I used to work in a swim shop during college. This place brings back some memories. They are LOADED to the gills with suits so if you need something to train or race in, be it lap swimming or open water, this should be your one-stop-shop for all things aquatic. They also carry Swedish googles, which are hard to find so that's another +1 in my book. read more

Been shopping here for a while... good to be back...Excellent selection of swimwear. I have two competitive swimmers FINALLY back in the water... Went in, updated my girls suits. Yesterday we went in and while there was 3 staff and only 2 of us in the store there was no help at all...we had to ask to find things and the girl just couldnt be bothered!!! Since my three children started swimming on a club team at five-years-old, I've been buying suits, parkas, goggles, bags, fins, and snorkels for years. They don't swim any more, but I do. Now, I'm the one buying all the swimming supplies. I always choose Swim West because their quality is outstanding, and their sales team is full of athletes that understand how to meet my swimming (and triathlete) needs. Additionally, my daughter's high school swim team always used Swim West, and we never had a problem with the suits. On the contrary, my daughter still wears her high school racing suit for recreational swimming. My only complaint with Swim West is that when they have sales, I spend way too much money stocking up on all the excellent deals. I really can't trust myself to stay on my budget during their clearance sales. read more

I just rushed over here to buy something to wear to take my kid to swim lessons in the morning since my husband, who usually takes him, decided to go skiing. I got to the store at 5:55. The employee decided to close the register early and wouldn't sell me anything. If you are going to close at 6, close at 6. Not at 5:55 with your open sign still on the door. You can close out your register AFTER you actually close. read more

overpriced poor quality. we purchased speedos for our entire team, the logos deteriorated the first time they got in the pool, not on a couple but all of them. We will not buy from here again. I agree the owner is very nice, the staff I've dealt with are clueless. read more

I buy suits here for myself and also for my mom. They are very knowledgeable and have a good selection and lots of discount racks. I like the sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that they sell here called REFLECT H20, I don't know if its hard to find at other sports stores but I have only seen it here. read more

This company needs to train its people better. Last year, we ordered swimwear. We paid for it and were told they would call us in 2-3 weeks. After 3 weeks, we called because we had not been contacted and were told, "Oh, we must not have sent that order in." The manager got on the line and promised to get it the next day. Fine. One year later, we go back and order a parka and backpack. When we called them, they had again forgotten to place the order. We paid and waited... but after no contact, we called again and they had AGAIN forgotten to place the order. That is 3 for 3 for those tracking at home. The manager, who was very nice, got back on the phone and told us she could get them to us the next day and would give us a $30 discount. We had had enough and canceled the order. No idea how this place can stay in business with this level of incompetence... read more

I guess Swim West has new owners. Store has been completely redone and is very orderly. I needed swim fins and Christine helped me find the right type for my ability and she made sure they fit correctly. I mentioned that my goggles leak and she helped my try on a bunch of different goggles. I mentioned that I'm very nearsighted and she told my they had goggles with corrective lenses. Again she patiently helped my try on another half dozen pair until we found goggles that fit well and allowed me to see clearly. I went for a swim and everything worked perfectly. Being able to see while swimming is a new experience :). Great to have a brick and mortar place right here in Encinitas that can help with fit and selection. As if that wasn't enough, she gave me a small discount-must have been my lucky day. Thank you. read more

Used contact us on website and received communication from website administrator that she was on maternity leave. Called the store and staff was unable to help me stating that I need to speak to owner for internet orders. Left my name, order # & phone # several times with no call back. No response by email or by leaving messages. Product never received, I was not charged but have not received confirmation on cancellation of order to date. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

The people who work at swim west are really nice and knowledgeable. I went in there last week because I wanted a goggles and I was recommended by a friend to the store. They are kind of tucked away in an older shopping but once you find it, it's pretty easy. I am pretty clueless about swimming - I'm a triathlete - but the girl working helped me find goggles, a cap and a suit that was a great buy. They have a great selection.
