I have been going to Life Time since November 2021. It's honestly one of my favorite gyms that I've been a member of. I would say it's like a country club but without the golf course. I personally love the community here. I've made plenty of friends here and have hung out with some of them even outside the gym so it's not just empty promises of friendship. The staff here are all amazing. Ben is the membership manager and he's one of the most personable people I've met. The weight floor is well setup and doesn't feel crowded or small. When it's busy there will be a wait for some machines but that's to be expected. There's tons of cardio machines so you'll never be waiting on one here. They have pickleball here as well which has been a nice addition. It's super fun to play casually or if you're more competitive, they have leagues and tournaments here. There's also indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis, an outdoor turf, saunas, a kitchen, showers, towels, steam rooms and more! There's classes as well if you prefer group fitness environments. There's a little something here for everyone but it can be pricey. It's currently $180/mo for one person. It gets cheaper per person as you add more people to the account but gets pricey for a family. I don't recommend this gym for everyone because it's expensive for what you get. There's other gyms that offer many of the amenities like, kitchen, showers, weights, classes, etc for cheaper. But if money isn't a concern, then this gym is a great choice!

I personally love my gym! It has many great amenities. I just hope they stop raising the price. It's a great gym with great people but no it's not a Equinox. I would highly recommend the gym though! There's an indoor pool, outdoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna (inside ladies/men's locker room), steam room, they give conditioner, shampoo, razors, mouthwash, have a little spa area to get your nails done, get massages, the cafe food and shakes are fairly good, personal trainers, yoga, fitness classes, Pilates, cycling, basketball court, a brand new pickle ball court, est.... The list goes on. This gym was summed up perfect. It's a great gym if you like to use all the amenities and you're not just looking to strictly lift weights. They have tons of machines that meet all my needs. They're efficient and quick about machine maintenance as well.

Top notch fitness center in NOVA area. I'm a life time member at another location but visiting my mom recently a lot made me want to try this location that is near my parents home. With my type of membership, I was able to work out at this location as well. I took a few cycle classes while visiting. The instructors were nice with help of set up. Some were more energetic than others. The fitness machines are well kept. The locker room area is spotless with good amenities. Included is a dry sauna, heated whirl pool, and steam room. They also have a in-house cafe for some healthy eats and drinks. They have a beauty salon as well. It was good to work out here. Yes, you can get cheaper memberships in other gyms but Life Time Athletic gives you the premium package of working out experience and more. Side Note- This location has a rock climbing wall that I didn't realize. Will need to check it out next time I'm in town.~

DIRTY DIRTY rip-off place!!! Here are some updates as of 7/28/2021 So we re-joined this summer for the Pools ONLY (not the Gym). We needed somewhere to swim with our kid and also for me to exercise in the pool. We had to, in addition to the $120 member fee, pay for a pool pass for $75 each of us. They told us everyone had to buy a pool pass for the outdoor pool, but everyone I have spoken to, that was already a member, DID not have to buy a pool pass. A rip off of new members. So that's that. BUT here comes the important part..... The Pools themselves! I needed to do swimming exercise as part of my recovery from Spinal Surgery I had in May. And that simply hasn't happened because I never get to swim there, since the exercise pool is over booked!!! Even though they make you buy a pool pass to access the outdoor pools, you will never get to exercise there, as the exercise lanes are ALWAYS taken (see pictures) as they reserve 4 out of only 6 lanes for SWIM CLASSES!!!!! And people in the pool are hawking the two remaining lanes for hours. They won't share. Fights break out regularly because people need to use the lanes to exercise, but again, not enough lanes with the swim classes happening. I have documented it for your review. Then - Pools are filthy and dirty!! Not only is a lot of trash laying around on the pool deck but also gets in the pool. And the really awful part is that they don't clean the pools!!! If they will claim that they do, then they are doing an awful job!! Dirt, hair, trash is constantly floating around in the pool. Maybe their filter isn't even working properly. BUT for such an EXPENSIVE Club, I expect a flawlessly clean environment!!!!!! Especially if I have to pay an additional $210 for Pool Passes!!!!! See my photos for that. I tried to contact management about it and never received a response. Half the summer is over so I am curious what will even change with the pools. But I surely will keep documenting (so tune in for updates again), in the hope that someone will change something. Also, I never see water quality tested which is weird, because it's being tested every other hour at our community pool. Something else to mention in order to protect small children from injuries - the Club should prohibit any adults and teens from playing with large and hard balls, such as volleyballs and basketballs! The adults throw them hard and far across the pool. I saw a small child get hit in the head and it was crying hard. A bunch of other kids almost got hit, and the injuries could be as severe as whiplash. If I'll ever get hit after I just had Cervical Spine Surgery, I will sue this club.

