We had attempted to work with another Chicagoland business only to find no response after initial contact. We looked through Yelp for other businesses and came across Simply Custom Blinds. They were easy to work with, from scheduling to installation. Serena was a pleasure to work with. She showed us several options to meet our budget and helped us find a good color for our home. Truly Professional. The install was no different. He was courteous of our time and was here on time. Within 45min we had our window treatments up on the entire first floor. He went over cleaning and function as well as removal if we ever wanted to take them down. All measurements were perfectly fitting. Could not recommend anyone else but Simply Custom. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. We are 100% content with every aspect of business done with them. read more

One of the main reasons we decided to include Simply Custom in our research for our window treatments was the positive online reviews they received including on Yelp! They did not disappoint! They took the time to work with us...we were not people who knew exactly what we wanted right from the start. We got other quotes and Simply Custom had a very good price and gave our house a great look with great service. We definitely recommend Simply Custom. read more

Great service. Responsive to follow up questions. Professional team. I recommend. Thanks

Simply Custom helped me out of a big bind. I had three window shades fail that I was unable to work with the original vendor on getting replaced. After a bit of research, I found Simply Custom and filled out an online contact form to see if they could help. Greg got back to me promptly and walked me through possible options. Ultimately, he was able to get the shades replaced under warranty, which resulted in a lot of cost savings to me. This was tremendously valuable. Greg is clearly knowledgeable about his craft and has great customer service skills, but what really stands out to me is the extra mile he's willing to go to for his customers. I noticed this multiple times throughout this process and I find it so hard to find these days. Thank you Greg and Simply Custom. You all will be my next call should future window treatment business come up. read more

I stopped in and was treated with care and courtesy. Greg couldn't solve my shade problem but took the time to find me the exact right next step. We've used them in the past and have always found them reliable and good people. read more

Greg Buetow and his wife Serena run a small business of custom window treatment. They are simply outstanding in every way: friendly, decent, competent, reliable. Three years after installing our blinds something small went wrong which we could not fix; Greg came to our house and fixed it. Free of charge. Where else do you find such service? Why are not more businesses like Simply Custom? Margalit and Joel read more

We could not be happier with the whole experience working with Simply Custom. Since blinds are all completely custom to fit old windows exactly, it pays to buy from someone that gives you enough attention and care to get it right. Everything was on time, and communication was great. Also a plus to be able to shop local rather than going to a large anonymous company. We'll definitely shop here again when we need blinds. read more

SimlyCustom did an excellent job with our power shades. Greg and Serena were very responsive, worked with our budget and the installation was on time. Would definitely recommend Simply Custom read more

I love giving locally owned shops my business, and I had a phenomenal experience with Greg and his wife Serena from start to finish. He was able to come out for a consultation the day after I contacted him, gave me a ton of options with zero sales pressure. My custom Hunter Douglas blinds were in and ready for installation in two weeks as promised. Because I had a tricky corner window, Greg and Serena decided to do the install themselves. I think it took them about 25 min to install 6 windows that look beautiful. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. read more

Greg & Serena were wonderful. We had 2 visits: one from Greg and later another one from Serena. They were very professional and friendly. We knew up front that we had to wait several weeks for the 4 ordesr and we were okay with that. WE got Hunter Douglas and we are very happy with the finished product. G & M. read more

I'll keep this brief.... -ordered Aug 27. Stuff was installed FINALLY on Dec 28. 128 days. Initially told 2 to 3 weeks -the 70% /30% deposit is ridiculous. Should be 50\50 -2nd half should be paid AFTER install not before and thanks Greg for just charging the card on file instantly when blinds finally came in with no heads up. It's only been over 4 months ‍ -ZERO COMMUNICATION- if I didn't initiate conversation with Greg I would have never gotten any info for 128 days - passes you off to their installer and cuts ties. Never even got a follow up saying "hey how's the new blinds" "thanks for your business." ‍ -it becomes your job to contact, your job to set everything up with installer after $1300 you think Greg would take care of it ‍ -Greg talks in circles and rambles. Extremely frustrating person to deal with with little to no empathy for his customers. -again ZERO COMMUNICATION- did I mention this one already?! Lol it was my biggest issue. I get covid/delays but again if I didn't contact Greg I wasn't getting any info. And my fav Greg " oh I was just about to call you actually" sure Greg .....sure..... Bottom line is this place is nice good selection but They are just a front for Blind manufacturers. They don't make the blinds. They don't install the blinds. They have nothing to do with the companies they order from. They just simply order them on your behalf and take their cut. If you order here be prepared to have it take a long time. 128 days for me and currently it's been 137 days with no crank to open blind since the installer didn't have one that fit. Said he would get one to us by the end of the week. That never happened either. Never again would I order anything from here nor would I send friends here. read more

