My sister and I both got aptitude testing through JOC in Houston 30 years ago. It confirmed my…read moresister's career choice for a medical career, and it helped me define my upcoming college major, which I sorely needed help with (I wanted to do everything!) Last year, my sister returned with her two high schoolers and me this year with mine. I will continue to use their services and recommend them highly! The sessions consist of non-traditional tests that evaluate your natural aptitudes. You also fill out a form at the end about career fields and hobbies that you like to do. The conclusion session is so enlightening. The researcher/tester explains all your aptitudes, your strengths and weaknesses, how those translate to career choices, college class choices and other education or job choices. They also tie in your likes with your natural aptitudes and show how the two can work together. This natural aptitude testing is so amazing to help understand yourself and how and why you do things a certain way. It can help a rising college student avoid changing majors often as his/her "likes" change, and can help any person understand their bent and help direct their job/career/hobby choices! A great investment that helps avoid costly choices (like changing majors) in the future.

I got the pan daiquiri as my drink to start and my friend got the herbed lavender lemonade. For food we shared the hamachi crudo, the chutoro nigri, the kanpachi nigiri, the A5 tartare, the kani handroll, The kinoko yasaimono, and the hot scallop dish to share. The pan daiquiri was SO good. The smokiness from the mezcal hits you first and then the sweet and creamy after taste takes over. It was so well mixed and I would highly recommend trying this if you are a mezcal lover like me. (9/10) The herbed lavender lemonade was too tangy and sweet for my liking. The lavender flavor get lost in the drink. It tasted like a typical lemonade, nothing special. (5/10) The hamachi crudo was so fresh and I really enjoyed the sweet and tangy broth. I'm not sure I would call it tom kha broth but it tasted good regardless and paired well with the tomatoes. (7.5/10) The chutoro nigiri was SO buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. I would definitely get this again. (8.8/10) The kanpachi nigiri was fresh and I enjoyed the sauce paired with it. It was my first time trying amberjack and I liked it. (7/10) The A5 tartare was super unique and well seasoned. There was plenty of tartare compared to the amount of milk bread you are given to eat it with. The uni, caviar, pate and waygu all mixed together was a decadent combination full of flavor. My only note was the contrast in temperatures that I did not love, the tartare came cold while the milk bread was warm. Overall, a very luxurious and tasty dish. (8/10) The kani handroll surpassed my expectations. Typically I don't go for crab first, but I did enjoy the flavors paired with the crab and the hand roll was well filled. (7.8/10) The kinoko roll (king trumpet mushroom roll) really surprised me. I was weary about getting this roll because I normally don't opt for vegan options, but this king mushroom was so well prepared and the sauce was so delicious that dare I say that I enjoyed this more than some of the fish/meat sushi rolls I've had in the past. (8/10) The hot scallop dish was one of the best bites of the night. The scallop was perfectly charred and cooked and the creamy polenta base with the umami salmon roe, with the fried red cabbage to add texture was amazing. I would definitely order this again. (9/10) Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Aiko and the food surpassed my expectations. I loved everything I tried and do want to come back to try more. The service was quick and helpful with the menu. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are some free street parking spots around the plaza. The ambiance is definitely upscale and classy. It's a great place for a date! My only complaint was that I made a reservation for 2 at least a week in advance and upon arrival, though they had plenty of open tables, we were seated at the opposite end of a table that was already occupied. We were close enough to hear their entire conversation throughout dinner, and I just thought it was an odd experience because that had never happened to me before. Though it did not hinder me from enjoying the food I would have preferred to be seated at our own table.

I thought Aiko delivered a really memorable meal. Overall I'm giving this place 5 stars -- the…read morequality of the fish and the execution were excellent -- though personally I did find the progression of courses a little rich toward the end. For context, Aiko is part of the same group as Doko (their sushi omakase concept) and Handies Douzo (their handroll-focused restaurant), and you can definitely see the overlap in technique and flavor profiles across the restaurants. We went for the Valentine's omakase menu. The meal started with the Oyster Duo. One had a yuzu granita and aguachile that was bright and refreshing, while the other had a roasted onion soubise with smoked trout roe that leaned richer and more savory. Nice contrast between the two. One of my favorite early dishes was the chilled zaru soba. The buckwheat noodles had a great chewy texture and the mentsuyu broth was light and refreshing with mirin, mushroom, and seaweed notes. It was a really nice palate reset. The smoked ocean trout sashimi (masu) was another standout. It had garlic aioli on top with oil and black pepper, and the tomato added a crunchy brightness that balanced the richness of the fish. It's a simple combination but worked surprisingly well. The temaki course was excellent. The snow crab handroll had this creamy mayo texture with chili and crunchy shallots, and you can tell they roast the seaweed sheets right before serving because the nori had an incredible crunch -- honestly some of the best texture I've had in a handroll. It reminded me a lot of the style they do at Handies. For the hirame crudo with pomegranate and shiso, the flavor was good but a bit more subtle. I think the pistachio really helps that dish; without enough of it the flavors felt a little muted. I know pomegranate and pistachio is a common flavor pairing for middle eastern cuisines. My partner has a tree nut allergy so they removed it for both of us. The wagyu fat rice was very indulgent. The first thing you taste is the wagyu fat, but the fried shallots and other crunchy elements help balance it out. The sauce reminded me a lot of something you'd get at Doko -- rich but very satisfying. Adding fried rice in between fish courses was an interesting choice from the chef, but I think Aiko aims to be more western fusion than a traditional Japanese omakase. The tuna trio was fantastic. The chutoro with negidare (garlic, sesame oil, scallion) was probably my favorite bite of the night -- super flavorful and perfectly balanced. The foie gras course leaned sweet and savory, almost like an eel sauce flavor with some crunch on top. Delicious, but by this point in the progression I was definitely feeling the richness of the meal. Dessert was a milk tea tiramisu that I thought was really interesting. The mascarpone layer had a tartness to it -- almost like there might be a little sour cream mixed in -- and one layer had a subtle salty note that balanced the sweetness. Overall, the food quality was excellent and the fish was clearly very fresh. My only minor critique is that the progression of courses skewed a bit rich for my personal preference, especially in the second half of the meal. That said, every dish was thoughtfully executed and there were some truly standout bites. If you enjoy creative omakase with some richer flavor profiles, Aiko is definitely worth trying.

