Balian Springs - COLD, BUT OH SO GOOD!!

I had a GREAT day!…read more We came on a Tuesday during the week and I loved it! It was relaxing and not overly busy, but did get busier as the day went, but it still wasn't overly crowded. We hung out there from noon to 8PM, so yes, we spent most of the day there and didn't even feel the need for any spa treatments! I loved that they supplied slippers and you could walk around with slippers instead of running around barefoot to everywhere. I would have given it five stars if it weren't for some of the jets not working, the temperature in some of the pools not matching the water temperature, the sauna rooms not hot enough, and the small menu of food options. But I did love that they had a media room to relax and watch TV, have an amazing pool upstairs which was the most crowded of all the places, and different places to just relax. So I was definitely relaxed! We enjoyed the main level pool the most and I loved that they served alcohol! So we had the option for drink or two. There were no kids either! So I would say this is a perfect getaway for adults for a one day trip!

From the door entry, the chlorine smell is heavy. The space smells like a public rec pool…read more Everything feels artificial down to the fake plants BUT everything is clean. The sauna rooms weren't nearly hot enough, they're stingy with the towels and keep them inconveniently far away, and the elevator wasn't working. I can do stairs just fine, but the people I was with could not. Then you have a place promoting health and wellness while serving drinks loaded with sugar. Like we say in Spanish: mucha espuma con poco chocolate. And somehow, Balian Springs is also more expensive than King Spa, Spa World and Parkside. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the staff are top and diverse. Other than that, it's fake AF.

I was gifted a sauna massage package. Here's what I discovered. Wow, what a place! I've never had…read moresuch an experience. It's a huge place in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. After purchase, you're given a key for the shoe locker, uniform, and towel. From there you go to the men's or women's locker room and that same key opens your clothes locker. Your gender specific pool is right off that locker room and clothing is optional. It is a bit of a maze to get to the saunas, cafe, and restaurant (Signage or instructions would be helpful) to the saunas! I did the red clay and got to lay in beads in a room that was 142 degrees, relaxing ! From there I went up the stairs to my massage. The best 30 minute massage in my life! Yes she is walking on you with the most talented toes and heels. It felt like a trip to the chiropractor and masseuse in one!! Please be aware of the pricing. A tip is expected and if you don't know and guess at a gratuity that's not close to the mark, you'll hear about it (ask me how I know ;).

I've been coming to and loving the relaxation of Spa World since they opened--more than 15…read moreyears--and I'm incredibly disappointed by how much the prices have increased while the quality and customer service have declined. The bade pool has always been one of my favorite parts of Spa World and is normally around 95-98°F, a comfortable temperature for soaking before a Korean body scrub. Today it was hovering between 102-103°F--essentially hot-tub temperature. Even the kiddie pool was too hot. In the middle of a D.C.-area heat wave, who wants to come inside from 90+ degree weather and soak in 102-degree water? On a Sunday, the usually busy bade pool was practically empty, with people instead hovering around the ice plunge because there really wasn't a comfortable-temperature pool to use. I let the attendant know and another staff member. No change. This is especially frustrating because you're supposed to soak for about 30 minutes before a body scrub to soften the skin. I couldn't comfortably do that and had to use the showers instead. Management showed no interest in adjusting the pool temperature or otherwise addressing the problem. I was still paying the now-$150 price for my 50-minute spa special scrub. I simply asked that they refund my $25 admission because the primary facility I came to use was essentially unusable. The manager looked at me like my request was ridiculous and refused and insisted the temperature of the main pool fluctuates. (Of course it does, but NOT THAT HOT!) After more than 15 years as a loyal customer, it's astonishing that Spa World would rather lose me as a customer than address the problem or refund $25. I won't be back.

I'm so sad to read the poor reviews and have to say I've never done a monthly contract but my dad…read morein NJ has and given his multiple medical Complications they've been really nice with helping him pause and manage it as need be.... On my end I do packages and have had wonderful experiences with the staff... I've never had a dirty room and they're always willing to text and call me to help me book ... the quality of their saunas are excellent and you actually get WAY more with the plunge and vitamin c showers compared to other studios charging similar prices for sauna only and no shower or plunge ... they're also VERY generous with shower caps / makeup wipes / hair ties / blow drying station / deodorant / dry shampoo etc (again other sauna studios DO NOT) have that ... I hope the reviews get updated as more folks go and have good experiences!