Excellent service! Pricing was very good based on my online research. The showroom is a very valuable asset that enables you to view and operate the alternatives. Their in-home visit then let's you decide on materials and colors. You are dealing with co/owners with 20+ years of experience who are knowledgeable, friendly and down-to-earth. We highly recommend them. We installed automated shades in our family room. They are great for our plants, our privacy, and our security on trips, not to mention convenience. They even work with Alexa! read more

Serena did a great job on my living room curtains. She has a wide selection of fabrics, both for colors and textures. We opted to do the measurements ourselves and I got all that I wanted. It's just a nice little family business of good craftsmanship for those of us who are tired of cheap flimsy stuff online that's never as good as it looks in the picture. read more

What I loved about working with Simply Custom is that they were able and willing to work within our budget and still give us beautiful drapes for our very large window. We previously had a consult from Eddie Z's and they conveniently didn't mention their exorbitant prices until later on in the process AFTER we chose our selections. What a waste of time. We got similarly overpriced options from Gotcha Covered also. No one seemed to be able to offer more reasonable custom options, except Simply Custom. Serena was able to give us plenty of options at half the price of Eddie Z's which was so very appreciated. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

We are so pleased with our new blinds. Greg and Serena are professional and know their stuff. The process was simple and convenient. And the final product is made well and looks beautiful. The installer was friendly, efficient and cleaned up after the install. A very good experience. read more

Simply Custom did an amazing job on our window treatments! Serena went over various different styles with me, all while keeping my budget in mind. We were able to find exactly what I wanted for the lowest possible price. She was flexible in that when I needed to reschedule my in-home consultation, she was able to fit me right now. My treatments were ready in exactly 3 weeks, and Dale was able to come and do the installation on a Sunday morning during a holiday weekend, just in time for a get together I was having that afternoon. I have received tons of compliments on the three different brands and styles of treatments that we decided on, and many have asked who did them. I am so happy I decided to go with Simply Custom. read more

This was our first time ordering custom blinds, so we did not know what to expect. When we walked into their store, Greg was super helpful and knowledgeable, and Serena came to our house a week later to show us more samples. We opted to have the blinds installed for us also, and their installer was very efficient and friendly. We will definitely call them with our next blinds project! read more

My experience was truly excellent! Even in the midst of the COVID pandemic, the entire process was very smooth. We absolutely love our blinds, and they gave us so many options. Working with Greg at Simply Custom was great. We selected Hunter Douglas blinds because of the quality and great warranty. Greg even walked me through how to install them since I wanted to do that myself. He came out and measured and everything was prefect when it came in. Made my home magazine BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Excellent customer service and the owners are extremely knowledgeable about the products they are selling- they really helped me with this tricky window I never thought could get blinds for. When I visited their showroom I felt as though they really wanted to assist me with obtaining the look I was going for and not just selling a product. I really had a fantastic experience working with Simply Custom. I absolutely LOVE my new blinds, and they are exceptional people. I had gotten several estimates from different companies: a small local one, a big box store, and the giant company (you know the one with a catchy jingle that has been buying up smaller businesses). I even had estimates from online companies. Some quotes were super expensive. Some pressured me to buy on the spot. Some didn't even had a business card and scribbled their estimate on a pad of paper and told me to take a photo of it rather than offering me a copy. Online ones were cheap but would have taken 8 weeks, it's a gamble hoping your measurements are correct, and good luck with installation. (Measuring it yourself is trickier than you think) In the end I decided to go with Simply Custom because it is rare that one gets to work with good people like Greg and Serena. It feels less like a transaction and more like a connection. Greg was very earnest, kind, thoughtful, expedient and reliable- he followed up when he said he would. I told him about the time constraint I had so he offered to give me a rough estimate with measurements I sent by email. He sent me something back right away, with detailed explanations, even though it was closing time. He came the next day to measure and presented some options. (Good thing he came to measure because my measurements were off). He explained things in detail and told me what to expect, set up a timeline, and communicated with me with updates when it shipped. The installer was also fantastic. He came on time and he did a great job. I highly recommend working with them and leaving it to the best professionals to get your new window treatments. read more

The installation team could benefit from an etiquette review concerning home servicing.

