Honestly great vibes if you're going for drinks. Jukebox plays an amazing playlist even without people intervention. But sadly that's where it ends. I ended up getting one of the restaurant favourites and some sides but was not impressed. Wings were very overdone, a couple were burnt. I didn't get any napkins for my wings. The French onion soup is very salty and there was alot of cheese. Presentation looks good but taste was sub-par. My favourite thing was the collards and cornbread. "I was hoping for better" is an understatement. We came in a small group of 5, which allowed us to try a couple things. If you come to Sweetwater Tavern, stick with the ribs and fries. I've come to this place twice as I wanted to give this place a second chance before I add my review. My first time at this place left me with mixed feelings as the food was fine, the service was friendly, but they mixed up our orders while waiting a long time for our food and they also happened to overcharged us. However, my experience was different this time. Just arriving to the restaurant, the host/waitress was very friendly and sat me down pretty quickly. I ordered their signature wings, which also came out pretty quickly. The wings were good. I love how the inside is juicy and tender while having a crispy skin . Although I feel they could probably use less salt. The waitress checked in on me to see how I was doing, which is already much better than my last experience where they sort of forgot about us until our food was ready. Overall I'm giving this place a higher rating as they have improved upon the basics. Maybe it was my luck as my experience was better or it may just be the restaurant naturally improving. read more

So, I can only preface this by saying: I can't speak for other people's experiences and I see a lot of bad bad bad reviews. I met up with a friend for lunch on a weekday afternoon and we were the only people there. The waitress was very friendly BUT she was much more focused playing with her phone behind the bar. I ordered a Cobb salad and my friend ordered a sandwich. We also decided to split an order of wings. It was early enough in the day that we were good with plain water. The wings were awful. Naked wings, even brined, were like licking a cube of salt. The one my friend bit into was cold, pink raw. Not undercooked. Hardly a sear or a crust. Mine was a charcoal briquette. Literally crumbled black carbon when I bit it. We Sent em back. The waitress wasn't surprised. My friend was not impressed with her sandwich but I was pleasantly surprised with my Cobb. Personally, I'm not sure how it took over an hour to prepare such basic pub staples, but whatever. Then came the bill. A lunch sandwich, a meal salad, two ice waters and wings that we sent back, $69.84 When I asked the waitress to double check the bill, she looked and just kinda nodded.....no "whoops, I double charged you". No "Oh I forgot to take the wings off" Nothing. I paid cash, and as we were walking out, it hit me. We arrived around noon. It was 2:30ish when we were leaving. This was a bright, warm autumn weekday. Not a single other person walked in or out of that place. Not one. During the busy weekday lunch rush. Not even a delivery order was picked up. Literally the rudest I've ever been treated by restaurant staff. I was warned that the service was bad by my Uber driver, but this was the only place open and they're threatening not to make my order because it's an hour until close and this is the second time I ordered it because the first time the Uber driver took it. read more

New to Flint and visited the Tavern after an event at the Capital Theatre. As soon as we entered, there was a smell of dirty seawater. The appetizer we ordered was drowning in bbq sauce and was terrible. Would not return or recommend! read more

I went yesterday. Ordered the ribs and chicken combo it's comes with two sides and I got Mac and cheese with a cheesecake. Let's start... I paid for flats they weren't all flats so when I mentioned it to the waiter he took my whole container to the back...(cross contamination) and then brought it back. No mind you the place is empty but fast forward to I got home started eating and the ribs were spoiled. When I called they told me no manager was available to talk and so I said it's empty in the building and your running the restaurant without a manager. Long story short I held and he finally got on the phone only to solve no problem no refund just said I'll take care of you I'll call you tomorrow. Wings were huge not good ribs were spoiled my salad was good cheesecake was amazing overall 2/10. I will never return . Customer service was poor and I spent 38 dollars and it was not worth it read more

Let me start out by saying the waitstaff was less than great, just adequate our server spilled my wife's Bloody Mary in my SILs lemonade and never acknowledged it, my wife's chips, which she sent back and when they came out, still underdone and that is when my fries came out, also underdone. Wife said her Catfish sandwich was very good and mr Daughters pizza was also very good, but those items are not their 'claim to fame, ' it's the chicken wings, which they claim are the best in Michigan......Nope, just average wings marinaded in a salt brine then doused in a hot sauce like Franks, they were a salty mess that even their overpriced drafts couldn't quench. We really wanted the place to be something that would bring people into Flint but unless there is a quick turn around I don't see it happening read more

First time here & service was awful. I'm a bartender and server myself so I don't like to complain and rather be understanding. Never checked on us, asked us if we needed anything, or were missing anything. Never refilled water. food was decent, Mac and cheese was cold and so were the fries. Just visited this past weekend and service was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Sat a long time waiting to get a server and then took over 30 minutes to get a draft beer.....were told they were "making it" which apparently consisted of a process of waiting for foam to disappear and refill over and over again. Were there about an hour and still never took our food order so we left. Noticed other tables that also got up and left. Will not go back again. read more

If you like Wings with heat, and little flavor, Sweetwater is your place, Definitely not the best wings in Michigan!
