Prioritizing patient care over profit, they don't throw the kitchen sink at you to see what works. I got to see Dr. Mark Bodzislaw for a few months and he really taught me a lot about how acupuncture should support your healing journey. I was new to acupuncture but had been wanting to try it for a while. I am so glad I did! Taejean Converti listened carefully to my concerns - including lots of work stress, some back pain, and wanting better sleep. I also love that she has ideas for herbs to try if you're curious, as well as tips and tricks like what to eat for better sleep and pressure points you can try on yourself at home. She has a ton of knowledge and really cares about what she does and how her patients are improving. She has also followed up between treatments to see how I am doing, something few in western medicine are ever able to do. Love my friends and family who are western doctors, but it's usually not a thing that comes with the territory. By the way, I've heard different reports about whether acupuncture hurts, so I was wondering whether the experience would be comfortable (though if it worked, I would do it regardless). Some people I know say acupuncture can indeed hurt, but with Taejean it's very gentle and there's never pain - she really takes pride in making sure you are completely comfortable, explains everything, and listens to any feedback you have. The needles are much thinner than anything you'd see in other contexts and you don't really feel them at all. Once they're placed, you relax for about 20 minutes...and I mean relax. It's a very calm and peaceful experience and while falling asleep is a problem for me in life in general, I've actually drifted off a couple of times, which I'm told is pretty common during acupuncture sessions. I never thought I'd look forward to this, but I do. I've been to about ten sessions and although my insurance doesn't cover it and I am paying out of pocket, I will continue to go. I'm seeing subtle but real changes in my sleep, but the big difference is in my mood - I just handle everything a lot better and the badness wears off quicker. Oh, and everyone else I've interacted with has been great, too. Super kind and understanding the one time I didn't make it to an appointment on time (unlike major places in the DC area) and the space is lovely and relaxing. Tranquil japanese acupuncture office and by that I mean only the best of Japan - chill vibe, clean, polite, friendly, respectful, experienced. Acupuncture that works for fibromyalgia for sure and judging by the numerous baby pix on the wall infertility also. I had a steroid shot from another doc that was very painful, and that pain disppeared in 20 mins via two needles and a heat lamp. Feels like what a massage wants to be. Total relaxation and pain dissapation. What's not to like? They are busy and are out of network but they are definitely worth the wait and the few extra bucks. read more

I started seeing Dr. Ueno in the summer of 2018 for my migraines and pain associated with knee and shoulder surgeries. I'd had acupuncture before from another provider, but it had been a while and I was very familiar with what acupuncture is and how the process goes. Dr. Ueno and his team are pure magic. And, he recently added Mr. Minku Kang, massage therapist. I'm a fitness instructor, at gym teaching or exercising 4-5 hours a day. I NEED a good weekly massage! LOL. Well, just had my first 45 minute session with Minku. Exceptional massage. Wow. Possibly best massage I've ever had. Why so high a rating? Minku clearly has great training and technique. Polite. Dr. Taejean Converti has completely shifted my understanding of tolerating pain and relying on counter pain meds for my bulging neck disc pain. After moving to a new place in late January, the disc slipped, and it was difficult to stand, sleep, lift my arm, and pretty much love without having to take a ton of ibuprofen or icing it for long periods. Today, I left my 5th session, and it has changed my life. No pain. My skin has dramatically changed, for the better. I eat and sleep better. My wife and I are on an extended visit from California. Back home we have been under regular chiropractic care for neck, shoulder, knee, and back issues. Once here, it quickly became apparent that we needed continued treatment. Our daughter recommended Dr. Ziegler, whose approach to treatment sounded similar to what we have been receiving at home. We called for appointments and immediately found the staff to be polite, professional, and accommodating. My wife was the first to see Dr. Ziegler and was immediately impressed by his friendly and reassuring demeanor. After the treatment for knee pain, she felt immediate relief and she feels better with each treatment. I have a tougher challenge with my plantar fasciitis which requires long term attention, but Dr. Ziegler's combination of electric, ultrasound, and needle treatment is making incremental difference. I am a surgeon specializing in microsurgery. I injured my left arm and although still able to function was experiencing intense (8 out of 10) pain while