I'm aware life will happen, but in that case, you post a sign saying why you're closed, and when you expect to be back. Like 'getting lunch, back at 1', 'closed early for vet appt' and so on. You don't just... do nothing. Honestly, speaking as a former small-shop-in-a-small-town owner myself, the lack of note or warning is disrespectful. If your hours aren't reliable, what does that say about the rest of your shop? Do you even care you're risking losing customers? And what certainty does the customer know you'll be open the next time they come by? If your hours are so changeable customers have to call ahead to see if you're open, then don't bother promising them hours you don't intend to keep. Just say Sun-Sat, open by appointment, please call ahead.

Often during visits I also take time to chat with the owner, who is a delight to speak with and who always makes me laugh with her stories and humor. Due to COVID, our order was delayed (which is understandable), so we were pressed for time for that reason and needed to get our invitations out ASAP. As someone who loves to travel, I love picking up random items from my travels, little things here and there, but you know most of it tends to be cheaply made stuff that really isn't anything you want to display- mostly stuff you put in a box, but the things sold at Love, Pittsburgh really are works of art. You can get literally pieces of Pittsburgh art, essentially everything sold there is from local artists which makes it even better. Candles, cool postcards, notebooks, coasters, so many cool items, all with a great flare to it that's truly unique to Pittsburgh and again, they're good quality and the prices aren't sky high. The staff there is AMAZING. Super friendly. Super helpful. So nice. Really helpful. Just really makes you really what a great place Pittsburgh is.