The service is great and the servers are similar with the dishes. There's a parking garage where you can park and it does cost money. I think I saw valet too but i don't think it is complimentary. They change up the menu every once in a while or try new things out. They have daily special on the menu. They have plenty of drinks and even zero proof. Their Brussel sprouts is truly one of the best I've ever had. They were like marinated and drenched in sweet chili and lemon. I tried the a5 hot rock waygu and that was very tasty. Flavors and texture was there I could taste the quality. My favorite was the a5 Uni nigiri. This just melted in my mouth. I tried the waygyu tartare and the bread it came with made this dish it was buttery or milky soft and tossed. The actual meat was grinded up like you'd expect and it was okay just the bread really made this dish. I also loved the kanpachi crudo. It was just the right amount of sauce that leveled up the amberjack and the pineapple brighten the dish. I tried the flounder on the daily special menu and that was not it. This had to be the worse thing I tried. The cilantro broth was too heavy and the cilantro flavors were overpowering. The flounder even tasted dry. I received a free crab roll and this was tasty. Had the hamachi chili which the hamachi is always my favorite with the chilis and pineapple. The blue fin otoro was also one of my favorites. I just love the melt in your mouth textures. The salmon belly was okay. I tried the collar bone fish (Hama Kama) and that was fire. You're suppose to scoop out the fish. It's very easy to pick off the fish it was so soft and fall off the bone. The sauce it came with reminded me of nuoc mam but its sesame vinegar. It paired really well with the fish.

The server said they're expanding to NYC next year (2027) so that will be fun. Parking is available (paid) across the street at an underground covered garage - you can use tap payment at the kiosk while exiting; it's automatic via your license plate. I think $4.25 for an hour and a half. hama chili - 3 pieces of yellowtail sashimi. best dish I tried walu walu - strong fishy taste, very heavy sakana tempura - an extremely rich, fried, very very heavy taste. I couldn't stomach eating more than 2 of them although they do seem to be cooked to perfection it's an extremely fatty dish. salmon makimono - interesting addition of mint to the roll; wasn't a huge fan of the collection of flavors but good quality fish/ingredients.

I was excited this time because the service was outstanding, the meal came out promptly, and everything but the green beans tasted perfect. I asked the server if she could have them put seasoning on them and cook them longer. They literally tasted like they came straight from the vine. The second batch tasted the same. I brought it to the servers attention and said "don't worry I am taking them back again". I said "Just have the manager give you the difference, since I already paid for my meal which included the green beans." The manager tried to pull one over on me and said I was never charged for the green beans. I reminded her they were part of the sides included in the meal. She then backtracked and said she couldn't take them off. So I asked her to take off something else that was on my ticket that wasn't included in my meal, and give it to my server because she was outstanding. I hope Ashley my server received my generous tip and the price I paid for the added side. Shame on you manager for lying to me and saying I never was charged when you knew I was.

A very inviting restaurant. Large bar area inside and out. A plethora of TV's to watch from, and some booths even have their own TV. There is a very large seating area with an outdoor bar with lots of TVs too. Great view of the lake. The food was ok. The chips with the sampler were large although didn't have a good crisp too them. The calamari was slightly tough and the breading was a little heavy (too thick). The spicy sauce with the seafood (shrimp boil) wasn't spicy at all. The kids cheeseburger was a small slider. The steak was well cooked (medium rare request and it came out accordingly). We found the seafood flavors ok, not great. The service was not attentive enough. Needed to ask for utensils, appetizers came out same time as food. We were a large party of 9 however the food came out as it was ready so that would make more sense if it all came out. Lots of parking available although it does get busy so anticipate a walk. Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. When we got there, the concession line was really long. I didn't see the restaurant located to the right. I started ordering from just the few items in the concession menu, and I just happened to ask the girl about a burger and she said those were restaurant items, but I could order with her. We ordered wings, hot dogs, fries, and icees. It took the food about 20 minutes to come out plus the 10 minutes I spent in line. We missed 30 minutes of the movie. They need to get with the times and provide in seat ordering and , not only will they get more revenue, but people won't waste time ordering and waiting for food.
