Born and raised in the region, and a former Mount Washington resident, I love the idea of having a Pittsburgh-themed gift shop in town. On a recent visit home I text a friend and fellow-Yelper on the perfect place to get some PIT memorabilia and immediately she told me, "Love, Pittsburgh". Located on the corner of Shiloh Street, Love, Pittsburgh is a small shop with a ton of charm and friendly staff. Sometimes gift shops can be a little on the corny side and sometimes they teeter on the really expensive side, and I think Love, Pittsburgh does a great job of being right in the middle. Now, you're going to find all types of Pittsburgh items ranging from: Pencils Coffee Mugs Baby clothing T-shirts Postcards Magnets Baseball Caps Pittsburgh themed bullet journals and notebooks Artwork And more. You'll even find some candles, lotions and items of that nature as well. My assumption is those non-Pittsburgh items are locally made, but I'm not 100 percent certain on that because I didn't ask. The pricing is kind of all over the place, ranging from reasonable to a little expensive, but it all depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to rep your current or former city, Pittsburgh. I picked up a few items which I love and was on my way. I know each time I'm in town, Love, Pittsburgh will get some amount of my money, and hopefully some of yours too.

This store is a real problem for me - I want everything in here!! It's amazing!! I love supporting local businesses and local artists and if you're looking for really cool and unique Pittsburgh themed gifts you hit the jackpot here. The owners have really arranged everything neatly and thoughtfully so that you can shop and find treasures everywhere you look. I really had to stop myself from buying everything I got my mitts on. Stop in - you'll be so happy you did!!

Conversation hearts with a Pittsburgh theme!

I love this shop! My husband is from Pittsburgh and loves anything from/to do with the city. It's awesome to be able to support local artists even though we don't live locally and I always find great gifts that make him smile. The selection is great and the shipping is always so quick and well-packaged. Definitely recommend for any of your Pittsburgh needs! The convo hearts pictured are going to be a big hit for Valentine's Day and are just the latest of my purchases from here.

I received the seasonal box for fall through Yelp at the beginning of October. Was very excited to receive it and the it was fun to dig the goodies out of the filler in the box. I thought the items were high quality but didn't feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck. I got a cinnamon sugar blend from steel city co, Halloween themed stickers from Emily McGaughey, a local graphic designer (love her Instagram!), a cute nostalgic Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin Candle, and a potions note book. I loved learning about the different artists and supporting small business. Would definitely get again.

This store is adorable & it has been made so with the hard work of the awesome ladies who own it. You can tell how much heart and soul have gone into this store. It possesses all the character of it's namesake, inside and out. The shelves are beautifully curated with items from over 80 local Pittsburgh artists and makers. It is a unique representation of the city with items ranging from tea towels and mugs to prints and candles. This is the perfect place to stop in and pick up a special gift for any occasion. You'll surely be able to find something to suit your gifting needs for any person. It is truly a love note from Pittsburgh to anyone who receives an item from here.

Blake Anthony, Kelly Sanders, and Monica Yope

After seeing Monica Yope at so many of our Yelp events I was thrilled to hear that she was opening up her own store on Mt. Washington. I read about it in the newspaper and went out to check it out. I also got to meet her co-owner of the shop who is Kelly Sanders. During my visit I also got to meet Blake Anthony who created Pittsburgh style ceramic mugs. The store is more Pittsburgh based goods rather than crafting although Monica told me she eventually hopes to work more of that into it. Inside you will see a lot of Pittsburgh themed goods ranging from Teeshirts, candles, jewelry, wood painting, coasters, and even the Steel city salts which you find in the Strip district on certain days. I noted some of the things they carry are from Commonwealth Press in Mt. Lebanon and Kelly told me I had a keen eye on that because it is true. While everything in the store may not reflect Pittsburgh the goal is to have Pittsburgh people bring things into it so it will be a store that hallmarks our city. Kelly specializes in notebooks and other crafts made from vintage fabrics. I even noticed some glasses made by the soon to be closed Tech Shop with Pittsburgh etching on it. You can get cards, tea towels and so much more. It is located not far from the Mon incline so that tourists can get gifts to remind them of our lovely city. They eventually plan to launch online shopping but that is down the road. I want to get something that Monica herself made and I ended up purchasing a beautiful wood painted wood block of our city for a reasonable price. The store is open Wed-Suns and is located near the Grandview bakery. There is a pay parking lot nearby.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this shop! Did I say LOVE ??? I wasn't born in the 'Burgh. I grew up in the south. My husband came south to go to college and we met right after. He asked me to get married and then asked me to move to Pittsburgh. We literally moved here the day after we got married. (In May we celebrate 28 years of marriage.). To say that I had culture shock is an understatement. For awhile I was extremely homesick. Then I decided to give this city a chance. I jumped in and fell in love. I have met and made friends with a very diverse group of people who all bring something wonderful to the table. We have raised our two sons here and I'm proud that they have had this opportunity. I said all of that to say that I LOVE anything that celebrates our city. I also have a great respect for artists and for supporting our local community. This shop brings all of that together-our city, small business, shopping local, and talented artists. There was so much to see that I kept walking around. Each trip I saw different things. A few of my favorite items were the Pittsburgh Bucket List in a can. I'm dying to see what all is included. Every time I think I've seen everything there is to see in Pittsburgh I find something new. The print of the city bridges and the map of the boroughs were favorites. There was some amazing pottery/clay works that we're incredible. With wedding season coming i will be placing orders for gifts. Not to mention the kids corner with trains, onesies, and other cute items-just in time for baby showers. The staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. #shopsmall #shoplocal

