I told them what I was there for, and they pointed the way to the second floor. All concerns were out the door at that point, except for my fear of heights, but I made it. Anyways, it took maybe all of 10 minutes, $60, and I was out the door with my goods. I'll likely go back there for all the other accessories, holsters, etc. They have an excellent selection for pretty much anything you're into, and the prices seemed to be on par with expectations. I would highly recommend.

Drawback: we had to call to check on the status, and since it is a small establishment, things aren't very computerized or filed. (?) However, once we were able to identify the bow, we were told it was ready to be worked on, just needed some questions answered. Additional fixes were suggested to give it a one-and-done service, to which we agreed. We were able to pick it up on Christmas Eve to gift it back to our nephew with new arrows in great shape. It was not cheap, but we thought it to be reasonable for the amount of rehabbing that was done. Would totally recommend.

I am on a quest to add heavier weights to my collection and I went on a fruitless mission recently…read moreto this Dick's location. The selection is paltry (I could only find one 25 and one 30 lb weight, unless I wanted to go with the kind that is uncomfortable to hold) and quite messy, with stuff all over the place. I'd expect more from a sporting goods store. I also didn't see staff anywhere in the vicinity of the weights. To put things into perspective, Academy Sports, which I consider to be a store with lower quality products overall, had more of a selection than Dick's. I'd prefer not to order through the mail. So much for having less of a carbon footprint.

Pssst. Hey man, are you a cop? Don't you like have to tell me if you are?…read more Barney's may have "police supplies" in their name, but don't let that scare you off. Sure they sell enough lights to turn an 87 Crown Vic into the Battleship Galactica. Sure they sell hoses you attach to your AC to shove down your shirt. But wait! There's more! For those of us who aren't cops, there is a whole lot to see. Guns - Barney's is a Block stocking dealer. Don't know what a Clock is? Move on please. I am not really into guns, but if I were, I would probably have bought like five from them. Flashlights - Call me a nerd, but I like flashlights. Flashlight technology has come such a long way in the last five years. I bought a small light that takes two lithium batteries and will literally light up half a block. It is awesome. Holsters - If you are a gun toting yahoo, or even one of those open carry nut jobs, they have a holster for you. Again, if I wasn't scared of guns, I would have bought like five or ten from them. Clothes - Want to look tacticool? They got your hook up. Pepper spray - Hey ladies? Yeah? You know you bad? Yeah. Oh wait. Sorry, I just started singing Travis Scott. Ladies, and men who wan't some pepper spray for your purse or European man bag? They've got you covered. Barney's has a lot more stuff than I have listed. If you're like me and not a cop, but like cool stuff, you should check Barney's out.

Barneys Police Supplies in Metairie is actually part of a small regional chain of stores in…read moreLouisiana and Mississippi. As the name implies, they cater to law enforcement officers (LEO's) ; however, any Joe Blow can walk in to browse. They carry all your typical LEO equipment such as boots, flashlights, clothes, holsters, ammunition and of course, firearms. You can shop for Sig Sauers, Berettas, Rugers, Kimbers and Walthers. But Barneys is known for selling Glocks and they sell more Glocks than anything else. In fact, their website states that "Barney's Police Supplies is one of the top 10 Glock dealers in Law Enforcement in the US". And in my opinion, no one is going to beat their prices on Glocks. This location is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 5:00, but don't let the lack of weekend hours dissuade you from coming here. Because what you get at Barney's is personalized service that is rare for a regional chain of stores. On top of that, you get professional assistance from people that know their craft. And their demeanor is very down to Earth and puts you at ease, especially if you are a layman and not in the LEO community. My initial contact with Barneys was made telephonically with Katie, who was patient, informative and professional. However, she had that certain charm and friendliness that drew me to the store, as I could immediately tell that this place was totally customer oriented. Upon my arrival at the store both she and store manager Melody Kennedy assisted me, and I could not have left a happier customer. I could have gone anywhere to make my purchase, and I did do some shopping around beforehand. However, I purposely saved Barneys for last as I heard that they were the best. Now that this "fact" has been confirmed, I'll never shop anywhere else.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I went to the store to buy tights and jazz shoes for my daughter. When I walked in, I told the sales associate I was there to purchase both. She showed me the available shoe options. I mentioned I was looking for flesh-toned shoes and wasn't sure the colors they had would work. I then picked out a pair of tights and, after that, went back to the shoes and asked to try some on my daughter. The associate then asked if I was "just trying on or purchasing." Stunned, I replied, "trying on to see if I want to purchase." She then said there would be a $15 try-on fee for the jazz shoes, which would go toward the purchase if I decided to buy. I asked for clarification: "So, if I try the shoes on and don't like them, I have to pay $15?" She said she might not be explaining it correctly and called over the manager or owner. Instead of clarifying the policy like the associate asked her to, the owner repeatedly said she was "confused" about whether I was buying or trying on, referring back to my earlier comment about wanting a flesh tone. I explained that I wanted to try them on my daughter to decide if the available color worked, but she continued to say she was confused, without ever attempting to explain the try-on policy or addressing my question. At that point, I said, "Never mind, we're in the wrong place," and left with my children. I went there to make a purchase, as i have many times over the years, but the tone and attitude made me feel unwelcome and completely uncomfortable. We ended up purchasing the shoes and tights online for less money, but I went to this store specifically hoping to support a small business. Unfortunately, this experience made that impossible and I won't be returning. Lastly, if a try-on fee is the store's policy, it should be communicated clearly and professionally, especially when a customer has already expressed intent to buy.