healing. Conventional anti-inflammatory and pain medicines plus rest did little to alleviate my pain. Upon a neighbor's recommendation, I saw Dr Ueno yesterday. His office is tidy and pleasant, and Sachiko at the front desk treated me graciously. Dr Ueno has a calming, reassuring bedside manner. I had my first acupuncture session, which was quite relaxing resting on a massage table in a warm dark room with tranquil music. I realized yesterday evening that my pain was gone! Dr. Tetsuhiro Ueno is an amazing doctor. I went in after going to several western doctors trying to understand why I was feeling tired all the time and having digestion issues. Dr. Ueno was so thorough and patient in explaining everything to me as it was my first time getting acupuncture and I knew little to nothing about it. His demeanor is extremely attentive and still relaxed so you feel ready for treatment and confident in his diagnosis. He listened to my symptoms and feelings (which means so much to me after being rushed and cut off in other doctor's offices), made a diagnosis for acupuncture and also recommended some Chinese herbs to take, all of which I found extremely effective. I very much looked forward to each of my sessions as I found the acupuncture needle treatment itself very relaxing; during most visits I fell asleep in the comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Ueno has a gentle hand and I hardly noticed the needles going in at all. His wife works at the reception desk and is so friendly, helpful, and very quick to respond. They really worked hard to get appointments in around my work schedule, notifying me as soon as any spots opened up during busy weeks. And a huge bonus: there's free parking the front of the building. I feel very confident that they're genuinely there to help me and all their patients with their health more than anything. After 5 sessions the Dr. told me my body was regulated and if I wanted to stop treatment I could. My digestion issues are gone and I have way more energy than I did when I started sessions. While I know I don't need regular sessions anymore, I'm looking forward to a tune-up in a few months. I definitely recommend you come here if you're looking for help with your health! My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Mark Bodzislaw for a few weeks now, and it is hard to express just how much better we feel in such a short amount of time. During the pandemic our stress levels increased dramatically, resulting in actual physical symptoms we had never encountered before. My husband and I first started seeing an acupuncturist in 2014. The acupuncture routine included Minku's "body manipulation" and helped us a lot with my chronic lower back pain, Lyme disease, Migraine...etc and my husband who had back issues (Ruptured/herniated discs, arthritis...etc) that resulted in recommendations to get surgery. But with the combination of acupuncture and body manipulation, he was able to put off the surgical option. Unfortunately for us, Minku left the practice in 2017 and since then somehow my symptoms were just getting worse. I searched for new acupuncturist and found Dr. Ueno. I started his treatment in January and he has helped relieve my extreme pain and stiffness from head to toe. Even with these successes, I know my many complicated symptoms would take bit of time to be eliminated. Excitingly, "Minku" started working with Dr. Ueno and now we have been able to received his treatment again!! My husband and I missed this so much as his approach provided us with the relieve from pain that we needed. But you must know this is not an ordinally "Spa" type massage. Has anyone done "Ashitsubo/Ashiura massage" (Reflexology)? Minku's style is kind of like that. It may hurt as he is breaking down areas of tension, but it does not leave bruises. It will loosen stubborn stiffness and knotting, relieving the pain you are experiencing. Also know that, it doesn't hurt on every spot he touches. For example, when he works on my neck, it only hurts my right side and not left side due to my migraine are always right side. Minku's approach for my husband has been to work along his spine, separating each disk to remove pressure on the nerves that cause pain. This approach has expanded the spine, allowed the disks to remain in their appropriate place, allowed for proper healing and blood flow, thus relieving pain. Now with both Dr. Ueno and Minku providing treatments, I am sure we can get back to our normal pain free lives. I would highly recommend both styles of treatment for pain relief, as it has been extremely helpful for both my husband and me. read more

I saw Dr Ueno for fertility issues. Unfortunately, I had to move and was unable to see him for longer than a few months. In that time, while I did not become pregnant, ALL of my PMS issues were resolved. There was no doubt that something positive was happening within my body. I wish I had been able to continue seeing him. The facility is lovely - modern and clean, and I never had to wait for an appointment. Despite being stuck with needles - I really enjoyed coming here!!