For example, the stuffed animals are basically the same ones at Walmart or Target; the chocolates are the same ones you can find at Giant Eagle; and so on. They do have a decent selection of greeting cards to browse, but I personally prefer to shop for stationery at stores like Kards Unlimited or Wildcard (which offer more unique and even quirky options). I guess it's nice to have this place as option if you can't drive to those other stores, though. It's a shame since I remember enjoying browsing here in years past. Now though, it feels like their stock is very "same old same old" compared to other places. I can't say anything is cheaper here than it is elsewhere, either. So I don't go out of my way to shop here anymore.

Well; we forgot to bring in our coupons or rewards certificates and thought to ask one of the four women behind the counter if they happened to have any coupons or if they could hold the items for us. One of the women (dirty blonde hair, didn't catch her name if she was wearing a name tag), was counting monies in one of the registers (we arrived at 8:15pm, and they don't close until 9 also) rudely said to my husband something along the lines of "She can help you over there." I then stepped over to ask him what the answer was when she then turned to me and snipped our "This register's closed, she can help you over there!" I replied "I'm with him." To which she replied again: "I know! This register is closed someone will help you over there." I didn't recall asking her if her register was open, or even for her to help me; I don't ever recall being treated so rudely when spending close to $200 on frivolous things that I can get online as well. The woman that stepped over to wait on us was relatively nicer than the first; and made small talk to try and smooth over the rude lady's attitude. But it was to no avail to us. We checked out, and promptly left the store feeling like we nothing but a pain in their rear ends for wanting to spend money. This wasn't the first time I left this store feeling this way either.

The concept is really cute with sandwich options to choose from, and of course the build your own charcuterie boards! It's a beautiful place with a nice, open interior and comfortable seating outside. I tried the Gouda grilled cheese with tater tots and a side of caprese salad. They also didn't really have iced tea on the menu, but they offered to make me one and it was probably the best iced tea I've ever had! The sandwich was perfectly crispy and buttery on the outside - an element that is very important to me! The flavors were very good also. My only complaint would be that I wish the cheese had been a bit more melted. It wasn't really melted at all, for what I would expect from a grilled cheese sandwich. The tater tots and ranch were very good. There seemed to be some herbs in the tots, which I liked. The only thing I really didn't care for was the caprese salad. It just had an off taste to it and I ended up only eating one bite. All in all, I will definitely go back! It's a great place!

It was something we have always wanted to do, but it always sold out before we had the chance to. As the glass blowing experience approached, I took the day off work and we coordinated an entire day around the session. We were very excited to go. On September 27th, we received our confirmation email reminding us of our upcoming session. On September 29th at 3:07 pm, we received an automatic cancellation email that our appointment had been cancelled and we needed to reschedule. The email provided no explanation for the cancellation. There was no additional email sent and no contact attempted by phone. Confused, my boyfriend tried the number provided and left a message. He also sent a Facebook message. Concerned, I called the company as well and after 2 calls, reached Janine (spelling?). She explained that they didn't receive the glass supplies needed for the session and that they were cancelling all sessions on Saturday and all sessions on Sunday. I asked if they were going to reschedule or offer an additional session for those who have already signed up. I was informed that I could reschedule after January 1st, 2018 because the rest of the pumpkin workshops were booked. I mentioned that a glass pumpkin wouldn't really do me much good in January and she agreed. I asked if we could come another time instead. She told me that she would speak with the guys who run the workshops and call me back. She didn't seem concerned and it was like she was caught off guard by my questions. On October 4th, I still hadn't heard back. I called the company again and left a voicemail for Janine asking for a return call. Today is October 10th. I just attempted to reach Janine again and it went to her voicemail. I left another message, but it's been 11 days since our first conversation. I don't have high hopes that she will call me back. I understand that things happen. I'm not sure why supplies weren't ordered ahead of time (since we booked 2+ months prior and they had already had a weekend of workshops), but even then I can understand that it might have been out of their control. I'm not an expert in glass supplies, but I would imagine that there has to be more than 1 supplier. All of that aside, there is absolutely no excuse for how it has been handled. I would expect a phone call or email explanation for the cancellation. As a customer, I shouldn't have to make numerous attempts to find out if it was cancelled intentionally or in error. When called, I would expect that a business do everything it can to accommodate those that were cancelled. An additional session could have been opened for those who were still interested in attending a workshop. Ironically, Vessel Studio Glass has a 48 hour cancellation policy in which you will forfeit 100% of your session fee if you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment. They provided only 24 hour cancellation notice to us and were not apologetic in any way. They also did absolutely nothing to try and make it right. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and wish that we would have had the opportunity to attend the workshop that we signed up for.
