket but never in a place like this. They sell other things like popcorn and honey and jams to name a few. I was told that their greenhouse is currently undergoing transformation for fall so I really didn't get an opportunity to visit it. I asked about their other location in Cecil and learned that it was basically a nursery as opposed to a farmer's market. It is run by someone else in their family. The staff is friendly and helpful in explaining things to me. Credit cards are accepted on any order over $10.00. It is located on Bower Hill Road as you head towards Bridgeville.
