Great bunch of guys and SUPER knowledgeable. If you really want to get into the nitty gritty of calibers and suppressors and crazy discussions then these guys have tons of info and love to chat and treat you like a long time friend. They aren't as cheap as online retailers of course but will never try to sell you outside your budget or skill level. I contacted this company because they were referred to me by the company that made grips for a gun I own. This companies price was cheaper than the manufacturers price and they had the items in stock or so they said. I ordered the parts online last night and called them this morning as I had gotten an email from them saying most all the parts are back ordered. When I called them the guy who I spoke with seemed to be bothered by my call. When I explained to him my frustration he didn't seem to care. He said "we didn't charge your card until this morning" Which was a lie as they charged my card twice today. Once for the price with all the parts and once for the price with the parts they actually had tying up my funds for days now. When he said that they didn't charge the card last night I called my bank. They assured me that they did and that if I canceled the order it would take 7-10 days to get my money back instead of 2 or so to get my credit back. To top this all off I got an email saying that I MUST sign for this item or pick it up at the UPS location 36 miles from my house. For what? Twenty dollars in parts. This is nuts. I called UPS and asked if they could change the signature required part and they said no due to the fact that the shipper AKA SWFA has "EXTREME" restrictions according to the UPS rep set up on their account. When I called they were closed. Who closes at 5pm on a Tuesday. I am extremely disappointed with this company and would never refer them. They have extremely poor communication, offered no credit for my troubles and I am now spending $30 in express shipping for product that I am only getting 25% of. So disappointed. read more

We love SWFA! When you walk into the store one of the employees greets you, and since my husband has done business with this company for years every time we make the drive here everyone is SO friendly and pleasant to chat with. He also says the new building is a vast improvement on the old location, and while I never saw where they used to operate out of I can believe it--this place is gorgeous! If the shop seems small compared to the building its because they operate their online store out of the warehouse in the back. I think this is also the main reason for their somewhat abbreviated hours of operation. Most recently we were here to offload some old optics, SWFA has always been more than fair on their quotes to sellers in my experience! They also have a great selection of ammo and a pretty impressive display of rifles, pistols, and pretty much anything you could need for either :) They even sell silencers, though the wait time is going to be pretty long to get the paperwork back on them (as with anything class 3 these days, no matter where you buy from). I have heard a lot about this place and have passed it many times going to work, and today I decided to stop and I was very impressed with the selection of weapons. The staff was very attentive and very helpful and offered their different opinions and explain whether or not they were biased towards a certain brand. One of the most important things to me about their customer service was that the employees looked you in the eye and carried on a good conversation and went out of the way to help and assist. Although these prices are not the cheapest but they are comparable with a lot of their competition and the selection at this location is awesome. My advice to my fellow gun enthusiasts is to check it out and get a good feel for the place and I would definitely go back and do more business with them. read more

I used to be a loyal customer of SWFA. However, after I and (on my recommendation) my son purchased 3 scopes from them, this has changed. SWFA "sold" us 3 SWFA Super Sniper scopes, that they never delivered. They took our money on November 30th, send us verified receipts, and tracking numbers for the shipments, The problem is, they never shipped them! WE had to call and see why the products did not ship. We were told "the warehouse is behind, due to the "great response from their Black Friday sale". This was understandable...for the first week. The second week were fed the same bullshit, we were told they were guaranteed to ship the second week...total bullshit lie! They dis not ship. Then we were told they would ship by the end of this week. Upon calling and asking why there was no movement, the order had not been picked up by UPS, we were told NOW that they were on back order until March!. SWFA purposely over sold inventory they did not have, issued receipts, and even UPS tracking info, even second day air service for my son's order in Utah. They did this to keep our funds in their system to float on our money for as long as possible. If you multiply this by even 1K orders that's about 300K in funds they used illegally in their bait and delay scam. Do not do business with this scam company. I was referred to SWFA by a friend, not having heard of them before I read about their glass and most people were satisfied with the product and cost. I'll admit fault, I ordered the wrong scope because I did it from my phone instead of a desktop... after receiving the wrong scope it took nearly six weeks of back and forth between emails to finally get someone that knew what they were doing to send me a PO return number. After returning the scope I get a call stating I'm being charged a $60 dollar restocking fee because the product was shipped back in it original packaging. Somewhere in there fine print it states you can't do this... okay, again my fault so I ask them to work with me on that price, $60 dollars to restock a $400 dollar scope, and I wasn't getting a refund, I was exchanging this scope for another SWFA scope. I ask what else could be done and I'm told if the restock wasn't paid they'll return my unwanted scope. WTH!!! I'm a big online shopper because I dislike people and hate crowds. This was the worst, worst customer service I've experienced. I'll never recommend them to anyone. One star only because you have to select at least one. read more

WOW WHERE DO I START! About two weeks ago, I decided to purchase my first rifle. I wanted to talk to as many people as possible and learn about the various types, designs and detailed overview. Then, I came across this guy TiborasaurusRex AKA Sniper 101. He put so much faith into the SWFA SS 10x42 and backed it up with facts. I wanted to research into it more. I went into forums and it was verified. SWFA Outdoors, your online reputation is immaculate. I've never been impressed more by a company backing up their product and even the level of customer service online (WOW)! Additionally, I want to thank Chris Farris for his help and assistance in picking out various parts for my New Remington Magpul 700 Rifle. I love to save a dollar and website hop but with the SWFA level of service, I decided to buy all my additional parts for my new rifle from SWFA.com and doubled my spend. By the way, they have some great prices. Chris was able to save me the headache of actually understanding what I was buying, consulted me on another scope option (i.e. making sure my turrets and reticle matched, which made so much sense) and even helping me match up my items. I have literally been telling everyone I have gun talk with to check out SWFA Scopes! Honestly I look for great service and in today's world, its hard to find. I went to SWFA Midlothian to purchase ammo. I found what I was looking for and took the ammo to the register area to pay. The man entered the product information into his computer and then told me he could not sell me the ammo because their entire stock had been purchased online. In my old fashioned way of thinking I believe that if a store's wares are on display at the store with price and other information shown then that product is available for purchase by the general public. Not so! He then went to the shelf where the product was located and removed all boxes of this ammo. A little late to do that I think. Bad way to do business! read more

