I've since been under the expert care of Dr. Ueno who is a consummate professional who is clearly passionate about helping his patients. I was new to acupuncture but had been wanting to try it for a while. I am so glad I did! Taejean…read moreConverti listened carefully to my concerns - including lots of work stress, some back pain, and wanting better sleep. I also love that she has ideas for herbs to try if you're curious, as well as tips and tricks like what to eat for better sleep and pressure points you can try on yourself at home. She has a ton of knowledge and really cares about what she does and how her patients are improving. She has also followed up between treatments to see how I am doing, something few in western medicine are ever able to do. Love my friends and family who are western doctors, but it's usually not a thing that comes with the territory. By the way, I've heard different reports about whether acupuncture hurts, so I was wondering whether the experience would be comfortable (though if it worked, I would do it regardless). Some people I know say acupuncture can indeed hurt, but with Taejean it's very gentle and there's never pain - she really takes pride in making sure you are completely comfortable, explains everything, and listens to any feedback you have. The needles are much thinner than anything you'd see in other contexts and you don't really feel them at all. Once they're placed, you relax for about 20 minutes...and I mean relax. It's a very calm and peaceful experience and while falling asleep is a problem for me in life in general, I've actually drifted off a couple of times, which I'm told is pretty common during acupuncture sessions. I never thought I'd look forward to this, but I do. I've been to about ten sessions and although my insurance doesn't cover it and I am paying out of pocket, I will continue to go. I'm seeing subtle but real changes in my sleep, but the big difference is in my mood - I just handle everything a lot better and the badness wears off quicker. Oh, and everyone else I've interacted with has been great, too. Super kind and understanding the one time I didn't make it to an appointment on time (unlike major places in the DC area) and the space is lovely and relaxing. If you've been considering acupuncture, go see Taejean. This isn't a placebo thing - it's a "there's good science behind this and it works" thing.

Paul is more than a chiropractor--he's a healer, a magician. He takes the time to listen to you, your body, and your needs. He thoughtfully adjusts what's necessary and works through the muscle tension surrounding problem areas, providing real relief. After just one treatment, I'm extremely pleased with the results. I don't require regular maintenance, but I do experience occasional flare-ups. Having visited more "convenient" chiropractors in the past, I can confidently say that whether you need ongoing care or help in a pinch, you're in excellent hands. He understands what he's doing, and I feel significantly better. Thank you, Paul!

Sorry in advance... this will be a long one. I really can't say enough great things about Dr. Paul…read more He is the best and his entire goal is to make sure you only need to see him once or twice a year, if that. I have been going to a chiropractor to relieve chronic neck and back pain for years - since I was in my 20s and it always consisted of 3 appointments a week for 5/10 min with those electromagnetic pads... you know the routine. With Dr. Paul, he spends 30 min or an hour on you depending on how much time he needs, and he works on you from head to toe. I used to have chronic neck and shoulder pain but I have not experienced that type of pain since seeing him. If I do have pain, I may see him once a year. he also pads his appts with 15 minutes of time in between just for free touch ups! I have sent every client, friend and family member to him. He is a miracle worker and I would gladly pay out of pocket for that kind of care, even with insurance. It's worth EVERY CENT- although you can absolutely submit to your insurance for reimbursement! My husband was on of the biggest skeptics when I first told him about Dr Paul. It took at least one or two years before he actually went bc I paid for the appt in advance. But after just one visit, he became Dr. Paul's biggest fan. I also brought a good friend who was dealing with chronic hip pain for at least a year or two after a fall. She was scared to go but after nagging her for a couple years, she finally went and Dr. Paul fixed her in one visit. Granted she is still scared to go to any chiropractor but I am sure if she felt bad, he would be the first person she thinks of. I feel we are so lucky to be in Alexandria and have access to him, but I know people travel in from all over to see him bc he really is the best. I can go on and on but I think you get the hint. I couldn't believe he even had any (less than) 5 star reviews, but after reading them, it made me so sad for those 1 or 2 people. The reviews are clearly not even close to being accurate.

A few years ago, my case worsened as I started experiencing infrequent seizures, which completely changed my medical situation. Because of this new development, one of the neck adjustments treatments actually triggered a bad reaction and sent me to the ER. My last visit at Connecticut Ave. NW office was a good routine adjustment. While I am not healed yet, every visit safely relieves the massive tension and build-up numbness. Years ago, I originally wanted to see Dr. Reza, but instead I listened to several medical doctors who recommended back surgery. I went through with the surgery hoping it would solve my problems. While it provided a small amount of relief, most of the pain remained and eventually became even worse. I was dealing with constant lower back pain that affected nearly every part of my daily life. On top of that, I had numbness and shooting pain that traveled down my left arm all the way to my elbow. Driving was miserable. I have a 1 hour and 20 minute commute to work, and by the time I arrived I would be wincing in pain and constantly shifting my body around trying to find some relief. When I finally came to Metropolitan Headache and Spine Center, Dr. Reza took the time to listen to what I was experiencing and identify the areas causing the most trouble. The results have honestly been remarkable. Not only did he address the constant pain in my lower back, but the numbness and shooting pain down my left arm also disappeared. Today, I can make that long commute to work without constantly adjusting my position or counting down the minutes until I can get out of the car. My quality of life has improved significantly. The biggest endorsement I can give is this: after seeing my results, my wife now comes here as well. That's how much confidence I have in Dr. Reza and his team. Do I still have some discomfort every once in a blue moon? Sure. But it is nothing compared to what I was dealing with before. The difference is night and day. I'm not saying this is the answer for everyone, but I am saying it worked for me. If you're struggling with back pain, neck pain, headaches, or nerve pain, I would strongly recommend at least having a conversation with Dr. Reza and his team to see if they can help. And if you happen to watch the videos on their page, you might even find me on there. Fair warning - there are definitely some loud cracks ;-) Thank you, Dr. Reza and the entire staff, for helping me get back to living my life.
