We made a reservation for 7:30, arrived at 7:20. Parking was extremely limited- which we took as a good sign as we had to wait for someone to leave to get a spot walked in right at 7:30, they seemed under staffed & overly busy. Waited nearly 10 minutes for a young lady to approach us at the hostess stand. Glad we had a reservation though cuz the folks that had been waiting were still waiting another 15 minutes or so to get a table. We were sat right next to where the food came out which was fine but when making the reservation the gentleman stated he would have a nice table for us (patio). It was rather dark inside but our table was more lit being near the food run. The waitress Tammy was attentive. We were not served the bread w/oil & vinegar that our friends raved about but probably because we order the mozzarella flat bread for app. Hubs got the wild mushroom pasta with blackened chicken & I ordered the arugula spinach salad with berries & pecans & added blackened chicken. Went there for sons birthday, were there an extremely long due to meeting wife and friend were in ran extremely long and delayed them . Staff was extremely patient as we were next to last customers to leave. All the food was extremely good, only negative comment was chicken dish was too garlicky. The service last time was a little shaky due to the new system they are using and the amount of customers but all in all it was a great experience as always . There a very few places that I leave a review when it's just that good but this is the place. I just moved here from Austin which has some of the best food ever. I've tried a few places here that are good but this place is amazing. Not a single dish we tried was just okay. They were all 10/10. The drinks? 10/10. The pizza? 10/10. Pasta? 10/10. Extremely busy, Holy Thursday. Waited 45 minutes for a pizza. Arrived cold! Then we were told it would be remade, but instead it was just reheated. Came out in about 3 minutes. It was not worth the wait. We were told they had two big parties, maybe they need more wait staff. They could have given us a free dessert or salad while we waited. We had to ask for refills each time. The water tasted like mold. Maybe they need to clean the dispensing hoses. First time in Palestine, not coming back to this place. read more

We ate at Switch Brick-Oven for the first time tonight, celebrating my birthday. The outside of the building is beautiful, and the inside is a great rustic atmosphere. Our server, Trey, was wonderful! He gave us great recommendations and excellent service! Very nice and friendly guy. The food was very good. My husband had a pizza, and while he seldom likes pizza crust, he was blown away with how tasty their pizza crust is. The sauce and toppings were delicious! My steak was cooked exactly as I like and seasoned very well. The sides did not disappoint either. I had the Brussel Sprouts and a fancy potato dish (can't remember what it is called). It's worth the drive to the top of the hill to eat at Switch! The building that's a former church is definitely a very unique setting for wonderful Italian food and pizza. My friends and I tried several dishes and they were all very good. Portions were big, too. Service was great even late in the evening, and our glasses were kept full. In town for one night, the hotel and Yelp directed us to Switch, and were so glad we took the recommendations. The restaurant is off the beaten path located in a prior church, so you will only find it if you are committed. That said, they have repurposed the space well to make a comfortable environment. What was most impressive was the pizza. So good, so tasty. We requested a few substitutions to their supreme, and they were happily made. The result was the very best pizza we've had. We were so pleased we ordered another to take home. Thin crust, fresh ingredients, delicious sauce, great service, pleasant atmosphere, what's not to love? So surprised at the lightning fast service here! Driving through Palestine, we almost didn't stop because it was so crowded we thought it would delay our trip. However, we were immediately seated, ordered and had finished our meal within 35 minutes! Awesome service, neat atmosphere, and food was good. We had Margherita pizza with a side salad. Walked in to find a packed house but attentive and quick servers. Everyone was working fast and hard getting drinks, taking orders, making food and running like clockwork. We ordered the Chips Appetizer and Meatball Appetizer. Holy smokes that meatball appetizer was a game changer. Tender, delish, fresh mozzarella and bread that ratatouille dreams about. I ordered the Creole Cajun pasta. Perfect amount of spice and sauce. Chicken was tender and flavorful! My entire table tried a bite