Disappointed. The shop appears to have exactly what I need, which is why I was willing to drive 30+ min all the way down to Carnegie. I finally get there, and the shop's closed. No additional signage, just a sign saying they open at 11:30 on Tuesdays. (Not 10, like Yelp/Google say.) I'm standing there at 2pm, staring at a 'closed' sign, with the open hours clearly saying they should be open while I'm standing there. I'm aware life will happen, but in that case, you post a sign saying why you're closed, and when you expect to be back. Like 'getting lunch, back at 1', 'closed early for vet appt' and so on. You don't just... do nothing. Honestly, speaking as a former small-shop-in-a-small-town owner myself, the lack of note or warning is disrespectful. If your hours aren't reliable, what does that say about the rest of your shop? Do you even care you're risking losing customers? And what certainty does the customer know you'll be open the next time they come by? If your hours are so changeable customers have to call ahead to see if you're open, then don't bother promising them hours you don't intend to keep. Just say Sun-Sat, open by appointment, please call ahead. read more

I LOVE this shop. With a name like More Than Words Fine Papers, I think I'm obligated as a person who writes for a living to stop by here on a semi-regular basis. I always buy something when I'm here, and I always have to remind myself not to buy every beautiful thing I see. Even though I really want to! This is a little shop so with all the goodies on display, parts of it are pretty cozy. While this means I'm always very careful with my bags (I don't want to knock things down!), I don't mind. It's certainly not a bad thing to take my time in here looking through the shelves and racks of goodies. Funny magnets, cute greeting cards, pretty jewelry, eye-catching notebooks, colorful paperweights, unique stationery...the list of things here almost feels neverending. Often during visits I also take time to chat with the owner, who is a delight to speak with and who always makes me laugh with her stories and humor. As someone who doesn't usually like chatting while browsing and shopping, I think it says a lot about the store as a whole that I'm able to relax that much while I'm in here. I definitely look forward to future visits here, and I also recommend this shop for your own shopping needs! From custom designs to sweet gifts to snarky greeting cards, there's definitely something here for you, a family member, or a friend. read more

I was delighted to find this little shop on Main Street in Carnegie. I'm never in that town and thought I'd check it out. When I was welcomed in, I think I had a HUGE smile on my face and the salesperson could tell I'm a bit of a paper junkie. I could have easily spent an hour browsing the small shop, but had other places to run. I found some smart ass-y pencils, some greeting cards, and a journal to buy. I'll definitely make the trip back when they get their 2019 planners in. I really appreciate all the Pittsburgh themed stuff and loved seeing LGBT wedding and celebration stuff. If there are items that are designed or printed locally (I feel like I saw Sapling Press cards?) I'd love it if they were highlighted in the store. Can't wait to go back! read more

This is a darling little shop right in the heart of Carnegie. I stopped over here after a cup of coffee to check it out. Everywhere there were cards, signs, note papers and a special section for bridal stationery. I purchased a birthday card at a very reasonable price for my husband's upcoming birthday. I got to meet the owner and she told me that most of their stuff is custom ordered. The graphic designs just blew me away! I was checking out the unique name and address stampers you can have made for your return address. I was asking the lady regarding the $28.00 price because I wanted to know if the lettering was extra. She wasn't exactly sure but showed me the catalog from which I could choose a font and design to go with it. They are very nice but may be too large for a return envelope. Still, I plan to look into again on a return visit. They also sell canvas tote bags with designs on them from different manufacturers. Time constraints limited my visit here but I do plan to return in the near future and check out their other offerings. It appears that there is something for everyone who visits this shop whether it is a mug, magnet, or even stationery. It is a great small business and am pleased with their offerings. read more

