Blind cleaning and re-stringing honeycomb blinds is such a nuanced, specialized skill. It was not easy to find a company but boy, are we glad we found Swifty Blinds. They were able to fit us in early due to a customer cancellation, came on time, dealt professionally with our building managements access issues, worked thru it, took the blinds and returned them and reinstalled within 24 hours. We're helping get my sister's condo ready for sale and we needed some wood blinds repaired. At the store I met Laurie, who checked out the condition of the shades. This place is GREAT and also very unique! They come in the early day to take your blinds down and to their shop for repair and/or cleaning and then.. they come back late the same day to install them back up. I was ready to purchase new costly wood blinds but they made my old dirty broken ones look and feel like new ones at a fraction of the price new blinds would cost. They even repaired some broken slats that my dog destroyed. No one including myself thought they could be repaired but we were so wrong. This is a small independently owned local business of which I love supporting. It's a mother and son. I have used them countless times over the years for my home and also other rental properties I own and they have always surprised me at how wonderful my blinds turn out. I was so pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to work with this company that I felt they deserved another 5* review here. The cord to pull our blinds up and down broke. The company that installed them (budget blinds) wanted to send someone to "look at them" (and charge $150 for it!) first because we didn't know the model/order number and they didn't keep a record of the sale (the receipt didn't mention the order number either). We kept telling them that the order number shouldn't matter, all we need is for someone to come and change the cord on the blinds which seem to be pretty standard. We gave up on them and called Swifty. They asked a couple of questions, and scheduled a technician. The technician came a little later than originally scheduled but called to warn us of his delay. He was nice, knowledgeable, and effective. He quickly put new cords on 2 blinds and we paid $130 total. And I learned a lot of interesting things about blinds! I wish every other handyman/ repair service was as good as Swifty! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I made an appointment 2-weeks in advance. They were supposed to come to my condo between noon and 1pm. I took the day off to meet the repair guy. They did not show up and I called them repeatedly from 1:30 until 5pm. Left several messages on their voice-mail. No return call. NOTHING. They never called to tell me they were late (or in this case, not coming at all. I left them a 4th message around 5:30 with a few choice words and letting them know how unprofessional they are. I also mentioned in my voicemail that I would be writing a yelp review. I received a call back within 10 minutes. Coincidence? I let the guy know exactly how I felt and he told me that I could call back the following day to reschedule. Against my better judgment, I called them every day for a week, left messages on their voicemail and have heard nothing. These people are totally inconsiderate arrogant jerks. Do not waste your time with them. UPDATE!!! Somebody from this company responded publicly on YELP. They told a BOLD FACED LIE! Nobody ever contacted me to reschedule, that, coupled with the fact that they never showed up and I that I waited for an entire day for them.......is why I have posted this review. Funny that the other negative reviews on YELP cite the exact same problems. They also state in their response........as a foolish attempt to discredit me......that all my reviews on Yelp are negative. Obviously they can't even read correctly because that too is untrue. Now more than ever, based on their response, I encourage people to look elsewhere before working with this company. All they had to do, at the very least, was pick up the telephone and call so that I would not have wasted an entire work day waiting for them. read more

I live in a rented east facing condo and needed to get my blinds fixed but didn't want to spend a fortune doing so..I contacted Swifty after hearing about them from other people in my building and I am glad I chose them. Laurie was quick to reply to all my queries via email after looking at pics of my blinds and she gave me a decent quote and told me that the next working day they were available was three weeks out. She politely told me that she would let me know in case someone cancels and an opening comes up. The very next day she sent me an email saying that they could come in the next day. Dustin came in on time and it took him hardly ten mins to fix my blinds. He also took a look at the other blinds in my condo. Overall i am very satisfied I chose this family run business. I'm writing this review to give these guys a bump up in ratings. I had some honeycomb, room darkening shades that I had repaired over the Christmas holiday. They desperately needed cleaning. I looked on Angie's List and here, and decided to go with Swifty, even with the low rating. I dropped my blinds off (they do have a pickup service), since they were already down & I was out running errands. I was told that due to the type of shade, the room darkening material may come loose during cleaning and may cause the shades themselves to bubble. That was the chance I was willing to take, since they hadn't been cleaned in a few years. I also needed 4 silhouette blinds and 2 wooden blinds cleaned. I was told that they could bring the first pair of shades back when they came to pick up the others. Since I couldn't get an appointment for 2 weeks, I picked up my shades and rehung them myself. They look just fine...no bubbling, no separation. Fast forward to today...My appointment was for 9:00. The young man (sorry, I should have asked for your name), showed up around 9:15. He had my shades down and wrapped up in 20 minutes. Since I had to work until 4, he said he'd be back around 4:30. He showed up around 4:50. He quickly got to work, rehanging everything. Now my wooden shades were filthy, with quite a bit of dust. Not anymore. I'm going to have to make a mental note to use a swifter every month to keep them looking this good. The the silhouettes, which are white (don't ever get white shear shades!!), look brand new. There's no funky chemical smell, and no yellowish discoloration. When the room darkening shades were originally installed, unbeknown to me, the person who installed them didn't connect the brackets properly. As a result, when you pull on them, there's a little bit of a give. I had the service technician take a look. He didn't have the proper screws, so he's offered to come back next week to fix the problem. Total bill for 8 blinds/shades...$218, which considering the fact that they did it in 1 day, I find reasonable. Bottom line, I will use Swifty Blind Cleaning again and recommend them to anyone looking for a blind cleaning service. read more