and almost every single one of them slapped their mother's it was so good. Hubby and kiddos devoured pizza and not a crumb was left to share. Wow. Wife and I finally got out of the house for a overnight trip in Palestine. We did a search the week prior and decided to make a RSVP at Switch for today at 4:30pm. Impressive from the outside, restaurant is surrounded by a grove of trees and reportedly was a church at one time. Walked through the sliding doors and greeted immediately. Seated within minutes and our waiter, Ismael, immediately approach the table. He made some suggestions and took our drink and appetizer orders. Appetizers arrived within a short period of time and were fantastic. Chips, Seared Tuna and blistered peppers. Then we ordered some Moscato and shrimp scampi and the "Oink" pizza. Very nicely presented and quite tasty. We really enjoyed dinner and if we lived in the immediate area I could see us being regulars. But we will be back. And you should try it. It's not huge so definitely make reservations if you can! We made reservations by calling that morning- they don't open until 4:30 but someone answered. It was hopping when we went on a Tuesday night! We tried 3 appetizers- the shishitos, the fried artichokes and the truffle fries. We enjoyed all of them- shishitos and fried artichokes are seriously some of my favorite appetizers in general so I was super excited to see those on the menu! Shishitos needed some salt in my opinion. The sauce for the artichokes was good but needed a little tweaking- maybe some more seasoning or something- more acid in it or something. We tried the switch pizza which was great- it really is the perfect crust- it tastes like big city pizza, not a little town like Palestine because it really is great!! Success! Takeout from Switch was amazing. We stayed in Palestine overnight while visiting a couple of State Parks. We really wanted to support the local restaurants and reached out to Switch after seeing great reviews here. The pictures do not do this restaurant and food justice. The pizza was mouthwatering and the mozzarella superb. Both of our pizza's were delicious and the bread was moist with just the right amount of garlic. The service was fantastic and on time. They are much more than just pizza and pasta. The establishment was fantastic and the food was delicious. Everything was prepared with an eye for presentation and tasted absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and recommendations were spot on. You knew they enjoy the food there too. I had the spaghetti and meatball and it was no ordinary spaghetti as it was in two different sauces and the meatballs were light and flavorful. It wasn't heavy at all. Amazing mixture of different meats in the meatball. My salad was equally as tasty with the right balance of vinegar and oil. To close it out with a slice of chocolate mousse cake was equally decadent. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. You'd think you stepped into a michelin star's restaurants. This place is a total hidden gem. My wife really enjoyed her pizza but my pasta was little bland. For creole food, I expected a little heat but that's all I got: heat and little flavor. A little salt and pepper remedied that. I give up on food in Palestine. I know Palestine isn't exactly a foodie heaven but still. This was the higher rated restaurant so I figured it can't possibly be that bad? Boooooy was I wrong. I dropped almost $50. Got some stuffed pork which was absolutely dry and disgusting. Tasted like something I'd imagine prison camp food to taste like. Also got some shrimp dish, meatballs, and tiramisu. Seriously it was all trash. No flavour and just dry. My favorite thing here was the bread and mozzarella cheese. I should have gotten subway. She then proceeded to argue with us, claiming that there is no website, only a Facebook page, and that all of the information is up there ... we just missed it. I pointed out she was wrong. Sausage was delicious with fennel seed and pizza was cooked perfectly. Can't wait to come back Only drawback was confusion on hours. Their website is under construction- Yelp listed them as opening at 12 which is when we showed up ( drove 1 1/2 hours to get there ). A great find in an unusual building, I wouldn't have expected Neapolitan pizza of this quality in a small town like this. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. The dough is just the right amount of chewy and has a great char from their wood fired oven. The sauce was let the San marzano tomatoes shine through without being bland. The toppings were plentiful and nicely balanced. Overall this was a great experience and you should definitely try this place if you love this type of pizza and are in the area. read more
