I'll keep this brief.... -ordered Aug 27. Stuff was installed FINALLY on Dec 28. 128 days. Initially told 2 to 3 weeks -the 70% /30% deposit is ridiculous. Should be 50\50 -2nd half should be paid AFTER install not before and thanks Greg for just charging the card on file instantly when blinds finally came in with no heads up. It's only been over 4 months ‍ -ZERO COMMUNICATION- if I didn't initiate conversation with Greg I would have never gotten any info for 128 days - passes you off to their installer and cuts ties. Never even got a follow up saying "hey how's the new blinds" "thanks for your business." ‍ -it becomes your job to contact, your job to set everything up with installer after $1300 you think Greg would take care of it ‍ -Greg talks in circles and rambles. Extremely frustrating person to deal with with little to no empathy for his customers. -again ZERO COMMUNICATION- did I mention this one already?! Lol it was my biggest issue. I get covid/delays but again if I didn't contact Greg I wasn't getting any info. And my fav Greg " oh I was just about to call you actually" sure Greg .....sure..... Bottom line is this place is nice good selection but They are just a front for Blind manufacturers. They don't make the blinds. They don't install the blinds. They have nothing to do with the companies they order from. They just simply order them on your behalf and take their cut. If you order here be prepared to have it take a long time. 128 days for me and currently it's been 137 days with no crank to open blind since the installer didn't have one that fit. I really had a fantastic experience working with Simply Custom. I absolutely LOVE my new blinds, and they are exceptional people. I had gotten several estimates from different companies: a small local one, a big box store, and the giant company (you know the one with a catchy jingle that has been buying up smaller businesses). I even had estimates from online companies. Some quotes were super expensive. Some pressured me to buy on the spot. Some didn't even had a business card and scribbled their estimate on a pad of paper and told me to take a photo of it rather than offering me a copy. Online ones were cheap but would have taken 8 weeks, it's a gamble hoping your measurements are correct, and good luck with installation. (Measuring it yourself is trickier than you think) In the end I decided to go with Simply Custom because it is rare that one gets to work with good people like Greg and Serena. It feels less like a transaction and more like a connection. Greg was very earnest, kind, thoughtful, expedient and reliable- he followed up when he said he would. I told him about the time constraint I had so he offered to give me a rough estimate with measurements I sent by email. He sent me something back right away, with detailed explanations, even though it was closing time. He came the next day to measure and presented some options. (Good thing he came to measure because my measurements were off). He explained things in detail and told me what to expect, set up a timeline, and communicated with me with updates when it shipped. Background info: I called several custom window treatment business in the Chicago area only to find out that many of them do not service the Forest Park area. A few of them didn't even call me back after I left a message. My criteria for selecting the businesses was based solely on high ratings and the volume of ratings. Unfortunately, Simply Custom, Inc. doesn't have a high volume of ratings, which makes sense given this is a relatively small operation (with huge positive results). Let me get on with my review. I called the phone number listed on Yelp for Simply Custom, Inc. and left a quick voice message. Unlike many of the other custom window treatment business, Greg responded to my voice message within a few hours. On that premise alone, I knew I was going to go with his company. We scheduled an appointment to look at window treatment options at my home. Originally, I was planning to only purchase window treatment for my bedroom. On Greg's way out of my home, I asked if he had anything suitable for my living room (which I had already installed some black-out and sheer curtains from BB&B) based on simple criteria, I needed the window treatment to open from the middle of the sliding doors, not either ends. He presented some modern window treatment that I couldn't pass up. I couldn't have asked for a better person to help me select my window treatment. Greg vaguely remembered there was a $50 rebate on the window treatment that I selected and even called his wife while at my home to confirm. He later on followed up with the appropriate documentation and reminded me of the deadline to submit the paperwork to the manufacturer. I honestly can't say enough good things about Simply Custom, Inc. Ok, Lastly, I gotta talk about the finished product. DOPE!!! (yea yea yea....reprimand me later for using slang). Until now, I've been holding off on mentioning the products that I purchase. F*ck it, I went with two silhouettes in the bedroom and a skyline in my living room all made by Hunter Douglas. Simply Custom Blinds is a family-owned and run shop where you get professional attention and kindness. We stopped in to see if they had any brackets for an old model of a blind which we have and which was broken. Although this isn't in their business description, the owner went out of his way to hunt up a bracket that he turned out to have sitting around "just in case" and he sent us away with the bracket, plus an extra, at no charge. While there, we discovered they had several blinds that we were interested in. The owner happily put off his late lunch to give us an estimate, which turned out to be very reasonable. We hope to follow up and replace old blinds in our home with new ones from their establishment as soon as life allows. read more

