Alexandria, VA - my third time floating and I finally decided to try a float pod. Previously I had experienced the more open float cabin. Sort of like stepping into an extra, extra big shower stall but with a float tub instead of a shower. I wondered if the pod would be claustrophobic when I shut the lid but not so. Firstly, I could sit up if I wanted without banging my head on the lid. Secondly, the lid has a pretty lighted star pattern. So when I laid back and relaxed into the just the right temperature water, it felt like I was looking out onto a big window of stars. And then I closed my eyes and had the very most relaxing hour. If one wants complete darkness theres a button for the starlight too. I will definitely return in the future. read more

The cabin float experience was exactly what I needed. I was greeted with a warm welcome and given a tour of the facilities. I brought my own music, dimmed the lights, and used the head floatie the center provides. There are also towels, hygiene products (I brought my own), and robes you can use while you're there. There's also a super chill room you can relax in afterwards. This place is all about relaxation and recovery. Will definitely be back to try more. read more

This was my first time doing float therapy and it really was a cool experience! I received a session as a Christmas gift and I was very eager to use it. You can book a session online or call the center. I did have a bit of an issue trying to figure out how to book with my credit so I ended up having to call for assistance. The employee was very helpful and I was able to easily book after speaking with her. I booked one day prior to going and there was a lot of availability. What stood out about the center is that they have different floating options. I wasn't quite ready for the pod, so I chose the floating cabin. There is also an option for something that is similar to a small pool. The center is located in the Old Town Virginia area. There is plenty of parking and a sign to let you know where to enter the building (go down the step). The place is very clean and serene. Upon checking in, there is a beautiful lounge with magazines, tea, and water. The room with the cabin was a nice size. Along with the cabin, there was a shower and an area with a robe and towel. They provide earplugs and petroleum jelly for any cuts. The floating experience was amazing and peaceful! Imagine just floating under the stars in peace and quiet for an hour. The cabin was spacious. You could fit two people in it. I like that they provide a detailed video of how to float on their website. The only thing I would bring to your attention is that I had to wait about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment to start my session. There was someone scheduled before me in the cabin and they were not done by the time I checked in. Not sure how the scheduling works. So just be prepared for a possible wait. I have floated there twice. The first time I could hear people talking at the front desk, even with earplugs in and canned music in the pod. The next time, in a different pod, the water was not body temperature and I cut my float short because I was chilly. When I reached out, I got a single sentence - "I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations." I have floated in other places and cities that met my expectations. Experienced my first salt water float at this establishment. Parking is easily available on the street or in the parking lot. The staff was extremely friendly, especially Tia,who was knowledgeable of the services they provided and the products they sold. She toured me around and explained the benefits of each one of the services as well as pre and post rituals for the float session. My float lasted 60 minutes. The shower in my room had nice hot water with towels and soap provided. The ear plugs they have ready for use were great and i had an extremely restorative nap in the water. Afterwards i had opportunity to shower, remove salt from my body and ears, and then sit back and relax with water, tea and silence. This was a Christmas gift last year and I have been enjoying it ever since. Yesterday, my husband and me did individual floats in the float pod and tranquility pod. I have floated in both and although there are minor differences both were great. We felt so relaxed and rejuvenated after our floats. Each room has a shower, towels and a robe. Man oh man was this exactly what I needed! My wife bought me an amazing package for my birthday and I had been looking forward to visiting Synergy for quite some time. They have plenty of on-site, private parking so no worries of hunting down spaces in Old Town. As this was my first time there was paperwork. Luckily I was able to fill it out ahead of time and get that out of the way. Upon arrival all I had to do was get the intro and off I went! I was given a grand tour of the place by a very knowledgeable staff member. My wife bought me 30 minutes in the infrared sauna and a 60 minute float. Synergy is extremely clean and very well maintained. Once you come out from the back there is a calm room at the front to decompress and gather yourself. It was nice to just sit and relax a little after all of that self-care. Do yourself a favor and have a float! read more

This was my first experience doing a float tank. Some general thoughts: 1) it ain't cheap. $89 for a one hour float. There are packages which reduce the cost. 2) it is enjoyable. After about five minutes of wondering just what in the world I shelled out money for, I relaxed, and started to appreciate the experience. Meditating was hard though because it gets humid in the tank. 3) it is clean. Very important, particularly in pandemic times. 4) they're into 'healing crystals', which definitely isn't my sort of thing. 5) the staff were very nice. read more

This place is amazing first of all, When you park in the designated parking spot that says 1240 you have to proceed downstairs of the sign that you see synergy float spa. That's where you enter. Then once you get inside there is a beautiful waterfall oasis that awaits you. Now I haven't tried any of the other services yet but I did try the infrared spa and I have to say that that is the most comforting way to fall asleep if you're having those issues. Even if you're an active gym member there's no better way than having your own personal I sauna to listen to music and decompress for the week. I definitely recommend anybody come here whether it's for a bridal party, a great deep experience or if your solo just a place for you to chill and reset your battery to start over again. read more