I had two Hunter Douglas duet window shades who's lifting mechanism had broken and had to be replaced. I called Simply Custom and the owner who lives nearby stopped over the next day and picked up the two window shades. They repaired them within a week and a half and I had them back in place before my Thanksgiving dinner party. Thanks Greg! read more

Background info: I called several custom window treatment business in the Chicago area only to find out that many of them do not service the Forest Park area. A few of them didn't even call me back after I left a message. My criteria for selecting the businesses was based solely on high ratings and the volume of ratings. Unfortunately, Simply Custom, Inc. doesn't have a high volume of ratings, which makes sense given this is a relatively small operation (with huge positive results). Let me get on with my review. I called the phone number listed on Yelp for Simply Custom, Inc. and left a quick voice message. Unlike many of the other custom window treatment business, Greg responded to my voice message within a few hours. On that premise alone, I knew I was going to go with his company. We scheduled an appointment to look at window treatment options at my home. Originally, I was planning to only purchase window treatment for my bedroom. On Greg's way out of my home, I asked if he had anything suitable for my living room (which I had already installed some black-out and sheer curtains from BB&B) based on simple criteria, I needed the window treatment to open from the middle of the sliding doors, not either ends. He presented some modern window treatment that I couldn't pass up. I couldn't have asked for a better person to help me select my window treatment. Greg vaguely remembered there was a $50 rebate on the window treatment that I selected and even called his wife while at my home to confirm. He later on followed up with the appropriate documentation and reminded me of the deadline to submit the paperwork to the manufacturer. I honestly can't say enough good things about Simply Custom, Inc. Ok, Lastly, I gotta talk about the finished product. DOPE!!! (yea yea yea....reprimand me later for using slang). Until now, I've been holding off on mentioning the products that I purchase. F*ck it, I went with two silhouettes in the bedroom and a skyline in my living room all made by Hunter Douglas. Both allow me to peer at Chicago's beautiful skyline while blocking any peering neighbors. Prior to walking out of my condo every morning, I stand there and look at my window treatment like a proud dad smiling at his children at kindergarten graduation. Well done, B, well done. read more

We could not have been happier with their responsiveness, flexibility, and customer services. The custom made blinds they installed in our home fit perfectly to cover some rather unusual windows we have. They offer a wide range of products and materials and we are very happy with the results. Serena also went out of her way to accommodate our limited availability and to expedite our order. We highly recommend Simply Custom. read more

Greg is wonderful! I was trying to fix a blind with a bad clutch. Couldn't find the part anywhere. Tried Simply Custom, and Greg answered and said that they dont sell parts but to come on in, he had some miscellaneous parts laying around. I came in and Greg quickly found a part that fit. Saved me a lot of work and grief! When I asked how much I owed him, he said to not worry about it. Will definitely use Simply Custom for all my window and blinds needs. Greg is friendly, personable, and a good man. Love to see good honest businesses do well. read more

Simply Custom Blinds is a family-owned and run shop where you get professional attention and kindness. We stopped in to see if they had any brackets for an old model of a blind which we have and which was broken. Although this isn't in their business description, the owner went out of his way to hunt up a bracket that he turned out to have sitting around "just in case" and he sent us away with the bracket, plus an extra, at no charge. While there, we discovered they had several blinds that we were interested in. The owner happily put off his late lunch to give us an estimate, which turned out to be very reasonable. We hope to follow up and replace old blinds in our home with new ones from their establishment as soon as life allows. read more

This is a locally owned business (I think husband/wife). I needed my entire house fitted with blinds. They came to my house with some samples and then they took measurements. After that we went to the showroom which has an overwhelming number of choices. They were great about helping me narrow down my choices (I am not at all good at that type of thing). After a couple of hours the pick and choose process was done (again, this was for an entire home). I had a couple of odd sized windows so the delivery was about 2-3 weeks (I didn't want to have it installed in a piecemeal fashion). When all pieces were in we quickly set up an installation date. I was impressed how quickly they can install all those blinds! One blind had a slight factory defect and they were super quick to come out, evaluate and order a replacement. That piece was replaced within a week. The quality of the blinds are GREAT! The light blocking ones in the bedroom (which faces East) is a life/sleep saver. All the others look just right for the rooms in which they were placed. Prices were very fair (I did look at a couple of other places before here). PS They have the coolest remote controlled blinds in the showroom but the budget couldn't justify that purchase. Nonetheless, they're just plain cool. read more

