Overpriced hair wash! No scalp massage. We came here for my wife's bday and we got the rose scalp massage, facial and 45 dollar foot soak. Overpriced and automatic 18% gratuity if you have a party of two. I spend over $600 and I was left alone for majority of the time. The services were provided less than half the time the other half they left the room or were grabbing supplies. I left with a back ache because I was on the table so long and less hair than what I came with. I do not recommend. There are other spa services in the area with better prices. I would not have left an 18% tip I understand why it's automatic. If I wasn't happy with my service why force the tip. Update: The business owner called to argue not to make accommodations and prove facts instead of trying to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Not open to feedback. I took a while to write this review because I don't like negative info to affect small business owners, but this just nagged at me for a while, now. The owner was my massage therapist. She addressed me and apologized for an anticipated wait. After some time, she led me to a room and we went through the regular song and dance about what my problem areas were, etc. I undressed and waited for her to come back. And waited and waited. She finally came in after about 15 minutes and apologized about a technical issue that she said only she can fix and said she'd be right back. WTF? She finally came back after I had waited on that table for damn near an hour. It was my first time there and I think she thought I was a newbie. I've gotten monthly massages for over 20 years and was looking for a new location after moving back to Alexandria. Also, I was not happy at all with the forced tipping situation. The receptionist, who was not all that friendly, presented me with a tablet to pay with the tip already entered. One should not be put in a position to have to ask to have the amount adjusted or removed. In addition, the "spa" is in an office building facing a major street - Richmond Highway. You can hear and feel the traffic even though there are no windows in the massage room. May be ok for foot work or facials but if you want a relaxing massage - this won't do. This was the most amazing spa from the time that we walked in. Everyone was so great! It was a calm atmosphere. We got the head and scalp spa with tingle treatment which was so relaxing! I was offered various teas, I went with the ginger and mint tea. It was refreshing. For my service, I received the African Marula - Scrub Foot Bath with the Charcuterie Board and champagne. It was what the doctor prescribed. They kept the bath at a nice temperature and would add additional hot water to your liking. The price is comparable to other spas in the area. The staff here was warm and it was a very relaxing environment. I felt at home. Also, while you're being pampered you'll get a heat weighted shoulder pillow. It added to the comfort. I did have some confusion about which door to go through but that's my fault by not looking ah the sign. Went to the kids spa instead. Anyways it was a really relaxing experience. I usually go to dc for my massages and facials; however, that is a distance from where I live now. I found Silk Rose Spa a good deal closer . This place is amazing! The entire staff if kind, considerate, very accommodating, and emit beautiful energy. They are generous with their comfort. I had the mini winter package, and it was well worth it . Everyone went out of their way to check on you whether they were helping you directly or not . The male masseuse was extraordinary. I stumbled upon this place and I'm glad I did. Needed a moment to Woosah and this place gave me that and more. From my initial contact to schedule the appt with Betty, she was able to squeeze me in... all smiles. I live about 30-40 mins from this place but worth the drive. Upon arrival, it's in leasing building, so there are a few other businesses but once you walk through the front door, you are greeted by warm faces and wonderful aroma. I waited for about 5 mins before I was greeted by Tia. She introduced herself to me and all that I would receive. I got the winter special and it was perfect. I forgot about the champagne and cheesecake mentioned in the booking, so I was pleasantly surprised. The massage was good but the facial was priceless. This place is truly a hidden gem. This place went to shit real fast. The manager was acting like a cop as she monitored cameras and watched our reactions and every move to her unprofessional employees, we were responding to her very unprofessional staff on the date of my spa appointment for a prenatal massage mind you. She calls my friend who scheduled the appointment on her personal cell to address how her front desk staff was feeling a way but nobody ever addressed her...we just told her that we asked for services in a particular order and the manager was aware. She/the manager goes on to explain that one of her staff members just lost their father and they were somewhat short staffed. Even though she said she'd honor the order in which we asked for. She said that "after she reviewed the transcript" she realized she never said such thing. Whatever that means lol Then I get ready for my massage and I try to break the ice and make small talk by asking where she was from... she sounded Russian or even German and I spent some time in Germany so I'm trying to just break the ice from all of the front desk miscommunication, her response: "I'm sorry are we talking about your massage" mad rude like! So I'm like okay I won't ask you nothing else... here she goes asking me about how much pressure I like, so I commence to tell her, she cuts me off mid sentence "okay thank you" ummm okay, now I'm wrong if I just get up and say never mind right? That's twice she's rude. Then she gives this lopsided massage, while left side getting way more time on it than my right side.When I'm done she said she' ll be back... never comes back. The next employee comes in to start her shift and I beg her to go my facial instead. She agreed but then the manager/owner rolls in there and tells me and my friend that the situation has snowballed, they failed us, and at this point they would rather comp us than to continue services. I'm like okay bye..... you'd rather lose out on $350 per person, a bad review and of course we'd never return or recommend your business to anyone we know. Poor leadership and bad business. As the customer your clients personal issues should never come across to the client and making what was suppose to be a stress free and relaxing day into a stressful and tense day at a spa is the last thing that should be happening. Then the owners lack of conflict resolution and acting like it's the clients word against her employees... I am too through. I recorded the conversation myself but Google only asks for photos. My best friend went to get services and I was so heart broken as I listened to the conversation her and the owner had while I was on the phone. The whole time I thought the owner was really listening to her needs and feelings but the whole time she was just figuring out how to tel my friend since she didn't like the services from the lady they appointed to do her services she can leave and end the services. What??? I told my friend the fact that you told her you weren't comfortable and they basically told you well we longer want to do services for you, I was shocked , you can chose who you give services too, but you can't make me allow someone to touch my body that I'm not comfortable with.
