I NEVER take it off my power cord. Ever. It's always in my truck cause it's the only place I need to use it. So I went back inside and complained to the manager. He acted like he didn't know what to say. I didn't have physical proof that one of his guys stole my adaptor, so I told him "I'm just wanting to make you aware because I'm not happy about this." My heater stopped working, engine began smoking (coolant), and upper left radiator hose blew a few days later. I was told by a different auto garage (Wiygul, which I discovered to be equally disreputable!) that the coolant was the wrong type and there was sludge in the system. When I called Take 5 back and asked about $120 added to my oil change bill, I was told that the coolant was changed and not flushed! Bait and switch, anyone?

The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage.