Customer service is terrible!!!! I was in the market for the Mossberg Shockwave SPX. After searching Mossberg and Gallery of Guns I was referred to SFWA. Contacted SFWA to order, but the female customer service rep immediately informed me she was unable assist me due to the Shockwave SPX was unavailable and on back order. She acted as if she was unaware of Gallery of Guns and again said SWFA couldn't help me. What a great store! I was driving through town and just decided to pop in. I have never been in a gun shop like this. They had tons of great stuff. Very tactical oriented. The prices are great as well. I like how all their gear is out where you can pick it up and look at it. All the gear is top shelf name brand high end stuff but priced like you are buying it online on the cheap. They also carry a great variety of defensive and tactical ammo that most stores don't have. I'm in the process of moving to Ellis county and was looking for a local shop I could get behind. Based on first visit I hit the jackpot with this place. They didn't have all that I was looking for (90%) but in this industry nobody will. I was assured anything I would want they could get and I believe them. The selection and prices were great and ill be doing a lot of business here in the future. As I said, I only stopped in to look but the staff was so helpful i couldn't leave without at least pickng up some mags. I`ll be looking for excuses to get back soon. read more

Terrible customer service. Ordered a product on May 22nd and keep in mind the item was in stock. Waited about a week and didn't receive any news on shipping. I called and was told the warehouse where this product was coming from was delayed 10-15 days. So I waited once again and nothing. I called back and was told the warehouse was still delayed. So at this point it's been about a month and I call back to see what was going on and they decided to tell me that they don't have the product in stock anymore and don't know when they will be getting it back in stock. I cancelled my order. Sad part about this... is the manager didn't even bother to offer to help. All they did was upgrade my shipping, but what is that going to do when they don't even know when the product is coming back in stock. This is disappointing and I will never order from this place again. I DO NOT recommend ordering from here at all. read more

SWFA made easy money off me. Their customer service had good communication as they tried to tell me where my package is at. Says it shipped and delivered but I never received it. So I'm out $150. Had to drive 2 hours away and pay 189 for the same thing. Will not do business with them again. read more

These guys are great. I recently bought an expensive rifle and I had a local gunsmith mount my scope. The way it was mounted caused it to shoot way way too high. The gunsmith couldn't resolve the problem and the manufacturer of the rifle recommended that I got to SWFA. They are about an hour drive from me but it was worth it. The guys looked at the rifle and fixed the mount in about 30 minutes. These guys really know their stuff. The store is incredibly nice. The building is brand new and is very impressive. They have a great selection of guns, ammo and accessories. Their ammo is cheap also compared to bigger stores like cabelas or bass pro. They have a phenomenal selection of scopes as well. They have the full line up or swaroski, vortex, leupold, Nikon, etc on display. You can literally walk up to the displays and test them all out in one place. Begging for punishment.  Let me start by saying please go to SWFA and get your own opinion of this store. Then give them the review you think they deserve.  My review is one star. This is the second review. I was band from the store for my first one. I gave them this because as a small business I would think they would have some customer service so not to be put into the walmart's of the world. The owner band me because he didn't like what I wrote which was completely true.  I try to be fair with my reviews. So even though I think SWFA is has completely within their rights. Who does that? I'm 41 and just don't see a childish act like this doing any good for a small business. Good luck SWFA. I have to agree with Chris P.'s review, SWFA needs to re-train or fire their customer service department. I called this morning to order a scope rail and rings for my rifle, both were in stock. I was quite specific to in asking for Saturday delivery, and as I live in Texas also, this should have been entirely possible. When I received the tracking info this afternoon, it said scheduled for Monday delivery, I IMMEDIATELY called SWFA and oddly enough spoke to the same rep, instead of owning her mistake, she vehemently denied remembering me asking for Saturday delivery and once she found out that my package had already been picked up, seemed at that point to stop caring completely. I am a customer service manager, and there are always two things you do when you or an employee screws up, apologize and then offer some kind of compensation, even if it's a $10 gift card. I am beyond infuriated at this point, and plan on returning my package even if it means eating the cost of next day shipping. Beware of doing business with this company, perhaps email correspondence is best so they can't deny their mistakes. Good Luck dealing with them. read more

Attempted to make a simple ammo purchase and received an email that my cc had been declined and was asked to call them. Thinking maybe I had input something wrong, I placed the order a 2nd time. Nope, get a 2nd email saying my card had been declined. Being that I used this card for all my online purchases, I know that it works just fine. I decided to call them anyways and was told by the automated system that I was #1 in line and they would be with me shortly. After 15 minutes I decided to opt for leaving a message with my name, phone and order number. Well 48 hrs later I still had not received a call so I replied to the last email from customer service and informed them that I was unable to get through or get a response. Well 24 hrs later I get another email from customer service acknowledging my "request to cancel order"...... Thanks for the great customer service Kody Petty......who ever you are...lol read more
