I found Windy City Blinds via a Google search and decided to request a consultation after reading all the favorable reviews. In the past, I've always purchased and installed my own blinds so this was my first experience with a professional installation company. When I initially called, I spoke with Maureen. She literally seemed like the nicest person. She explained the services they offered and how things would unfold from consultation to install. She also explained that delivery would be delayed by 3-4 weeks due to Coronavirus. After speaking with Maureen, I decided to go ahead with the consultation. Ruth arrived for the consultation on time and prepared. She brought a huge case of samples, but didn't end of up showing us that many of them. She asked if we had idea of what we were looking for and since we did there weren't many other suggestions offered. We decided to go with solar shades in the front and rear of the property and honeycomb shades throughout the rest of the condo. In retrospect, I wish we'd asked Ruth to show us all she had to offer, but overall we are happy with our selections. Ruth did do a great job assisting us with selecting the proper percentage of light/dark filter of the shades. For example, the sun shines brightly off my rear deck. Therefore, she suggested that we go with the 1% shades which have worked out great so far. I literally felt the difference as soon as they were installed. The room immediately felt cooler. A month after the consultation the shades were installed by Israel and Joe. They arrived promptly as scheduled and were polite and professional. They worked diligently for three hours straight without taking a break. The install went smoothly and I have no complaints. We tipped both gentleman $30 for a job well done. Our total cost was about $4700 for fifteen window treatments. That's pricy for sure, but worth it if you literally want it all to be handled by someone else. I'm also glad we were able to support a small family owned business during these tough economic times. read more

She was very professional and capable of figuring out what we were looking for and effectively proposed the right design options to us. She responded to our questions via text extremely promptly. However, we difficultly decided to go with another Hunter Douglas vendor only because of the timing matters. We contacted another vendor after Windy City Blinds and went further customizing the options in more details with them. If the schedules were the other way around, we might eventually go with Windy City Blinds. By the way, Windy City Blinds's quote was very reasonable, too, and so the price was definitely not the factor why we did not proceed with Windy City Blinds. read more

Windy City Blinds recently replaced 6 floor to ceiling hand-operated light filtering shades with three Hunter Douglas motorized shades and we couldn't be happier. Because the shades operate smoothly and silently at a touch of the app or remote, we use them so much more than the old ones.
