Lakewood Montessori School - We are one big family at LMS!

My two kids attended LMS from one and a half years through kinder garden…read more The school is amazing, not only the curriculum is rich (music, Spanish lesson, advanced Math and reading programs), but the staff is loving and caring. My old boy has earned straight A's while in the GT program in public school. My little one will have his kinder garden ceremony the middle of this month and he is already two grade levels ahead per IOWA testing. We are glad and grateful that we made a right decision to send kids to LMS although the place is not very close to where we live. I would highly recommend this preschool to parents, you won't regret it. Due to school's good reputation, they usually have waiting list, act quickly if you want to enroll your kids.

I had a wonderful experience in the 2 year old class. The teacher was great, my son had friends,…read moreeverything was good. He moved to the next room after he turned three and it quickly went downhill. He spent numerous days in "the office" without any notification for me until I got there to pick him up. I would have appreciated some sort of communication that he had been spending hours in the office, which was a glass room with a dining room table. My son had just turned three, one day I came to pick him up and the "owner "said he refused to put his shoes on and told him he couldn't go back to his class until he put them on by himself. He's three, and it was literally the first day he had ever worn shoes with laces. He had no idea how to untie them, they were in double knots. Another day I went to pick him up and he had been in the office three or four times that day for random things, and the "owner " told me he was harassing other students. I was never called nor notified of this behavior. Just walked in to my 3 year old son in "The office" for idk how long. One day I went to pick him up, and they told me he wasn't welcome back. Again never called or notified until I walked in the door. The "owner " also complained in a letter to all parents that children shouldn't be getting out of their cars after eating food on the way to school, that they could make it from the house to school without eating. And that many of the parents cars look like bombs went off inside them. I don't know how this man is over a school, but it was a terrible experience. This may not be the experience of everyone however it was my experience and I would not recommend this school.

Unfortunately, my experience with the program director, Shelby, was extremely disappointing. It took her two weeks to call me back after my initial inquiry (she was on vacation), which might have been fine if it hadn't been followed by repeated lapses in communication. She promised to call me back and didn't, and when she canceled my son's first official session just two hours before, she only sent a text and email. She never confirmed I'd seen the message, and by the time I arrived with my kids, it was too late. My son, who struggles with sudden changes, had a meltdown. Backup staff could have easily prevented this. After my friend spoke to a manager, the owner called me the next day and promised Shelby would contact me to reschedule. That call never happened--this was even before we hosted my son's birthday party at K2. To be clear: Bailey, who led our trial session, was amazing. She took time to work with my son at his pace and made him feel comfortable. The birthday party staff were also friendly and helpful, even with a small hiccup of my son's name being spelled wrong on the cake. Bottom line: I'd recommend K2 for parties, but I would not recommend the SOAR Adaptive program. The lack of communication and follow-through from Shelby made it clear to me that this program is not managed in a way that meets the needs of autistic children and their families.

These gals were wonderful. I would recommend this place very highly.

"I put my daughter in Ms. Laura's class when she turned 4. My husband and I felt she wasn't getting…read morethe right education and care at her old school. I heard about this school through a friend at work who sends her older son to Ms. Laura's class also. I was very impressed with the educational curriculum here at this school. I get weekly updates in her personal folder with her school work and homework. They also using the kindergarten level books for the older kids in the class. I could see a big difference in my child's ability to spell and read; her math skill also improved. The curriculum is excellent here and each child gets individualized care at the same time. The teachers here are great at building students' self esteem and introducing manners in a loving environment. Ms. Laura treats each child and parent with utmost respect. In addition, she is very flexible with each child's individual needs. I bring bottle water and organic milk for my daughter each day and Ms. Laura would make sure she finishes her milk and water. I'm also very impressed with the natural environment around the school. It's surrounded by farm houses and nature reserves. I love the fact that she's playing in the shade with lots of fresh air and she has the chance to see some farm animals from time to time. Ms. Laura also has started a organic garden for the children behind the school and often cooks lunches with fresh vegetables for the to learn about gardening .My daughter loves Ms. Laura and I'm planning to send my second child here also. I know she will miss her teacher and friends here a lot when she starts Kindergarten this fall. If you are looking for a positive, educational, nurturing and loving environment for your child, this is definitely the place for you. Parents of Jennifer

I could honestly write a very lengthy review of how wonderful this place is and go into detail…read moreabout how great each individual staff member is by name, but I'd end up with a review so long no one would read it. All of the staff are unbelievably great people. Regardless of whether they are the child's main teacher(s), filling in from another classroom, a floating teacher, or an administrative role, they all take the time to get to know your child. Not even just know them but truly care about them. I cannot even count the number of times I've logged on to the cameras to find that a teacher is hugging my son, or making him laugh or just comforting him. They 100% treat these kids as if they are their own children and it's the most heartwarming thing to witness how much they love them. I'm not typically the sappiest person but it does make me a little sappy thinking about it. Cameras are accessible at any time throughout the day and as a parent it's so comforting seeing that your child is being cared for and so fun to see them interacting and playing with their peers. The staff goes out of their way to host seasonal family events and are always doing fun arts and crafts with the little ones as well as doing cute themed events for holidays and such. Diapers are changed very often, fragrance free wipes are provided, lunch and snacks are provided, and they have great hours as well as part time rates available. If an issue occurs they do their best to correct it. My son attended a popular franchised daycare prior, and while they did stay on top of basic care, there was no personal relationship there between the staff and children. At C2C you will really feel like you are dropping your child off with family members. It's not perfect of course but I believe it's as close to perfect as childcare can get. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for quality care for their children.

