I had the pleasure of working with the manager Dana today to inquire about having my beloved baroque pearls restrung. She was kind and detailed in her explanation of prices, processes, and turnaround times. When I learned that the turnaround was a little longer than I had hoped, Dana did not skip a beat or offer me any less service when inquiring how to knot them on my own. She afforded me the ability to try two different sizes of silk and got me set up with all the tools that I would need, along with a good dose of encouragement! Dana reassured me that if it didn't work out, they would be available to assist me in a class, or to string them for me. I highly recommend you just stop in to see their amazing offerings and for their excellent, friendly and helpful customer service. I believe your experience will be similar to mine. Thank you Crystal Bead Bazaar read more

The staff is super friendly and helpful and the selection is unbelievable! They offer classes in different styles of beading, too. read more

This is a charming shop if you are into crafting beads. They carry all types including Swarovski crystals and nuts from the far east if you are into wooden beads. Upon entry there is a small section of jewelry you can purchase but most of the items are the supplies and tools you need to make your own designs. They are a small business and I noticed the BBB recommendation sign there so you know you are getting quality. I had the opportunity to meet the owner Joanne and she told me when the next beading class would be. For anyone interested it would be on March 21 from 6-8. Cost is $27.00. Staff is there to answer any questions yo may have. I was especially interested in the pearl strands. They carry everything including high quality if you are willing to indulge. They also sell books for beading. One of the things that caught my eye was cute glass animals. I learned they were gifts and not for sale but owner may change her mind in the summer. They have a wonderful selection to choose from as well as the needed strings, wiring, and snippers to do your work. The creativity is up to you! Worth a look regardless! read more

Took my daughter and niece to get them a supplies needed to make bead necklaces and the lady behind the counter was more than pleased to stay seated and not help or interact in any positive way. I understand with Covid that things aren't normal but make a tiny bit of an effort. I tried to shop small and support your biz but I won't be back. read more

The owner of this shop loves seed beads as much as I do, and has Miyukis and Delicas in every color under the sun. She also has the best selection in the area of fresh water pearls, Czech glass beads, semi precious stones and findings. The prices are retail, so yes, you can buy your beads for less on line. However, there are benefits to shopping at an actual store (as opposed to a virtual one)...when I asked if she had chabochons, she brought out tray after tray of them...these I like to look at before I buy, as semi precious stones are all so different, and I've been disappointed when buying unique items on line in the past. They also have classes here and are part of a vibrant beading community, so I think supporting them is important. Very nice store on a stretch of Butler Street in Lawrenceville that is becoming a great shopping and dining destination. read more

Best bead shop in Pittsburgh! This store has a great selection and an always-changing inventory. You can find all of the beading necessities like wire, string and a variety of clasps as well as all types of great items to build up your bead stash. If you like freshwater pearls, semi-precious beads or Swarovski crystals, this is the place for you! They also carry a wide assortment of seed beads in every color you can think of. In addition to all of the wonderful bead finds, the staff is also friendly and helpful. For the quality of the items they carry, I think the prices are pretty reasonable. Overall, this is a great little store! read more

I ended up moving back to Pittsburgh last year, and a good thing just keeps getting better. Not only are the staff and the owner, Joanne, terrific, but they have *wonderful* classes of all sorts, and I am learning some great new techniques, including silver clay, in a very friendly environment, with excellent instructors. They also hold fairly frequent trunk sales with vendors who offer a wide range of semiprecious and other unique beads, which very nicely supplements what they normally stock. There is also a frequent beader program that allows earning reward certificates, which is greatly appreciated. Finally, they are also very dog-friendly, even putting a bowl of water outside the entry door. The only real downside is they have virtually no sterling or gold-filled chain, but at least I have other sources for that. read more

