Amazing swim school. I've swam off and on for years, just freestyle, with long gaps in between. I decided to take it more seriously a few years ago. I can swim all 4 competitive strokes now (butterfly is still challenging and needs work) and working on flip turns which I can land but haven't perfected just yet. I've had wonderful instructors and the administrators have been excellent with rescheduling. Give them a try. You won't regret it. Very fair prices and probably the best in the city and I've been to other swim schools in the area. read more

Awesome swim instructor, terrible management. Our makeup lesson was cancelled with less than 2 hours notice after we rearranged our entire schedule to make it work. Also, two weeks after we signed up for a full summer of lessons, they moved the location most days of the week to a new location we cannot easily get to. They are also hard to reach by phone, so when they are unclear about cancellations, good luck figuring it out. So great instructor, but unprofessional management. read more

Wow - I would NOT recommend WeAquatics to any parents or families who are interested in customer service and an enjoyable experience. Our family signed up for a trial session ($45 each, and we were assured would be an hour-long session) and after 2 minutes, the coach said both kids completed their trial. After numerous times of talking with Management and trying to get my kids registered for their appropriate level, I am convinced that WeAquatics does not care about kids learning to swim; all they care about is taking your money! read more

I did the adult learn to swim program for about 5 months (at Waterside Fitness & Swim Club), and it was fantastic. I went from being able to stay afloat and kind of move around in the water, to being able to do all of the strokes and diving. Coach BJ and Harper were both fantastic instructors; adaptive, responsive, and fun to work with. Highly recommended! Great communication with the staff office too, in terms of rescheduling as needed, and whenever issues came up with needing to substitute instructors as needed. read more

Great instruction, convenient portal for entering absences and scheduling make-ups. We spend a few years doing group swim lessons with less than stellar results. After just a few one-on-one lessons, my then 4 year old was able to confidently swim the distance needed to make me feel comfortable with her being in the pool without me being right next to her. Over the next year+, she learned to execute the mechanic of most strokes, was always excited to go to lessons and third with the patient, calm, confident instruction of Coach Khia, Kidus and a few substitutes when we were making up lessons. This review is long overdue! Look no further, sign your child up for ISR through WeAquatics. My son was in and out of the area swim schools and I just was not satisfied with their lessons. My son (2.5 yrs old @ the time) started ISR in April 2022 with Coach Darrell & within 6 weeks he was able to hold his breath under water, float, turn on his back, and much more! It was definitely a commitment, driving to Alexandria during rush area M -F for 10 minutes but SO WORTH IT. My son was floating by the end of the first week alone for 30 secs. Then we continued with the maintenance classes once a week where he continued to practice his "saves" and learn more swimming skills. The ISR program is expensive but if you are invested and want your child to be comfortable in the water, please do it. They have multiple locations throughout the DMV area and it is easy to reschedule the maintenance classes. We were sad to leave such a great program due to relocation but so happy at our son's progress. Shout out to this black owned business! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

