Saw this place while on Yelp so I decided to give it a try....I'm a very big fan of Tex Mex so upon going there parking wasn't a problem really found a spot very quickly...walked in and was not greeted right away but I nice gentleman saw that I was just standing there and since the girl (who actually was at the register) looked like she wanted all the smoke today didn't pay attention..the young man greeted me and walked me to a seat...go again this must be a favorite spot on Sundays cause it was packed but not packed traditional tex mex...very colorful had the big screen tv on the football game which was good....sat there and waited for a good five minutes before my waitress came and greeted herself...her name is Kalani and she was super sweet and attentive...since the drinks was not listed on the menu...I asked what drinks they have and she told me...so I putting my order for the drink and appetizer...not even three minutes past and had my chips and salsa and my drink..chips was fresh and warm and the salsa was good ...okay I'm liking her already...she was not playing today...came back within 15 with my chili con queso and asked was I ready to order...I ordered the Carne Asada..when I tell you the food came out hot and fresh...I can see the smoke...lol...the food was good no issues with the food didn't go to the restroom place was very clean and I guess the owner or manager was there walking around looking...overall I had a good experience...would definitely go back...I would say that they just need to work on their customer service and reiterate how important it is for the business read more

Small restaurant with delicious food. Large menu with options for everyone. We had nachos and a huge chicken quesadilla. Yummy!

We have eaten there for many years even when it was at the other location but in recent years they have continuously gotten more stingy with servings and continue to raise their prices (i don't care about inflation, when the owner drives a beat up old car and lives in the street they can say they are struggling). They have even started charging for chips and salsa now, this was the last straw and they have lost a customer for life, unfortunately i can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

We decided to try this place for a change of pace, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was fairly full so we got seated and the service was great. She was there quickly and checked on us regularly. I ordered a small guacamole and my husband ordered some kind of Queso for appetizers. The guacamole was completely unseasoned and bland. Honestly, what they called guacamole was just mashed avocados. The melted velveeta cheese and ground meat was unseasoned and bland. Nonetheless we charged on. I ordered 2 beef enchiladas with Chile Con carne sauce, 3 grilled shrimp on the side. Yep, you guessed it, no seasoning as well as the sauce still had that metal taste of canned goods. The refried beans were fresh out of a can as well, and cold. Husband had beef fajita's with charro beans. Yep, canned, cold and unseasoned. All in all not a good experience and we won't be going back. If they start with what appears to be a great staff and correct the food issues, they would be much better. Using yelp we found this restaurant. The restaurant has own private parking. Sunday lunch the place is packed and busy but the staffs were nice and friendly. Upon sitting we were immediately served with chips and salsa. Our order came quick even the restaurant is busy.. impressive. My aunt ordered street tacos and tortilla soup she said it was delicious. My friend ordered beef enchilada it was delicious as well, the enchilada size is just right. I ordered the tamales with green sauce ... it was so good i loved that green sauce. All and all we were satisfied with the food glad we decided to eat here. read more

Another great day spent with my son and his wife in Palestine going through their storage locker, and right out side I spied Mario's Mexican Grill so we decided to give it a try, we weren't disappointed. We had a great waitress, and their food was delicious. As usual we started out with a queso, along with chips and salsa. My son and his wife both had enchilada dinners with beans and rice and I had a Camaro'n Diablo dinner, grilled spicy shrimp on a bed of rice with steamed vegetables, pico and guacamole, this was great and very tasty. I decided to go a little farther since my son was driving and had a Mangonada Margarita, beautiful to look at, and a great flavor, that along would bring me back, so till next time. We were in Palestine for the Texas State Railroad express and attended church on The same evening. Some friendly church folks suggested to my wife to follow them to Mario's so trusting church going locals so we went. The outside is rather divey (that's a good sign) and inside also so we were hopeful. Noticed right off the bat, squeeze bottles of Parkay Margarine on each table (big negative). This is indicative of what I consider not so good Tex-Mex but we're here so i guess we go for it? Rather large menu so we chose the beef fajitas para dos. Disappointing (the church folks zero but the Parkay one!) Smallish portion of beef although okay flavor and tender. The accoutrements (cheese, sour cream, pico d'gallo, guacamole) were tiny at about two tablespoons each. Charro beans were bland and rice flavorless. Flour tortillas were grocery store quality. We finally had to order some queso to pour on the beef to add some flavor and substance as the guac and pico ran out and this was minimal as it also was really bland.. basically just Velvita with some cream or milk.. if they added seasoning it was too minimal to notice. All in all, meh and expensive with two watered down iced teas and a tip it was $60. The two stars is for lack of value. read more

The food is 5-stars. It's authentic Mexican food that tastes home made. The atmosphere is typical "rural small town Texas." T-shirts, overalls, boots, jeans, nothing fancy at all. But if you wear a collared shirt, you're "over dressed" . The outside looks very old and plain. The inside is also very old, with seating like from the late 60's to early 70's. Like a road diner out in the sticks. But again, you go there for the food and the nice service. It's a hidden gem and we could tell it appears to,be a local's hang out. The table service is great too and they do have a have a full bar. Although I don't believe they have a bartender full time, so our waitress took our orders and then made our drinks. They have some beers on tap (Dos XX's, Corona, and I think Bud or Coors light if I remember correctly, but don't quote me on that). They had happy hour until 6pm while we were there, with beers on tap for around $2.00 if I recall correctly. We will definitely return next time we are in the area! We stopped in for a quick lunch had never been here before. It was during the week so I was glad to see they had weekly specials which were priced just right. Along with lunch specials. We got queso to share a grande size and this was really grande I was surprised, The queso had good flavor to it the chips were nice and crisp. I got the two cheese enchiladas with queso rice and beans which was their Wednesday special. He got cocktail de Camarones which was just a regular menu item. Everything we had tasted really good. Best Mexican food we've had since moving to Texas! Authentic Mexican not that 'Tex Mex' stuff. Friendly service and bartender. Street tacos, tamales and fajitas were all excellent!! Queso appetizer was good. We liked the salsa but the verde salsa was a little hotter and very good!! Margaritas hit the spot!! So glad we stopped by! I've been a few times and it's always been great. This last time, however, was different. The margarita's have shrunk, in an almost child size glass. The salsa is served in small plastic cups and you have to ask for a larger bowl so you can actually get a chip into it. The staff remain some of the nicest though and overall I would go back, but it won't be a frequent stop for me. read more

Found this place on Yelp and it was packed at 4pm on a Sunday. Everything was excellent authentic and big portions. If you like a spicier salsa ask for it and they will bring you a spicy, smokey delicious thicker one. My boyfriend and I split fajitas for one and it was plenty for both of us. I judge all Mexican spots by their refried beans and these were the best I have had since living in California!!! Skip Little Mexico and go here!! read more

Tried this place today. It is legit. Got the last parking space in the lot but there were tables available. Service was attentive and suggestions were helpful. My wife got a street taco. It came with 2 tortillas and enough fixing for 2 tacos. I ordered the quesadillas and they were the real deal. Move over guys Mario's will soon be the #1 Mexican restaurant in town. read more