Synergy Float center is a new addition to Old Towne. I've been to other float spas, but this is the first that impressed me from start to finish. Everything from the owner, staff, the amenities, layout to even the decor was efficient and thoughtful. The process: My husband made a last minute reservation for a float session. Jawad was very helpful and polite. He answered all our questions and explained the different options. I elected for a float and hubby went for the magnetic resonance therapy. First star earned. The location: The center is nested the north part of Old Towne Alexandria. Parking is clearly marked and free. Big plus. The entrance is down a set of stairs, right across from parking spaces. Second star earned. The center: Chris, the owner greeted us. He was warm and inviting. Given this being our first time, we asked for a tour. Chris was thorough in explaining each of the different services and our schedule sessions. The establishment was clean, well organized and relaxing. Third star earned. The experience: I have floated in pods before, this was a first time in a cabin sized one. The room contained a shower with complimentary soap, shampoo and conditioner. Center also provided a towel, robe, a small basket with ear plugs, petroleum jelly, and even a little bottle to help with clogged ears. Inside the floating cabin was a small towel and a water bottle in the case you get water in your eyes. Fourth star earned. The finale: When I finished with the session, I made my way to a little station to quickly blow dry my hair and then to the relaxation room. While watching the waterfall installation, I enjoyed a delicious cup of loose leaf tea, and wrote a little note in the guest book. Quick note, there are little tea bags, small scoops, honey and stevia for the tea. Fifth star earned. Synergy Float Center is a wonderful little spa. My fiancee and I have been going here since we have been so stressed during the pandemic. At first, we were worried about cleanliness and exposure, but the staff is excellent and each room is cleaned thoroughly after each guest. Chris, the owner and Susan, the manager have each taken the time to speak with us personally and I really appreciate the work they are doing to help out members of the military community and others in need of relaxation therapy. Not only that, but they also set me up with an amazing plan which allows me to afford going as often as I like even when money is tight. We came here using our groupon. The associates were very informative about the whole process of using a Groupon, scheduling and other first time visit questions that we had. There is a nice waiting room where you can have water or prepare a nice cup of loose leaf tea of your choosing. We came for a float session. The associate was very thorough on covering the ins and outs of the whole experience. He pointed out the bottle of fresh water and its location just in case we get salt water on or eyes and their safety buttons and protocols just in case. One hour goes by surprisingly fast when you're relaxing. Especially when the light turns off when you stop moving aka fall asleep. The whole experience was a novelty. If you have cuts or any other breaks on the skin it would be best to skip this until you're healed. No visits during periods for the ladies. read more

