I work outdoors, so my skin tone changes constantly depending on the season and sun exposure. After researching, I found The Bronze Collective and hoped for the best -- and I was honestly blown away. From the moment I walked into the beautifully decorated studio, I felt welcomed. Stefani greeted me right away and took the time to really get to know me. We talked through my skin tone, lifestyle, and goals, and together came up with a plan to achieve the exact look I wanted. She explained every step of the process, made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and was the ultimate hype woman when I told her I was getting the tan for my engagement photos. When photo day came (24 hours after the tan), I was absolutely obsessed with how I looked -- and so was my fiancé! He loved it so much that now he wants to go too and wants me to make this a regular thing. Safe to say, I'll definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Edited: I love this place alot but the whole 24 hours between tanning is a bit much. I've been to…read moretanning salons many times over the years. My work schedule is nuts. I want to go in every day to tan but because of their strict policy, they legit hold you to 24 hours. I went in yesterday and was "2 hours early" to tan, meaning it was 22 hours after I tanned, not 24 hours so they wanted me to go back later or the next day. It's NOT convenient at all. I'm a big girl (50 years old) and know I should wait til the next day to tan, but picking it down to the exact 24 hour time limit is annoying. I will more than likely try to find another place to accomodate my schedule. Here's my first review: Let me tell you about my latest escape--not to the beaches of the Bahamas, but to a tanning salon right here in Virginia, where the only thing predictable about the weather is its unpredictability. So, finding a place where the sun is always shining? Absolute gold! Popped into this new spot yesterday. The front desk was swamped, but the gal handling it deserved a medal--or at least a helper with superpowers. Despite the amount of people who had the same idea I did, she got me signed up for the "Big Daddy" package because if you're going to treat yourself, you might as well go all out. Now, let's talk about the Diamond Prism sunbed. OMG. This isn't just a tanning bed; it's a first-class ticket to relaxation town. Roomy enough to stretch out, curl up, or do pilates, (but who wants to risk a tan mishap?), it's equipped with all the perks: AC, quick heat-up, and a mist that feels like a tropical breeze. The Bluetooth lets me blast my favorite jams while I'm tanning to perfection. Honestly, is it so wrong to want to stay in there just a bit longer? Sometimes a girl needs a break from real life! With red light therapy included, it's like my skin gets a mini spa treatment while I'm getting bronzed. It's a two-for-one deal that my mid-life, fabulous-self absolutely appreciates. Whether it's a grey day or just a break from the grind, this bed is my new go-to spot for a quick getaway. So, to all my fellow ladies (or gents) in their prime who still want to look hot as hell, this place is a game changer. Just remember to treat your skin right--nobody's aiming to look like a sun-dried fruit roll-up! They have some fantastic skin products at the desk that are totally worth checking out. It's like a little vacation every time I go. Five stars from me, and here's to hoping every visit is as sunny as the first!

Main reason for 3 stars is because of their student ID policy: you can only use your student ID if…read moreit has an expiration date on it. Mine doesn't, and there's nothing I can do about that since my school doesn't print them on their IDs. I said that I could provide an actual certificate of enrollment or a "Good Student Discount Certificate" from the National Student Clearing House, multiple other different ways of bona fide verification and she wouldn't let me. The woman at the front desk said that's the only way "she" (purportedly the owner/boss, who is not her) allows them to do it. I explained that those are just as good as a date on a card, but she still wouldn't let me and told me that "it was only $5 more so it's not that big of a deal." It was actually $8 more, and if that money isn't that big of a deal, they should have been fine with honoring my ID with multiple certificates. I'm not upset about compliance with the policy (other than the fact that telling someone to pay more money "isn't that big of a deal" is rude) but rather the policy itself; I think that disallowing someone to show other bona fide (arguably more credible) methods of enrollment verification is arbitrary. Seems like they try to get students in by having the student discount rate but ultimately not allowing them to use it so they still get the full price. Otherwise, the spray tan in the VersaSpa was mostly fine, I have been tanning in VersaPros regularly for about 5 years, and they have 3 nozzles (as opposed to the VersaSpa's 2) and I feel like I get a better tan with the VersaPros, so I feel like $35 is a little much to charge. Additionally, the mist coming from the nozzles felt very light, which means the nozzles probably haven't been cleaned, leaving your spray lighter. However, after only a couple minutes outside, the spray completely came off/ran under my boobs, which has never happened with any VersaPro I've used. It was also very light on my legs, but that happens with every Versa I've used. The nice thing about this place is that they provide towels, baby wipes, feet protectors for the bottom of your feet, hair ties, shower caps, and barrier cream, which is more than the norm where I usually tan. She also told me about after tan care, including mentioning that Dove products take all Versa sprays off, which I never knew. TL;DR: don't expect to use your student discount, tan is ok, customer service is mixed.

Lights off. No staff. Nothing. Their sign said Sunday "By Appointment Only," yet apparently even when you have an appointment, no one shows up. I called their Bethesda location, and the first receptionist claimed we weren't in the system--even though I booked on Wednesday at 2:22 PM (I checked my call log and took a screenshot). Someone took all of my details including my credit card, but somehow my appointment "didn't exist." Then the owner got on the phone and said she actually could see me in their system but didn't know what happened. She blamed a software switch on Tuesday... but I booked on Wednesday. So that excuse made no sense. Her only solution was to ask if we could come tomorrow. No, we actually can't--because unlike her business, we plan ahead. I took the weekend off from my real estate schedule to celebrate. We booked a hotel in Tysons, hired a dog sitter, and made a whole day of this. And it was completely wasted. What really stunned me was the total lack of care. No apology that felt meaningful. No attempt to make it right. No offer of a complimentary service. Nothing. I'm a business owner myself, and I would never handle a mistake like this this way. Our anniversary plans were basically ruined because this spa didn't bother to honor our confirmed appointment--or provide any real remedy afterward. Don't waste your time or money here. If they can't handle a simple booking, I wouldn't trust them with anything else either.
