A little pricey but it's all worth it. They teach great techniques and you will be challenged to do better. Love this place

How much is a semiprivate lesson vs private adult lesson?

These are all private lessons.

How long on average does it take a person to learn how to tread water?

Thanks for the question! Our pool at our facility is 4.5 deep, so we're unable to teach treading here. What we normally do with our clients looking to learn to tread water is have them take 2-4 lessons with us - so we're comfortable with their skill… Read more

Poor value for money. I recommend looking elsewhere for swimming lessons for your children, unless…read moreyou're prepared to spend twice as much time and money for them to learn how to swim. While the instructors do their best, the lessons are very short and the instructors often seem distracted, frequently glancing at the parents. I was told this is due to corporate management policies. They were also not transparent about pricing, rushing you to sign a waiver that includes more costs. Overall, you may need to attend and pay twice as many sessions here for your children to achieve the same progress they would elsewhere.

I've been taking Raiden here since he was 9 months, and now he is comfortably swimming in our pool…read more I love the online scheduling for make up classes. Raiden attends twice a week. At level 1, i loved being in the water with him. At level 2 and beyond, the children are independent. Raiden is a level 4 swimmer now and the patient transition helps him physically and emotionally mature to apply the skills he is being taught. He is 32 months enrolled in the program. There were crying days, but most were happy days, and some hug days that were better spent skipping the lessons even though your dressed at the pool door. Yes, the coaches are humans and work with toddlers exclusively - it's noticeably not easy. As a parent I'm vigilantly watching Raiden grow in the pool as a second pair of eyes through the glass as it's Aqua Tots policy to stay in the facility. parents are the additional safety measure. our children are precious and I would never want to solely entrust my baby with any swimming coach during the early stages of the program. The skills learned here, learned early, are priceless and well beyond the other measured complaints I've read.

The instructors for the APS swim classes really hit or miss compared to the county classes. We loved the first lady instructor, she always started classes on time and ended on time, knew what she wanted to do in the class, and had her songs with swimming movements ready. Last 2 sessions were with a gentleman instructor (who says he's been teaching swimming at APS for 15+ years) as the main instructor and recently he's been training this other lady and it's been so bad: 1. classes don't start on time half the time (one time started going around checking the kids in at the time class was supposed to start and that took 10 minutes, another time it's already time to start the class but instructor was standing around chatting for 5 minutes) and sometimes runs out of things to do class ended 5 min early 2. runs out of things to do in the class or don't know what songs to sing as we practice swimming movements and they start singing random songs or ask all the parents what song would you like to sing !!?? Could you do a little bit of prep beforehand or bring a cheatsheet into the pool so you know what to do next. Maybe it's the toddler class that's bad because kids are young... won't be doing the toddler class again here unless we get the first instructor back. Will wait for the class for older kids or go to county classes.

We signed up for private swim classes for my 3-year-old at KIDS FIRST Swim School in Springfield…read more Before starting, we clearly explained that our son is not used to new adults and that we wanted the same instructor consistently so he could feel comfortable and build trust. Unfortunately, almost every week there was a cancellation or instructor change. Out of 6 classes, my son had about 5 different instructors. For a young child who needs consistency, this was very stressful. Each class felt like starting over because he had to adjust to a new adult again, so there was little to no improvement. After about 3 weeks, I complained to the head instructor. Instead of listening or helping, he seemed frustrated and raised his voice back at me, basically saying he already knew. That was very disappointing. My biggest concern is that they require families to schedule private lessons far in advance, but they could not provide a consistent instructor for the set day and time. We chose private lessons specifically for consistency, and they did not deliver that. For families with very young children, especially children who need time to get comfortable with new people, I would not recommend this location for private lessons. It ended up being a huge waste of time and money for us.
