Yes the pool is busy and a bit loud on Saturdays, but that's to be expected. If you come on a weekday, it is very calm. The pool here is Olympic size with a swim lane, a diving board and deep end of 9' I believe. Lifeguards (at least 4 at any time) are always on duty. They also have a kiddy pool which is great for kids under 2. The great thing about the pool is that it's Members Only or members guests. This helps to keep the riffraff out. On the same grounds as the pool is a rec room. This place is perfect for having parties, get-togethers, or reunions. There's even a bathroom in the rec room, so you don't have to go downstairs to use the shower area connected to the pool. There's also a kitchenette, and tables and chairs are already in the rec room. This room is available to members of the pool for a fee of around $200. There are also some tennis courts right next to the pool area. The tennis courts are great because they're fenced in. The fence looks like they are 8 to 10 feet high, so you don't really have to worry about balls leaving the court area. Next to the tennis court is an asphalt basketball court. I'm pretty sure it's a full court from the looks of it. Next to the basketball court is a nice jungle gym for kids to play on. The jungle gym area is mulched. This area contains swings for both young children, as well as infants and toddlers. It also has monkey bars, a couple of slides and a hamster tunnel for kids to crawl through. Near the jungle gym area is a dog waste repository. It also has a bag dispenser for animal waste. Parking in this place is pretty good most of the time. In the summertime you shouldn't have a problem finding a parking spot even at peak swimming hours. I will say however, that during swim team season parking can be at a premium during swim meets. Living in the neighborhood right next to the swimming pool, I've experienced firsthand people parking right on the street in front of my house and taking up my parking spot. People have gone as far as to also park in front of fire hydrants; the police actually patrol this neighborhood frequently and often hand out tickets when they see this. Overall this is a great area. It's great to take your kids out to the park and let them play on the jungle gym, there's also a walking path that winds through Runnymede Park, there's swimming in the summer, tennis, and just about anything you want here if you're an outdoors person.

I like booking a double lesson for extra practice time and to minimize driving back and forth. We have been here for nearly two years and have a rolling roster of instructors. Everyone we have met has been extremely fun, nurturing, and overall just wonderful. My first experience with SUP was at the Georgetown marina. There was no lesson. I had gone with friends who had SUP'd but it was new to me. It was scary and the Potomac is a beast to paddle. When I read and saw the Facebook photos of the classes and events run by Surf Reston, I knew this place would take care of me. Sign up was easy, it's all done online. Before I signed up, I had a few questions. I texted them and received responses right away! Once we arrived we saw the staff working diligently to get all the boards and life jackets together. We got a very detailed land lesson(about 10-15 min) and then the rest of the time was on the water. Steve and Sabrina were awesome. They know their stuff. My main issue is getting from the knee position to the Stand Up position. They had a few helpful tricks and then I was standing! They take lots of photos and sent them to us the very same day. The location is one of the Reston Lakes. We were on Lake Newport. It was very calm and we had the lake to ourselves. Once on there water we were free to paddle on our own. Steve and Sabrina were always there if we needed anything. Everything from questions, to registration to event was perfect. They offer group discounts so ask about it. The Sterling location isn't as big as some of the other climbing gyms, but it is plenty for a climbing session. I will say, the one issue of this location is that since it's a little small, the bouldering section is a little cramped in spacing compared to their other location in Alexandria. Not a a big problem at all, but can be during peak hours. Their staff here are very nice and friendly as well. Always a good group of people being welcoming to new guests and members. The facility itself is also well kept and clean.

I tell myself that making time and partnering up is better motivation and will ensure that I actually make the time to work on my fitness. Forget all that. I come for the eye candy. Plus, I lie to myself and imagine that if I keep up with climbing, I'll also have a ridiculously ripped, lean, toned body with a perfect V-shaped torso. No, don't burst my little dream bubble. Fair warning. Until you obtain a membership card (which took us roughly three weeks from signing up), you'll have to deal with the stench by the front desk. Our suspicious: the stack of rental climbing shoes that have been worn by countless people. Fortunately, I can now hold my breath or breathe through my mouth as I navigate past the worst of it. Once you're back into the main part of the gym, it's much easier to breathe. With plenty of bouldering, huge tall walls for belay climbing or top roping (which I still haven't experienced myself), and a couple of auto-belays, there has always been ample room to find a wall to climb. Plus, membership benefits include free yoga classes, a significant discount on climbing gear (which, believe me, I looked... it's never on sale anywhere), and a huge benefit on pricing for classes. The staff here seem well-informed and helpful, and it's always been easy enough to hunt someone down for questions about the gym, equipment, or suggestions on how to improve. After about a month, I can legitimately say that I'm pretty addicted. Whether it's on the climbing itself, or the view... well, jury's still out.

One thing inexperienced cheer parents, or rec/sideline cheer parents may not realize is that for your kid to excel at an all star level it requires dedication not only from your cheerleader but also from you. I won't lie. It is very expensive. It's very time consuming. But the payoff is that your cheerleader WILL improve in ways you didn't expect. Do not go into all star cheer putting in the bare minimum and expect amazing results. Our daughter is in the gym 5 days a week for practice and extra classes. Where the Rays add value is the class prices. Some gyms look to squeeze you for extras but not at the Rays. If you want to take your cheerleader's development seriously, give the Stingray Allstars one season and you'll see what I mean.

My daughter is the youngest in her class, so I didn't expect her to learn much at first, but she is learning something new or improving basic skills each week.