At this gym you will learn to love your life through fitness it has everything you need to live an active lifestyle.

The gym is incredible! Lots of equipment and weights. Very spacious and clean. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend it. The amenities are top notch.

So I've been trying out all the locations in the area and going to use a similar fair review format for each because every PF location seems VERY different. Location: Sterling south right off 28 near the airport. Very inconvenient service road access and weird wrap-around parking. However, inside this is a huge facility with lots of space to work out. 3/5 Cleanliness & Maintenance: Overall, clean, new and bright inside. There was a guy actively mopping the locker rooms and wiping stuff down, and I saw other staff proactively wiping equipment down. 5/5 Equipment Availability & Condition: Good range of weights and equipment, though some cables seem to be 2:1 ratio and kettlebells, EZ bars, etc., don't go up very high. They had at least 4 machines out of order including a couple leg machines that caused me loooong waits for leg day while teenagers looked at their phones on the machines forever. 2/5 Staff & Customer Service: Very friendly and helpful staff who seemed to be doing a lot around the gym other than just standing behind the desk. 5/5 Atmosphere & Crowd Levels: Moderately packed; mostly a diverse and late teens to mid-30s crowd; this location is so large the crowd size is not a huge issue though, if they'd fix the broken equipment. 3/5 Amenities: No available hydromassage beds or chairs between what was being used and several being out of order. The lady at the desk told me "we only have one working unit" in a way that seemed like that was just normal and they never maintain them? Feel like that part of the black card advertising is a scam because PF does not seem to maintain them at all. They had a coin-operated massage chair limited to 10 minutes, however, it doesn't even recline at this location. 1/5

Another issue is member etiquette. During our visit, several people were using multiple machines at once and would not allow others to work in, saying they had multiple sets remaining. This meant my husband and I had to wait around just to access basic equipment. We visited around 9 a.m., which should be a less busy time, yet it was still difficult to use the equipment. I can only imagine how crowded and frustrating it must be later in the day. Save your money and join elsewhere.

I'm updating my review to add back a star to 4 total. Some improvements I've noticed lately:…read more - More frequent communication on social media and elsewhere digitally to members about happenings at the gym - Equipment repairs and even replacements of things like rope attachments for cables are happening quickly - Cleanliness overall is really good; I almost always see someone cleaning something when I'm there - Staff has been very friendly and helpful I also recently got a second gym membership at Planet Fitness* and have tried out several of their locations in northern Virginia since. And it's very clear what the difference between a ~$20 membership and a ~$60 membership get you. Compared to the 'chain gyms,' TFE is: - Way cleaner and better maintained, especially the locker room - Has a sauna, always a big bonus - Has additional strength training equipment, 1:1 cables, and weights that go up higher for those of us who are more experienced *Three big reasons I sprung for the outside membership: 1) TFE hours are rough sometimes to fit into my schedule especially the weekend hours. 24/7 gym is a necessity for me sometimes, even if I have to settle for a slightly less intense facility. 2) The day passes are so expensive. I imagine I can't be the only person who has a significant other or family member who doesn't live in the area but visits frequently enough to want to come to the gym. My girlfriend lives in Arlington so it'd be crazy for her to pay this gym's membership price to workout on the weekends with me, but it's actually cheaper for me to get a black card at PF than to buy even a couple day passes at TFE. I would recommend to TFE to think up its own version of a black card to allow for unlimited guests, perhaps throw in some massages at the salon inside the facility, etc. 3) It's month-to-month so there's no risk involved to try it. I understand why non-chains can't do this though as they likely rely on the people who sign up and then never come to keep crowds down but stay operational. Overall, TFE is great and you seem to get what you pay for compared to cheaper chain gym options, but I would love better weekend hours and more flexibility in bringing occasional guests as part of the membership.