I had my first float. I did an infrared sauna followed by a float. And, I have to say- this was next level self care. It was amazing!! The staff was amazing and welcoming. The space was beautiful and really clean. The experience was wonderful. This was better than a massage. No kidding. So after spending some time doing research on float tanks / floating. Synergy seemed to have everything that I've heard was needed for a successful float, and from the experience i had, it went above and beyond creating the perfect atmosphere. My wife got me my first float for my birthday and I saved it for a big day. From the moment walk in, the environment is calming, and efficient. At the front desk it was a quick check in followed by a walk around tour of the facility and explaination of the setup of the room. I had elected to go with the pod. The pod sits in the middle of a room, with a shower, towels, a robe and a bench. The float itself was pretty interesting, close to what I was expecting and gave me an opportunity to clear my mind. I went full on lightless, no neck pillow. My body responded pretty well, at the very end I though I felt the pod begin to heat, maybe to keep the water warm? And then I had a slight wave of nausea. I got out with about 3 minutes left in my hour long float. Showered, got dressed and headed out. There is a recompression room that has tea, and a log book. Chris the owner came out to check on me and offered some info on the different float options, and then got some pricing options on additional floats. I've been going through a really hard time recently (in the midst of heartbreaking grief from losing my father) and have been trying to focus on self care. I've done the closed tranquility pod 3 times and it is amazing. I like it dark with the lid closed. I have them put on relaxing music and I float. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I focus on my breathing, sometimes I give myself a pep talk -- but I always leave feeling like a weight has been lifted. It also helps my sleep something I've been really struggling with. The facility is beautiful and clean, the people who work there are nice, and I like the peace I feel after an hour float. I love this place! Friends gave me a gift certificate. I was a little skeptical about all this floating therapy stuff, but decided to suspend my judgement and give it a go. I LOVED it!!! I floated in a private tub, with twinkle lights above me that looked like stars...and it was so peaceful and relaxing that I almost fell asleep. This place is tucked away on the end of North Pitt street in a biz complex in a basement location. Once I actually found it, walked in not knowing what to expect but pleasantly surprised at the sleek decor, very beautifully decorated. There's a reception area and a small waiting/relaxing area off to the side. I do wish that waiting/relax space was a bit more secluded or separate from the reception space but if you don't plan on lounging around after your service it's fine. I went for a 60 minute float in the open pool. The owner took me on a tour and showed me the room, explained the lighting option, help button, shower, etc. then left me to float! It took some getting used to lying there in complete silence (I didn't have music) with ambient lighting. I turned off the light for complete darkness for 3 minutes and swore I was going to get dragged to the bottom of the abyss, my mind was playing tricks on me so I turned the dim lights back on quickly LOL. I like the fact that you can book with friends for the same time in separate pools OR in 2 person pools - there's options for different pool styles (cabin, open pool, pod) and lighting - I felt in control of my comfort the entire time. Took about 20 minutes to completely relax but once I did the time sped by and I didn't want to leave. Overhead lights came on at the end of the session and I made my way to the "beauty bar" to get some hair products and lotion then made my way back to the lounge area for tea. Chatted with the owner a bit more then left with a promise to return soon! My friend and I are already talking about dates to book for next month and possibly getting a monthly membership! I have visited this spot twice in the past month; both times I booked a 30 min IR Sauna followed by a 60 min float. I've really, truly, completely loved the experiences! The sauna is hot, but the sweating, detoxing, pore cleansing opportunities are worth it! The float experience is amazing. Super relaxing and comfortable. The first time I floated in the early evening; the second time was around lunch. After my first float, I felt so unbelievably relaxed. After the second float, I felt happy and invigorated. The staff here are very pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. The facility is immaculate, attractive, and serene. I'll probably end up joining their monthly membership program this spring!!! My brother and I are both active duty military and wanted to try one of these out since we've read a lot about them. We weren't sure what to expect since we had never done one of these before. The whole area was really nicely decorated, clean, and had a nice welcoming feel to it. The staff was friendly and the owner was very nice and helpful. He is a veteran as well and his business is VERY pro-military which is always great. The float session was very relaxing, and I look forward to trying another session sometime soon. It took a few minutes for me to be able to fully relax, but once I did it was nice. I felt refreshed afterwards! I saw Heather for a manual lymphatic drainage massage after having liposuction to get everything healing and feeling better and man was it worth it! I felt so much better just after one session and am counting the days until I can visit again. Facility: First time here two weeks ago. The owner was nice and friendly. I came here to try flotation for the first time, for an hour. The facility is new and the flooring in the float room is made to be wet. It is a neat place. Experience: An hour was too much for me. Since this was my first time, I didn't think my body adjusted well to the orientation for more than 30 minutes since I began to feel nauseated. I had a scratch and placed petroleum on my foot. I pressed the call button because the pain in my foot was so bad that I wanted to reschedule. I pressed it twice but no one picked up, so I decided to put the area above water, soon the pain went away. I didn't like the fact that the call button was not answered... hence I docked off one star for that. Condiments: They have earplugs for you, spray for your face in case salt gets on your face, petroleum jelly for any scratches. Recommendation: do not shave or go in if you have deep cuts. The salt will definitely hurt. There was tea and a waiting room as well as the area to dry your hair, put lotion on (because your skin will feel better after being in water for a long time). Everything was good. Reason why I docked off another star: Cryotherapist was friendly in the beginning (not part of the infrared sauna or flotation services) before I started, but she sat with the owner in the front. After my shower, she asked me how my experience was and I told her I felt nauseated since I was not used to it which was okay, because it was my first time. After that, she did not speak to me again when she passed by me in the hallway twice (did not say goodbye); as if my experience is not something she wanted to hear again. I found that extremely rude. I would not come again because of how she treated me. If you are going to ask me how my treatment was (regardless of how pleasant or unpleasant it was for the client), don't ignore just because it was not what you wanted to hear or expected to. This has nothing to with the owner of the flotation services, but definitely made me feel unwelcome here at the studio. read more

The first time I went to this place I had a calf sprain from cycling for 2-3 months that I couldn't shake. Nothing serious, but definitely there and annoying. After my first float, the next day the pain was gone, and it hasn't been back. So then I sprained my MCL snow skiing, and after I got back in town, I went once and I thought it did some good. So I went another time about 7 days later, and it seemed to pretty much knock out most of the pain. I've been impressed. Also, the first time after I went I had such a great night's sleep, which is kinda rare for me, but that may have been a coincidence. I think some professional athletes are into full-body Epsom soaks to help recover. I also weight lift, and I think it's supposed to flush out some of the lactic acid, so I could really use that every once in a while. It's a lovely place. Clean, peaceful; there is one of those cool wall waterfalls near the rest lounge where you can go for a free cup of organic tea after your soak. It has salt lamps, too, I think. Also, they provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, q-tips, all kinds of niceties that you may need. So you take a shower and get in this pod that has, I think, 900 pounds of Epsom salt. It is big enough and then some. You can make it completely dark, or turn on the starry night lights, or the side lights. It feels nicely cocoon-like and surreal. I have managed to dose a few times, but then again, I'm not a great sleeper. Just like going in the ocean, if you get the water in your eyes or nose, it will sting. There is a cool water bottle and a washcloth to deal, but it's not fun. I manage to keep everything out of my nose and eyes most times. There's also a 2-person soak place that I think would be fun to go to with a significant other or good friend. Nudity required! You're in a tub, after all. I've done the infrared sauna, and that's nice, too. There's a nice monthly membership which I've used for discounts. read more