More Than Words is a real treasure in a world where it's becoming more difficult to get personal service for invitations. They had a wide selection to choose from and were patient and helpful with the decision process. They ordered and printed my shower invitations, and could not have been more accommodating to my needs. I am honestly shocked this place is still in business if they treat all customers the way I was treated by them. I went in for my save the dates as well as my wedding invitations. I hoped to get cute, custom invitations and save the dates because I wanted a unique wedding. I even understood the cost might be more than regular mass printed items because of the promise of something crafted solely for my event. However, we wanted approximately 75 save the dates and we were charged WAY above and beyond what we were initially told (like hundreds more). Not only that, but I gave months in advance notice for when I'd need them and they weren't prepared on time. My balance was paid, and I was just waiting for them to be ready, and panicking the entire time because I needed to give my guests notice of the upcoming event. I finally called, and the owner admitted she hadn't even started them yet, but that they'd be ready the following week. I called a week later, still not ready. The following week, they said they'd be ready the next day. I went in and I was presented with the save the dates. They were NOTHING like what I anticipated or described that I wanted. It looked like they were thrown together in photoshop in an hour by a middle school student. Seriously, I could have put something together that was better, and I could tell she quickly threw something together to get me off her back. I was SO disappointed. When I said that they were not what we discussed when I first came in, I was told that I would have to pay more for her to "redo" them. Yeah right, lady. Not wanting to deal with her anymore, I paid for the save the dates as they were, and left. The next day, she had the audacity to call me asking when I wanted to come in to plan my invitations. I said thanks, but I decided to go with someone else. She asked why and I explained. She said she gave me the finest quality and I wouldn't get that anywhere else. Lol. I laughed and hung up. I ended up ordering these truly adorable invitations online and probably spent 1/6 what she would have charged me. I'll never use them again for any event. read more

I wouldn't recommend this vendor to anyone! Extremely unprofessional, does not know how to communicate properly whatsoever, and does not meet deadlines! My wedding invitations went out late, I never even saw them before they went out, AND they charged me more than what i was originally quoted!!! If I could've given this business 0 stars, I would have. Do yourself a favor and GO ELSEWHERE!!!! My "go-to" card store when I want to give a special card to a special person (awww!). Their selection is unique-from super sappy to "Oh my...I'm blushing" to "exactly what I wanted to say." The store has moved three time from a teeny place to a slightly overwhelmingly large space to a just right. It is now where The Gifted was and close by it's competition who shall not be named in this review...but think "You're Wanted as a Guest." Their wrapping paper selection is outstanding!!!! And they have even wrap gifts for small fee. The staff is very friendly and quite helpful and familiar with merchandise. read more

We absolutely loved our wedding invitations from More Than Words! The shop itself is adorable. They have tons of examples of custom invitations and it's evident that they are good at what they do. They are reasonably priced as well. We met with a few other companies in the South Hills who did custom invitations and they were much more than More Than Words. Just returned from my honeymoon and still loving the wedding. We had great vendors, and More Than Words was one of the best. The invitations were fantastic. The programs, menus and bags they designed absolutely beautiful. Like all brides, I worried about too many details, but I always felt relaxed and at home with the entire staff. I looked on line and at one other store before trying More Than Words (I'm from the other side of town), but a friend recommended them and I have to say she hit the nail on the head. This place was an absolute nightmare from the start. I wish I would have listened to the review that warned to stay away but I thought with one bad review, I would still give her a chance. I went in there without a budget and we discussed for several hours exactly what I wanted and SHE gave me a verbal cost according to what we discussed. I paid a down payment but was only given a receipt showing down payment. I asked her for a estimate listing specifics and a quote with the final price. I never received either- she doesn't provide contracts, only a receipt confirms payment and lists raw materials. After downsizing the quantity from the original 50 to 40 invitations and having to fight to have them done as we discussed initially, we STILL ended paying way over what she said. If this is an issue with so many people, she should save herself the grief and provide estimates and contracts. My stress levels went through the roof having to work with Barb and her disorganized, unprofessional business. She should focus on organization, clarity and professionalism instead of gossiping about customers and talking about herself. She can respond to this and make false accusations, blaming the customer yet again, or she take accountability and fix the problems in her business. read more

Though our invitations were tasteful and looked nice, they were not what was agreed upon. When my wife came home from the initial meeting with Barb she was very excited and told me what she had arranged and how excited she was. Weeks later we picked up the sample invitation only to find that it was not what we had ordered. My wife had somebody go with her to the meeting with Barb and she also told me this was not right. I called Barb to see if we could work something out. I was met with an aggressive tone and was taken back by the way I was being spoken to. I was informed that she had been in business over 15 years and that this was our fault. I could go on and on with the details of this negative experience but what's most important is that if you are eating married, go elsewhere for your invitations. You only get married once and if you are looking for a pleasant experience, keep on shopping. read more