It's clean, has towel service, has every piece of equipment I could ask for, but, most importantly, every person who works there is fantastic, starting with the manager. The front desk folks make a point of remembering you and greeting you by name. It's a big touch, and makes one feel welcome. I use, on occasion, the squash courts, the pool, spin class, the indoor track and, of course, the gym. All are kept immaculate, court reservations are on an app and are easy to get, and there's never a problem with getting (or sharing) a lap lane. I did see a review discussing the equipment in the gym and the culture. While from time to time a piece of equipment breaks, rarely is it down for any length of time. I do agree that some folks don't understand (actually they don't care) about etiquette (not restacking weights, sitting on equipment and using the phone, etc), and while I have not seen trainers policing them, I have noticed a ton of signage going up with gym rules and requests to abide by them. Some people are going to be jerks, I suppose, but I'm not sure how one can solve this problem other than by educating them. I could not recommend this place more

I did my best to get all of my questions answered upon signing up and trying to cancel. I'm still working on that right now. There is an annual $88 amenities fee, and memberships here are contract-based. There isn't a month-to-month option. If you want an unlimited guest pass, that comes at an additional cost. The gym also uses a tier system that affects which locations you can access. I wasn't made aware of these details until I tried to cancel right now. I was reply to by the business owner advising me that they would talk to their staff and yet I've seen zero changes and today I went as far as even asking the front desk, lady, why is she refuses to speak to me and she just stood there looking at me, dumbfounded, looking around for somebody to save her I said to her you know you are the only one life location that I come to that refuses to speak to anybody walking into the gym she looked at me like a deer in headlights. Her name is DIANE. train your staff to speak to people. It is literally the bare minimum that your staff should be doing a good morning. Have a good day goes a long way. This is bare minimum customer service. If I did not have to come to this location I would never step foot into this gym, but I refuse to drive 40 minutes every day to Manassas where they actually have trained staff that actually acknowledges their customers and isn't actually 200 times better gym, but I'm stuck here. It would be fucking nice to be greeted. I hate this location. Still being ignored walking into facility :) 11/19 And it's always the same employee. Very clear management could care less. No better location than Manassas and Fort Totten in DC. I recently moved to Herndon so I've been having to try to go to a gym. That's much closer to my house instead of driving for 35 minutes to Manassas and honestly I don't care how petty this makes me customer service should still be at the forefront of all of your businesses. There should be no reason why I'm walking into your establishment early in the morning where I can't even be told, Good morning I just get ignored because your front desk staff is just sitting on their phone , but let their friends come into the building and then they're all attentive and chatting and friendly but if you're not one of their friends, you're not gonna get spoken to I don't appreciate that whatsoever. Customer service is a huge deal to me if it's not obvious from my reviews. Not to mention that this location is huge, but it is completely laid out incorrectly. I'm not really sure why they need for a whole physical therapy office in this gym. If so much space and all the equipment is so freaking close to each other. You don't have any privacy when working out you don't even have personal space forget privacy because you're at a public gym but there is NO PERSONAL SPACE. You can barely even walk through machines you have to completely go around.

And I know that may be a cliche but it isn't. This is a community gym. The atmosphere is kind and supportive no matter who you are or your fitness level. For reference I am a 30 year old woman and have friends here that are twice my age. I've never felt pressured, bullied or creeped out once. Now let's talk about the staff... Brent. Brent, is the manager and has been since I joined. He has built a wonderful team and as far as I can tell a pretty positive work environment for everyone. He always remembers my name despite the fact that I've hardly ever worked with him directly. Wendy. Wendy is exceptional with members and our community. She always waves and stops to talk to me when she passes. And I'm pretty sure she knows everyone at this point :) I've made friends with many of the trainers here and so will you. Let's see who we've got... Zoe. Zoe is someone I've known for two years now and have actually become close friends with. She is without a doubt the nicest woman I've ever met. She knows a lot about running and cardio, so if you've got the thrill for a race she is your girl! Dan. Dan is a character and who many people turn to for advice about basic movement mechanics and health. Oh and he is pretty much athletic in everything. Just ask what he does in his free time. Haha Chris. Chris is a rockstar. He does classes in the early mornings along with a few other trainers and is consistently a happy guy. He will always try to make you laugh...don't tell Dan I said that. Stacy. I don't know Stacy very well but I know she works hard and is an early bird that loves to run. She has always been very sweet and kind towards everyone. I can't list all the people that make this place great but these are definitely the people that have influenced me the most. For the first year at Oak I worked out almost every day and every day I was greeted with the same kindness and support. Without that I'm not sure I would have stuck out with my journey. I can now do 5 pull ups in a row, deadlift over 220lbs and hip thrust over 300lbs. These are just a few of the goals I've set and reached for myself and I'm so glad I was able to accomplish them in such a place as Oak. If you have toured the place you already now how clean it is and that there are countless showers and lockers to choose from. Equipment is kept clean and ready to use. I hardly see a broken piece of equipment. And if I have it doesn't stay broken for long. Not all gyms are great so if you thought this place doesn't have enough to offer I think I can gladly state that it does. So if you are thinking about joining please don't hesitate. It's worth it.