I had no idea this place existed, and I'm so glad I've discovered it! I make my own jewelry with semiprecious stones and beads, and this shop has beautiful specimens. I even saw some stones I'd never heard of before, and some color variations I'd never seen. I could definitely spend hours here rummaging. This shop also sells whatever supplies you may need to actually make your jewelry, unlike other bead shops in the area. I was able to purchase copper crimp beads and other tools as well, which are very hard to find. The charms and other knick knacks were very unique and beautiful as well. Loved it, and I will definitely be back! read more

Crystal Bead Bazaar - As soon as you walk in... - Art Supplies Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I don't use beads in the traditional way. I use then in my knitting and crochet projects. This has never been an issue here. First of all, if you need beads they have them! Big, small, all different shapes and beautiful colors! It can be a bit overwhelming if you don't know what you are looking for, but the staff here is great at helping you find just what you need. I've purchased my beads from Crystal Bead Bazaar three time now and I plan to be back many more times. read more

I was amazed at this shop and the level of customer service! Amazing selection, picked up beautiful onyx beads and raw tourmaline beads. This place is a real treasure. read more

Crystal Bead Bazaar - Beads!!! - Art Supplies Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Staff wears masks and they limit how many people they allow at once; I felt perfectly comfortable returning! They will do curbside pick up, and they have increased the number of kits available but their variety of beads, findings, and supplies remains varied and plentiful, and even seems to have increased! read more

I've only been here once, but I felt uncomfortable while I was shopping here and probably won't go back. While shopping there, I felt like an unwelcome visitor in someone's home. It also seemed a bit pricey, I'll stick with Etsy for buying my jewelry-making supplies. read more

Nice little bead store. Prices aren't the best, but when you need something last minute, they aren't awful. Great selection on odds and ends that you can only find going into a yarn store. read more

Took a basic beading class here and really enjoyed it. Locally owned small business with a great selection of materials and supplies, but the best part is the friendliness and expertise of the staff. They obviously care about the craft and their customers, and it's nice to have someone that is willing to spend time answering questions and even lending you a tool to use in the store. The prices are reasonable for the quality you get, and they definitely have a wide range of supplies so you can find something within your budget. Each strand of beads is labeled with a price tag, which I appreciate so you don't have to spend time searching for it! read more

A wide range of selection. My girlfriend made a few purchases and told me this was a top notch place. Obviously this means I am not into this so I refer to her insight. read more

This place is wonderful! They have an incredibly wide selection, the employees are incredibly nice people, and, although I moved north, I come here just about every time I am in town. They love seeing people's creations, and they cultivate an incredibly creativity-friendly atmosphere! I never buy this stuff online, and that is because of this place: you get to see everything before you buy, you get to hear ideas and encouragement, and you get to know people who are happy to help! Whether you need beads, wire, chain, cord, tools, or even advice; this is the place to go! read more

A really great place. I have been there several times, each time I leave with something. Generally I go there because I need advice on a design issue - they are always so helpful and friendly. I really am a fan of this place. read more

Boy were my friends and I impressed with JoAnne's shop. Amazing selection. Two of us have severe metal allergies and there are soooo many allergy free options. Glass, crystal, clay, silk, leather... We will make another day of it soon. Thank you for such a lovely girl's day out!! JoAnne's guidance and friendliness was a joy. read more

This is a gem of a beadstore! Nice selection. Prices OK. But the best part of the Crystal Bead Bazaar experience is the staff. Uber welcoming and knowledgeable. I have shopped bead stores from Philly to Phoenix. Many staffers are bored to nasty, but not the gals at Bead Bazaar. They are never too busy to give you great advice on beads and beading techniques. If you're a beader, don't pass this one up. read more

Avoid the rude, impatient and most unhelpful older woman in the shop. She had little patience to look up from her own bead project and actually help a customer. She ruined our bead trip to Lawrenceville based on great Yelp reviews. What an awful employee and what a wasted trip. read more

I have been to a lot of bead stores and this one is not good. The prices are way too high and the service is awful. Go spend your money somewhere else. Do not shop here. read more