This is a bit delayed, but I used Simply Custom to install blinds in my apartment last year. However, my experience really upset me and I would hate for someone else to go through what I did. It took the company 4 visits to install 8 blinds. Why you ask? Well the first time, they did not bring all 8 blinds, just 4. The second time, the person who was coming out made me wait for hours then called me with some weird excuse, saying that he spoke to my front door man and was told he could not park in front of my building. When I asked my front door man, he said that no one had even come by today. The third time they forgot all the remaining blinds; literally showed up to my place with nothing. The final time they came and installed and left a mess all over my floors. When I called Greg B. the man who works at Simply Custom to explain the difficulties, he was not understanding or apologetic at all. I literally wasted my Saturdays for these people to come and do nothing. I recommend you find a more reliable company. read more

We purchased blinds nearly a year and a half ago. Greg was very professional with high degree of attention to details. He knows his stuff.....and quite frankly, I don't think of blinds too often. Once they're up and match your décor...great. Over a year after they were installed, we noticed the blinds "sagging". During the Christmas holiday, Greg came out inspected, and noted the manufacture flaw in the blinds. Greg handled all communications with the mfg. and made sure the product was replaced for free and he came out before our Christmas guests arrived and personally re-hung the blinds...again for free. I highly recommend Simply Customs Blinds....and this is the first review I have ever written for any product or service...That's how great they are! read more

Well, if you have a penchant for absolutely no professionalism, poor products, and no design skill, than this is the place for you!! So so so pleased with quality and timely manner in which product was delivered that I actually had to file a credit card dispute (same piece was re-made THREE times). I was told that I lost the dispute due to the fact that nowhere on my invoice did it specify the amount of time it would take to receive final product. I am in the process of completing a grievance with the Better Business Bureau. Just keep on driving and spare yourself time/money/aggravation. Drive a couple more blocks and go work with the skilled team at Gotcha Covered on Western Ave (prices are way better and better quality blinds/drapes). read more

Greg at Simply Custom goes above and beyond! I contacted Simply Custom in hopes that they could help me fix or replace the custom power unit for twelve motorized shades that had shorted out due to water damage. Although Simply Custom had not done the initial installation and the company listed on my power box was no longer in business, he did not let that deter him. He put me in touch with a manufacturer who could build a new power box for me, helped my find a qualified contractor who could install it, and followed up with me to make sure it was programmed correctly. The customer service and professionalism at Simply Custom is unparalleled, and I highly recommend them! read more

We were very happy with the friendly service from Serena and Greg. About a year ago we moved into a house around the corner from their previous location and were FINALLY getting around to replacing the window coverings. Greg took my call, and even though they seemed pretty busy Serena was at our house that afternoon. She stayed past 5 to help us think think through what we wanted, and was super friendly. When the particular blinds we wanted weren't available in kid-safe form (i.e., without the long strings that are a hazard), Serena called us back right away and helped us select an alternative we'd identified. The cost covered the installation, and the installation tech (Alex) got in touch with us pretty promptly on a Saturday. Alex installed the blinds well before the estimated two weeks and (like Serena) stayed past 5 to get the job done. In our experience everybody involved was prompt and very responsive, and I appreciated the work ethic. We'll definitely go back to these folks when we want to do more with window treatment. read more

After recently purchasing a new condo I realized I need to quickly invest in some window treatments. My initial instinct was to just go to a "big box" home improvement store and buy some I could hang myself. Someone suggested I talk with professionals and I have to say, I'm so glad I did because Simply Custom really nailed it. I submitted a request for info and within the hour someone contacted me; 3 days later they were out to do a design consultation and measure all the windows. The installer was in and out within 90 minutes and they look phenomenal. This is the most seamless experience I've ever had with hiring someone to assist in home improvement. Friendly, punctual and delivered on-time. They fundamentally make the house look a designer put it together. read more
