The most amazing bday gift my best friend could have given me was a custom spray by Stephanie. Keep in mind, time from the owner of the shop will run you a little extra but it was the best experience. She truly has it all, from the demeanor, the killer tan to inspire you, the calming presence, the disposable nipple covers or underwear, water, you name it. It was so thoughtful, even the little studio was heated to make sure you aren't cold while you stand there getting sprayed with a custom cocktail. I liked how it smelled and how quick it was! I've never had a spray tan before but wanted to have a little color for my engagement portraits in March, being naturally super fair skinned... like one or two levels up from the lightest foundation. I was worried about looking fake or orange, but Maria listened to my concerns and formulated the right level of darkness. It can be kind of awkward having someone spray you down while you're nearly in your birthday suit, but Maria was good at not making me feel uncomfortable by chatting with me and telling funny stories. Tips: read the instruction sheet beforehand! Wear your dark loose sweatsuit and expect to not wear a bra on the way home. Plan to shower at whatever time they tell you to that night. I bought the lotion and shower gel they recommended to extend the tan -- it was reasonably priced. Make sure to smell the Hempz lotions beforehand like Maria warned me, because the plain looking one smells like bubblegum unexpectedly, which just wasn't my thing. So I picked a different one. You're not supposed to work out the next day or sweat too much until you really scrub it off, and I was bad and did a gym workout anyways, trying not to sweat the whole time. It didn't mess things up too much. All in all -- 5/5, I definitely recommend; it gave me the touch of color I needed for my portraits! read more

It's funny how many times they make you acknowledge the 5 minute hard out on appointment times (if you arrive 6 minutes late you're out of luck) just to run late on their end, forcing you to sit in the fumes for an extra twenty minutes before they even get started. I can understand if it was a one-time thing with the timing, but I do wonder why they don't open up more windows and purchase more air filters for such a high-end place (by the pricing, at least). Stefani was such an amazing person to work with on getting a spray tan, even for a newbie like me! I had never gotten one before, but after what seemed like a million years quarantining from COVID, I felt like I could use a pick me up. I visited the Sola Salon location in Ballston, and Stefani was super welcoming and made me feel comfortable in the entire process. She gave me really clear instructions on how to take care of the tan, before and after. It was also SUPER quick! I think there's always a perpetual fear with spray tans on being too orange/too dark/too patchy, but the tan was like magic - it really made my skin toned overall and it looked great! While being busy is always a great thing from a business owner's point of view, there are never appointments available here, which makes it incredibly difficult to be a loyal customer. Fast forward to scheduling my appointment today, having it accepted, then receiving the appointment confirmation text message from the business. After rearranging my work meetings to accommodate the appointment, the owner texts me and nonchalantly communicates to me that I shouldn't have been able to make the appointment and that she would be cancelling it. No offer to fit me in somewhere else, on that day, or any other, but she did include the link to their scheduling system so I could schedule another appointment. If your system is broken and you are the issue and not the customer, at LEAST attempt to absorb the labor and show some effort in working to find them a new appointment. Do not pass Go, do not collect any of my money in the future. Update: The owner texted me again, asking me to provide information that would help them fix their booking system issues. I'm not a regular tanner, thought I'd feel super uncomfortable and weird about it. But they made the entire process so chill and comfortable! Great personalities and the space is so so clean.
