I sought acupuncture as a part of my treatment since I had been diagnosed with neurological Lyme disease, similar to MS. With this disease I was battling many health issues due to the number of co-infections I contracted from the disease, leaving my immune system severely challenged. If you have Lyme disease it is extremely challenging and complicated as well as unfortunately being highly misunderstood by the medical community. Realizing that conventional medicine did not have the answers is why I turned to functional medicine and really began to heal in the last two years. In the past, before I was diagnosed and still seeking conventional medicine, I did try acupuncture for the first time and it really did help me significantly with my seizure disorder that I developed from Lyme. That was a turning point for me to seeking help elsewhere. By the way I was on three anti-seizure drugs that did not work and acupuncture was the break through to beginning to alleviate it. Western medicine is finally catching up to what we already to know to be a valid and extremely helpful practice. I would like to say that I have worked with other acupuncturist in the past who were great, but having acupuncture with Dr. Ueno was a very significant part to my continuous healing. He is certainly part of my success. He is exceptionally intuitive about what the body needs in terms of support to heighten healing. He is also very generous and kind as is his wife who works in the front. My healing has been a very long and hard process because there are many layers and it can be hard to turn the tides. I definitely feel like we broke through a great deal and couldn't be happier with my results. I no longer have seizures, and I am having more and more energy as well as reasonably pain free days. Best of all is my brain is functioning reasonably well and I have a return to most mental faculties at this point that I had lost. I could not recommend this practice more. Appointment days and times are limited, and sessions did not take longer than 10 minutes, and seems to take less and less each time; with the amount you pay, you'd think that there would be more of a check-in and a follow-up rather than just a quick adjustment and an 'adios'. We felt like we were just a numbered item going through an assembly line; so much so that the last (and, final) visit led to both the front staff and the chiropractor to completely forget that we were in a room, waiting. With the wait time becoming ridiculous, we knew that something was off - we left the room and realized that there was no communication or notification that a patient was waiting. How awful is that? I understand that sometimes, mistakes can happen, but the way that this was handled was extremely poor and left a bad taste in our mouths - there was blaming on the staff and absolutely no ownership of the mistake(s) that had happened. Searched for chiropractors on Yelp, view the search list, looked at the stars, read the reviews, decided on Kingstowne Family Chiropractic. 1/3/25 approximately 1:30pm I walk in, no one in sight, 1 minute later a friendly face appears "hello can I help you". I say hello are you taking new patients, the woman responded "yes", I followed with I need an adjustment today if possible but I'll take the next available appointment, I'm in pain and have discomfort in my neck, shoulders and hips. The woman immediately asked me about insurance, I provided her the insurance information but informed her my policy did not take effect until February and that I would be paying out of pocket. Immediately the woman says "we don't take your insurance", I said no problem I'll pay out of pocket. Immediately the woman say "well we're about to close but I can refer you to Dr. Connolly at the Spine Center, he takes your insurance ". I said I understand but I'm in pain and I'm paying out of pocket as my insurance does not take effect until February, the woman writes Dr. Connolly's name on the back of her business card and says "he can help you, we're about to close and I'm going on vacation so I can't schedule you". I said thank you and enjoy your vacation, I walk out the door, drive over to visit Dr. Connolly at the Spine Center... it's closed. I'm not sure why I was dismissed as I was at Kingstowne Family Chiropractic which had such great reviews but this is certainly not a practice that cares about a person being in pain and having chiropractic discomfort. * I would also like to add, I think the majority of the reviews on Yelp are fake, with the exception of my recent review, the reviews for the business are all from years ago, all 5 star, and the reviewers have little to no pictures or other reviews/contributions... that is definitely a red flag.