Working with this company was not by choice it was prearragned by the seller of the condo (full disclosure, I live with Matt S who wrote the review below). I was at work all day and had not dealt with any of the planning for this installation of repaired/remade blinds. Last Wednesday, the seller arranged for the install to take place, but we were unavailable. Once we found out about the installation, that very same day, we called to reschedule. As I mentioned Matt was the one who spoke to a very nice gentlemen who gave the time slot of 11am to 1pm on Wednesday September 23rd. When they were no shows, after trying to reach them multiple time via phone, Matt finally emailed. Fed up with the responses and lack of responsibility Matt wrote his below review. Once I was home I attempted to give them a call to find out what had happened. I was created by a pleasant and calm woman, Laurie, then when I told her our address, the her tone changed. She became very rude and you could tell the distaste in her voice. Mind you all I had said was, "I am looking for more information on an installation that did not show up today," and gave her my address. She said there was not an appointment on their board for us so we did not make one. The gentleman was out of the office and could not answer any questions. Also, that we can pick up there blinds whenever we want. I asked about a potential delivery and she said that they just don't have time for that. In Laurie's final email this afternoon she said "We are not the company for you." They must not be a company for anyone that expects any amount of respect or service. Go elsewhere. read more

I can't stop looking at my "new" blinds. Actually, they are at least 15 years old and look as good today as the day I had them installed. From my first phone call asking about the services to my pick up of the finished product, I can't say enough about my excellent experience. If you have wood blinds, do not hesitate to use their services. Now that I found them , I will make this cleaning an annual event. I also had faded dirty cloth strips on my blinds and they replaced those too!! They also repaired a few spots perfectly. I'm writing this to give these guys the review they deserve. I recently purchased a home in Chicago and needed to have new blinds installed. The seller was working with the company to schedule a date for installation which did not work for me. I called and left a voicemail on the company's phone number to schedule an alternative installation. In a week's time, they finally returned my phone call. The person I spoke with on the phone from this company scheduled me for a 2 hour window during the day a week later which I blocked off in my calendar. On the day of installation, I left work to be available for the installation guys and waited 2.5 hours but no one ever came. I called the company three times and could not get an answer. I then found their email online and sent them an email, but the scheduler claimed they had never booked my installation. Aside from the aggravation of leaving work to wait for 2.5 hours for a no show, the company does not even have the decency to contact me via phone to try and schedule an alternative time slot. Instead, they have sent me an email saying I can pick up my blinds at their store location and install myself. I really wanted to support this company and give them additional business as we have another room that needs window treatments as well as others that need periodic cleaning. I am normally a huge promoter of small business, but I do not recommend anyone uses this company. They are poor at communicating and do not care about their customer's time. read more

This business knows what they're doing. Dustin just left and he was superb! I had to wait three weeks for an appointment for my repair because they're so busy; it was worth the wait. Dustin called this morning to say he had a cancellation and could come early which fit in exactly with my schedule. He went about the repair showing great knowledge of how to take my super sized blinds down and install new cords. He proceeded in an extremely efficient manner. I have some VERY old blinds that needed repairing. I spoke to Dustin on the phone and he was very professional and up-front about what they might or might not be able to do. He came out, inspected the blinds and gave me an idea what to expect. I received a call later that day and the the blinds were returned - Same day. Now, some of the repairs could not be done because of end-of-lifed parts, but that is no fault of Swifty Blinds.