This is a locally owned business (I think husband/wife). I needed my entire house fitted with blinds. They came to my house with some samples and then they took measurements. After that we went to the showroom which has an overwhelming number of choices. They were great about helping me narrow down my choices (I am not at all good at that type of thing). After a couple of hours the pick and choose process was done (again, this was for an entire home). I had a couple of odd sized windows so the delivery was about 2-3 weeks (I didn't want to have it installed in a piecemeal fashion). When all pieces were in we quickly set up an installation date. I was impressed how quickly they can install all those blinds! One blind had a slight factory defect and they were super quick to come out, evaluate and order a replacement. That piece was replaced within a week. The quality of the blinds are GREAT! The light blocking ones in the bedroom (which faces East) is a life/sleep saver. All the others look just right for the rooms in which they were placed. Prices were very fair (I did look at a couple of other places before here). PS They have the coolest remote controlled blinds in the showroom but the budget couldn't justify that purchase. Nonetheless, they're just plain cool. read more

This is a bit delayed, but I used Simply Custom to install blinds in my apartment last year. However, my experience really upset me and I would hate for someone else to go through what I did. It took the company 4 visits to install 8 blinds. Why you ask? Well the first time, they did not bring all 8 blinds, just 4. The second time, the person who was coming out made me wait for hours then called me with some weird excuse, saying that he spoke to my front door man and was told he could not park in front of my building. When I asked my front door man, he said that no one had even come by today. The third time they forgot all the remaining blinds; literally showed up to my place with nothing. The final time they came and installed and left a mess all over my floors. When I called Greg B. the man who works at Simply Custom to explain the difficulties, he was not understanding or apologetic at all. I literally wasted my Saturdays for these people to come and do nothing. I recommend you find a more reliable company. read more

I contacted Simply Custom in hopes that they could help me fix or replace the custom power unit for twelve motorized shades that had shorted out due to water damage. Although Simply Custom had not done the initial installation and the company listed on my power box was no longer in business, he did not let that deter him. He put me in touch with a manufacturer who could build a new power box for me, helped my find a qualified contractor who could install it, and followed up with me to make sure it was programmed correctly. So so so pleased with quality and timely manner in which product was delivered that I actually had to file a credit card dispute (same piece was re-made THREE times). I was told that I lost the dispute due to the fact that nowhere on my invoice did it specify the amount of time it would take to receive final product. I am in the process of completing a grievance with the Better Business Bureau. Just keep on driving and spare yourself time/money/aggravation. About a year ago we moved into a house around the corner from their previous location and were FINALLY getting around to replacing the window coverings. Greg took my call, and even though they seemed pretty busy Serena was at our house that afternoon. She stayed past 5 to help us think think through what we wanted, and was super friendly. When the particular blinds we wanted weren't available in kid-safe form (i.e., without the long strings that are a hazard), Serena called us back right away and helped us select an alternative we'd identified. The cost covered the installation, and the installation tech (Alex) got in touch with us pretty promptly on a Saturday. Alex installed the blinds well before the estimated two weeks and (like Serena) stayed past 5 to get the job done.