We'd tried several other swim classes with other providers and our daughter was first plateauing and then regressing, mostly because swim coaches changed all the time, to the point where she was anxious, crying, and wanted nothing to do with it. We worked with Sean at WeAquatics, and no joke, after the first session, our daughter was back up to speed, and then RAPIDLY developed swim skills, confidence, and love for swimming over the next few sessions. The coaches are top-notch, and the company is understanding, accommodating, and REACHABLE - they understand schedule complications and real-life, and have always worked with us to make sure we got the most out of our time and money. Coach Juwaun has taught us how to perfect our form, to be more efficient, and to be faster in the water. We have also worked on turns and transitions. In January of 2023 my son started lessons. He continued lessons for almost 2 years. He went from being terrified of the water to being comfortable swimming laps on his back. We had a couple of instructors during our time, but we had Coach Kidus the longest. This instructor was attentive, patient, and kind. I started lessons with Coach Lauren 4 weeks ago. I am in my late 20's and after nearly drowning when I was a child I CANNOT overstate how frightened I was of swimming. Lauren has been incredibly patient with me and holds me accountable to my goal every session. Today after only my fourth session with Lauren I was able to swim on my back from one end of the lane to the other. I am impressed by all of the WeAquatics instructors I have witnessed teaching lessons, they are patient and incredible at giving instruction. 1 month down... David from WEAquatics has been phenomenal in teaching our 3 kids how to swim from infant to 5 years old. Every summer for the past 4 years starting when our first kid was 10 months old we have been working with David. This summer was just touch up coaching done in short intervals where each kid got personal and intense attention and instruction. The result is they swim like fishes from my 5 year old to my almost 2 year old who I can't keep from jumping off the diving board and floating and bobbing and swimming around. Another result is that we are having another girl and we will be inviting David back to teach the whole family again- he is just that good with kids. Since we met David about 4 years ago, he had been friendly, gentle and so easy to get along with- and that's just with me as a new parent giving him side-seat coaching instructions as my kids each flounder and fussed first learning how to swim! :) But he is very professional, and smooth and willing to be flexible not only on working with the kids, but the schedule- you name it. And this is pretty much what my friend who had 3 kids also told me when she referred me to David 4 years ago. And the last major point is that Infant Survival Swim Class, or teaching babies and young kids with pools at home to swim is so important for them to feel free and easy and safe at home- and for the parents to have peace of mind too. We had private lessons at the Crystal city one fitness location. Our kids have taken many group classes with swim companies in the area, including with Arlington county, and they were still unable to even put their heads in the water. We even had one instructor asked if our kids experienced trauma..no, they are just fearful of water getting in their eyes, ears and nose! Weaquatics really helped, it's the one-on-one 30min lessons every week, and having patient but disciplined instructors. Our teacher was Delicia. My 7 year old has been taking one-on-one Learn to Swim (LTS) lessons with WeAquatics once a week for about six months. Our experience has been great and the program's effectiveness is evidenced by my son's notably increased confidence and ability in the water. When we started, he was timid at best, reluctant to go under water at all, and did not have a strong awareness of proper form. Six months later, he is a different person in the water -- he goes underwater without a problem and swims with confidence. Some of that may have come with age, but I have no doubt that the patient teaching, thoughtful attention, and skilled coaching from the WeAquatics instructors (specifically Marcello) deserve much of the credit. As parents, we are now confident in our son's safety in the water and have taken great joy in watching him start to have fun in the water (jumping in, going underwater, being brave). Separate from the lessons, the support staff are efficient and communicative -- scheduling/rescheduling is easy and the app/portal system is convenient and easy to use. read more

I wish I had read some of the reviews prior to enrolling so that I would have been aware. Absolutely wonderful instructors who are clearly passionate about their mission. That is the only positive feedback that I have. Working with the coordinators to schedule the lessons, rescheduling when instructors weren't available...and being issued make-up tokens that cannot be used rather that just giving us our money back has been horrific. My 6 year old son has been in one-on-one lessons on and off for the last year with WeAquatics and he has learned SO much. We've been with a few different instructors, and my son really liked them all. Within a few weeks, he could float on his back on his own and within a couple months, he could swim across an entire lap lane by himself! I found that he made a lot more progress with WeAquatics than he did in group lessons. Now he's learning how to dive into the water and trying to master strokes and side breathing. Two of our kids have gone through We Aquatics starting at age 6 months. It is tough going daily but for us it was a priority since we live near a lake. Now we have a newborn and can't wait for her to get started as well. We even participated in an international swim meet with them in St Lucia, our 4 and 6 year old competed. I don't want to disparage this entire company - I'm sure they have some wonderful instructors, and the admin person was very kind and helpful. But we did have a very poor experience with one instructor. I would encourage parents signing up for the first time to speak with someone in advance to make sure you are paired with an instructor that's a good fit for your child. For the price and given the good reputation of the company, I wrongly assumed that all the instructors would have the disposition to work with kids of all ages and experience levels, but that just wasn't the case. read more

Both of my girls (6 & 9) took Infant Swim Rescue (ISR) with Coach David and later Learn to Swim & swim team with Coaches Brad and Darrell (sorry if I missed other coaches). Just the fact that we were with them more than 5 years indicates the trust we have in this great set of swim coaches. Both of my girls are competitive swimmers now and record setters on their summer team. I also wanted to mention. Recently Aubrey got dunked one too many times. She was coughing badly (almost to the point of being sick) out in the middle of the pool. Delaney help her get back to the side of the pool. (She was never in danger and life guards were actually standing by in case the situation got worse. ) Another mother and I team tagged it to get her on the deck and turned on her side to help her breathe. The lifeguards were able to stand by and watch us, quite impressed with our knowledge. Guess where we learned that? Yup, that's right, at the very first ISR lesson. Thanks David! read more