I have contemplated on writing this review but after much thought and affirmations from friends and…read morefamily, a review is a must. My son who just turned 1 was moved to C2C a 2 weeks' ago. I was nervous, excited and cautious all at once; my son was in a previous daycare for 8 months before I decided to move him. During his time at the first daycare, my son did not cry not once, other than when tired or hungry. I was switching for the structure and curriculum as well as convenience. I decided on C2C for several reasons. C2C is around the corner from my oldest school and made it convenient for me to eventually move my oldest to the before & after school care. My husband would be able to help me with pick/drop off on days I am needed to work longer than expected and I wanted my 1 y/o to be surrounded by others his age and I wanted him to experience more for his developmental stage. I expected for my son to feel out of place and act shy around everyone at first but this was not the case. My son cried almost every day, rarely ate and looked distraught. I was curious to see how they would put him down to nap as he was never used to sleeping on a matt so I logged on and watched. The main teacher, Ms. Yesenia essentially flipped and slammed my child onto the matt and covered him, she did the same to other kids. And this happened EVERY SINGLE DAY he was there! I then begin to record and watch the camera to see how my child was being treated. One day during nap time, most of the babies were awake expect for 3, my son was one of the 3. She begins to pick up all the matts and when she got to my son's matt she picked up the matt from underneath him and rolled him off the matt without hesitating. My son rolled onto a sitting position and looked confused! This was NOT OKAY with me!! I decided to call Sally and express my concerns to her, I did not feel this sort of behavior was acceptable. Sally assured me that she would talk with Ms. Yesenia and review the footage. She communicated with Ms. Yesenia and the next day as I dropped my child off Ms. Yesenia gave me the cold shoulder and when I attempted to tell her about my son's meals, she would not even look at me, her energy was negative towards me. At this point, I decided to give her one more day, but the next day it was the same. At this point I brought it up to Sally and explained that this was not okay as my son is my priority and if I have a concern, Ms. Yesenia should not retaliate. My son was at this daycare for 8 solid days. During this time, my child lost weight. He was not given the attention during meal times like I asked of them and by the time I was picking him up he would have about 3-5oz of milk total. I began to feel very anxious every day, he would cry when I would drop him off and I was not getting a comfortable feeling from Ms. Yesenia. Both instances that I voiced my concerns to Sally, she relayed the message to Ms. Yesenia however, her behavior was being justified because she would not admit to the wrong doing and she "is" the best employee she's had. In return she took my concerns in a negative way and I felt she took them out on my son. My son was inadvertently telling me he was not happy at C2C. My son is a happy child; he cries for TWO reasons: hunger or tired. So, I pulled him out on Tuesday started him at another daycare on Wednesday and it was night and day. My son did not CRY AT ALL. My son ate ALL his foods, had 10oz of milk along with 6oz of water without refusing them. I watched the cameras all day Wednesday and not once did I see my son cry - so I made the right move! If your child is attending or will be attending the toddler program, beware of Ms. Yesenia. I feel that if she would have not been the teacher for my 1 y/o, we would still be at C2C. Being a parent is the hardest job on this planet but, if my child is showing me signs that he is not happy, I will act and defend my baby!

I began to see how isolating the school was and then proceeded witnessing an incident in real time via camera in which consistent bullying, isolating and lifting a child by the arm from the floor occurred all within the first 20min of the child entering the classroom. Immediately, I removed my child from the class. There was no accountability from the directors, who blindly believed the teacher without offering to review camera footage. I had to go above them to the district manager, even while we all watched the footage together the directors did not own their mistake which was clearly on tape! I will say the district manager apologized profusely, and was shocked at the behavior on tape and by the directors. So disheartening when you've invested YEARS and thousands of dollars in a school to just know in the end that does not matter even when faced with proof and facts you are nothing but a number and easily replaced.

The teachers even ignored us, the parents, and refused to discuss our child without a formal appointment. This was an extremely cold. negative enviroment. The philosophy of the school seems to be to leave the kids alone to teach themselves and if they do not flourish then that is the kid`s problem. The teachers and administration are arrogant adn unhelful. WHAT A HORRIBLE PLACE. miss Janet (Maple room)constantly manipulates the children, yells at them and treats them badly. and it seems that this is seen as very normal by the director miss Marta who does nothing to fully investigate what happened. Very dissapointed!

From the second you walk in you are greeted like family by Ms. Mimi, Ms. Justice and Ms. Allyssa. Every teacher knows my son's name and he loves them all, especially Ms. Irene who comes running to give him a hug everyday. My son was potty trained in no time at all with very few accidents which makes me feel comfortable that he is constantly monitored and cared for. He's speech is amazing, he can count in two languages, and is already reading and writing! When we pick him up from school he can't wait to tell us about all the fun he had with his friends and his teachers. They also have monthly events which are so much fun, like box car parades, Valentines Day parties, Easter egg hunts to name a few, which are a great opportunity to meet some of the other parents and share stories. From personal experience we as parents have always been treated like family, and the director, Ms. Allyssa, is always happy to go above and beyond to help us. The communication from the school is great, and I love getting the picture updates during the day. We normally get between 8 -12 photos and videos a day. We enrolled our son after a TERRIBLE experience at Primrose of Champions where we discovered that he wasn't being feed, and watched a teacher shove our then 13 month old to the ground. I shared the story with Ms. Allyssa and her fantastic team and they were so great about it. I sat in the reception for the first few days that he was enrolled and watched the camera in his classroom. I saw nothing but kindness and love showered on my baby, and that made my mommy heart so happy. If you want your kids to get a great education backed by love and support then this is a great option. We have chosen not to move to a new house because we refuse to take our son out of Prescolaire. Thank you Ms. Allyssa and staff for loving my boy as much as we do.
