This place is awesome and something that Palestine really needed. The Brick Fired Oven pizza is unbelievable and very diverse!!! My favorite is the Oink with a variety of meats. They also have the best Roast Beef sandwich I have ever had. To top it all off they have six Craft Beers on tap ranging from local Texas favorites to regional brands like Brooklyn Lager and Dogfish 60!!! What a breath of fresh air! Visiting my parents in Palestine is always a treat, but the food scene needed a little help (to say the least). Enter Carmen and Regina, the owners of Switch. They have really done a number on me! Gracious service, excellent food and a very thoughtful beer, wine and liquor list rockets this place into the stratosphere of very good restaurants. These folks can compete with some of my favorite spots in Dallas....oh to have a Switch in Lakewood. I am a restaurateur as well and so I know first hand what dedication it takes to execute such a well-run place. Fun environment, great food, excellent drinks. But they are often times out of ingredients or "the special" although it remains posted. They also seem to have a rule that you can only order one alcoholic drink at a time. No big deal. Wish they had more of a selection though. read more

Being new to the Grapeland area from Houston, we have been missing our nice restaurants and craft beer. Switch delivered both! Who needs a huge wall o beer options?! They have a solid selection of 6 craft beers on tap. We started with the unbelievable caprese salad. Then hubby had the pork chop, and I had The Oink. We tried both, and both were delish! The food was great. I loved the fresh ingredients. It did not have that typical "frozen pizza" taste you get from the big chains. I felt compelled to write a review of Switch as, unlike others, I acted like an adult and actually ate a meal there before giving an opinion. I took a client to Switch for dinner. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. I will say that it was a Tuesday night so I'm sure the crowd was thinner. I found the wait staff to be very warm, friendly and helpful. Switch has an extensive wine list along with a full bar. For dinner we chose a couple of brick oven pizza selections including the Oink, a traditional type pizza of various meats and the Switch, a delicious selection consisting of roasted pears and walnuts, arugula and mozzarella. Both pizzas far exceeded expectations. With pizza, I find many places skimp on the quality of their ingredients. It is obvious that Switch does not. A fact that was confirmed when the owner came out and visited with us for a few minutes. He explained that many of his ingredients, including the flour, are imported from Italy. He went on to tell us that in the next couple of weeks they will adding many more items to their menu. All in all, I can truly say that I fully enjoyed my dining experience from start to finish and would highly recommend Switch to others. read more

To call Switch a restaurant is to understate what they do! Switch is an EXPERIENCE! The food and atmosphere is wonderful. The wait staff is extraordinary. You can meet the owners who are friendly and have it together. Then go out on the newly renovated covered for all weather deck and enjoy a bourbon from the bar. Don't think of this as a pizzeria. It is a restaurant and wine bar that has the experience a big city. And whatever you do, don't pass up the ribeye steak. Have the house cab and enjoy every bite. I go there often and as someone who has had the best food in the best places in the world I would put Switch up there with all of them. read more

Traveling sales person passing through Palestine decided to call it quits on the road and stay in Palestine vs continuing onto Tyler - The hotel receptionist mentioned Switch, and wow am I glad she did. The atmosphere is unique and a breath of fresh air from Anytown, USA joints. The service was great and I actually met the owner and enjoyed his unexpected path that led to Switch. The beer selection was great. It so hard to find good microbrews and regional beers in smaller Texas towns. The food was incredible, the meat balls and mozzarella are out of this world. I travel throughout the country, and it's always awesome to run into a great find like this. But I have to admit, this is the first time I was so thoroughly pleased that I signed up on Yelp to give it a review. This business opened four months ago and was long overdue in the area. The chef/owner delivers the very best pizza and Italian food on the planet. He will not use any type of seasoning out of a jar...fresh grown herbs are used in a magical way. The chef hails from Philadelphia, PA and brings his breads from a famous bakery there. His flour for the pizza dough is imported from Italy. The extra effort is worth it as he really knows how to put the ingredients together. Did I mention he is a Philadelphia native? H brought the Philly Cheese sandwich with him and it is one of the best ever. The chef and his hostess wife have a wonderful wine selection, wonderful staff and the décor is first rate. My wife and I will be loyal customers for as long as the business continues to provide the quality we experienced. read more

Was in on a Friday night,the place was not busy but the service was wonderful. I had the house salad which was awesome and flavorful and the serving was large for a starter. I am so happy and excited about Switch! Switch's specialty is wood fire oven pizzas. We ordered the Asian Chicken Salad for starters and it is delicious ! We then ordered a Shrimp, an Oink & the Switch pizzas for our table of 5. My favorites are the Shrimp & the yummola, "Switch" with walnuts, pear, arugula and mozzarella.....gooood Lord, it's sooo good! Then, we ended our meal by splitting a slice of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake! Switch is a hit ! Our waiter, Matt, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Switch is located at the top of a very steep hill , which was once the home of a church. The interior is lovely. The wine room that seats around 12 people. It's beautifully decorated & cozy. There's also outdoor seating, which is very nice. Switch has lots of character. The menu is small but, the selection is interesting and well thought out. Switch offers a pork chop and meatloaf that looked pretty delicious, as the folks at the table behind us were mmmming & awwwwing over their selections. This place is amazing. The food is terrific and so good. Love the pizza with the mushrooms and the portabella pasta. The meatballs are amazing. Nothing tastes fake or frozen. The decor is modern and artistic and the waitstaff friendly and always there to get you a refill or dessert. The desserts well who doesn't like the cheesecake factor. We had a party of ten for dinner before riding The Polar Express. We were looking forward to all having a good meal together with the kids. The food was fantastic, but we made a reservation a week before and when we arrived they put us at two different tables. Well a booth and then a table. Considering we were visiting family from out of town and had three kids under 6 putting us at two different tables didn't really make sense. If we make a reservation I would hope that means we can all sit at the same table. After sitting around waiting for someone to put us at one table so we could all be together we were finally seated together. They had to wait for another party to leave before we could be moved. Our server whispered the entire time and we pretty much just had to guess what she was asking. It was pretty terrible. Maybe she's a relative of the owner, but serving should definitely not be her job as she was terrible. The food is what kept this review from being lower. It was fantastic! read more

We reserved the Wine Room to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. It was a nice room that seated about 12 people. I called a few weeks ahead to reserve the room with Regina, the owner. I told her that we were celebrating a birthday and asked her for suggestions. She offered to have a wine tasting, appetizers, dinner and dessert. Everything was excellent. Regina met us at the door and took us to the wine room. Everything was set up for us and we received wonderful service from Regina and the server. The wine was great, the pizza was great and the Italian Cream cake was awesome! The restaurant, it self, was very pretty and we will definitely be back to eat at this wonderful place when we come to Palestine again. read more