There's also a tv that swivels out so you can watch or listen to music while in the sauna. I like the ease of getting back and forth from the sauna to the cold plunge but the space is a bit small for two people. I've heard other locations are bigger. The vitamin C shower was pretty nice too. It smells really good and I'm sure in the long run would help with my skin complexion. The cold plunge is pretty cold but you feel very refreshed afterwards. Start slow and ease your way into staying longer and for more rounds. The only thing I wish they had was a separate changing space so you don't feel like you're rushing to get changed before your session ends.

Love this studio-- so grateful they're in DC. Now they must come to Bethesda!…read more Beautiful space, extremely hygienic. Amazing products and staff

I'm so happy that this studio opened up in Washington, DC. The location is wonderful, located…read moreright in the heart of Georgetown and the interior space is beautiful. I recently followed my partner back to DC from LA (let me add, kicking and screaming!). But having this studio has been such a wonderful addition to the health scene in DC. In LA, infrared therapy and float studios are incredibly common. In fact, there was a studio less than a 5 minute walk from my condo in West Hollywood (and I'd walk, which is something you never hear anyone say in LA). But I must say, this studio is way nicer than pretty much all of them I went to in LA. It reminds me of a chain that I used to go to in LA called Shape House, which closed due to the lack of business during the pandemic. I haven't tried the float session yet, but have taken advantage of the new business special to try out their infrared session. The studio is set up with individual rooms, each with a TV set where you strip down and can watch Netflix or a variety of other programs. Each session is 45 minutes, which is okay. Though, I do like a full 60 minute session like my old West Hollywood studio offers. I always found that last 15 minutes to be so grueling as the room is heated to about 180 degrees. They have a variety of products for sale at the front. I love their detox kit for $10, which includes a pack of activated charcoal (the same brand I'd buy at Erewon in LA), a pack of hydration powder and a vitamin C pack. There is also complimentary tea that you can enjoy after. There are various claims about the weight loss benefit of infrared saunas, but I do it for the incredible metal state I have afterward. I sleep so well at night and I feel so much more positive after a session. Check it out!

1 Star -- Absolutely Terrible Customer Service…read more I called Fountains Day Spa to schedule several treatments for my girlfriend's birthday weekend. I was looking forward to surprising her with a nice spa day and was prepared to spend several hundred dollars. Unfortunately, the way I was treated over the phone was unbelievable. The woman I spoke with was rude and abrupt almost from the beginning. She repeatedly reminded me about their 100% cancellation fee. I told her several times that I understood the policy and had absolutely no problem with it, but she just kept bringing it up. She then asked if we were new customers. I told her yes and mentioned the 15% new-client discount advertised on their website. I was literally reading the promotion directly from their website while speaking with her. It clearly explains that the discount applies to one full-priced service and cannot be combined with other offers. Nowhere on that page does it say the discount is only available Tuesday through Thursday. She told me that restriction was listed somewhere else on their website. When I questioned why it wasn't clearly stated with the advertised promotion, she acknowledged that their website needed to be corrected. I simply asked if they would honor what was advertised. She flat-out refused. What bothered me most wasn't even the discount. It was her attitude. She became increasingly rude, kept cutting me off, and acted like I was wasting her time just by asking questions. Then she snapped at me, basically asking, "Are you going to book it or not?" I remained polite and respectful throughout the entire conversation. I never raised my voice, never became disrespectful, and wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. When I finally told her I wasn't comfortable booking an appointment after being treated that way, she abruptly hung up on me. Seriously? That's how you treat someone calling to spend several hundred dollars at your business? I have no idea whether I was speaking with the owner, manager, or receptionist, but whoever it was should not be handling customers that way. I was simply trying to plan something special for my girlfriend's birthday. Instead, I got an unpleasant phone call with someone who seemed more concerned about cancellation fees and collecting money than providing decent customer service. I'm not reviewing their actual spa treatments because we never got that far. I'm reviewing how I was treated as a first-time customer trying to make a reservation. Businesses can have whatever policies they choose, but they should clearly communicate them and treat customers with respect. And if your own website has incorrect promotional information, don't take that frustration out on the customer asking about it. Fountains Day Spa didn't lose my business over a 15% discount. They lost it because of how I was treated. I certainly wouldn't recommend booking a special occasion here based on my experience. I'll gladly spend my money somewhere that actually appreciates its customers.
