We were greeted by a young gal who was so kind and generously shared the coupons that were currently available for their restaurant. Her customers service was A++. We ended up just splitting our meal which was a good idea because the meal was enormous. We still had to get a to go box to take our leftovers. While we were there waiting for our food, the owner came out to greet us. He was awesome, he shared some of his travel stories with us and then he brought us over some of their chicken strips (which we had to take home with us. We were so full). We tried him once we got home and they were once again amazing just like everything else that we had for dinner that night. This place is a must try restaurant and if we lived locally, we'd probably be there weekly.. Good luck Hippo's We wish you all the success in the world. You guys are amazing. I hope we get a chance to have a pizza from you before we leave and go back to Florida!!!

Over the past several months, the evening meals and service have been disappointing. The pita and bread were stale, and some waitresses seemed aloof and responded to concerns with a shrug or an attitude. The stir-fry used to come with nice-sized, bite-sized pieces of chicken. Now the chicken is sparse and often shredded or in tiny pieces. Breakfast and lunch may still be worth the drive, but based on my recent visits, the evening experience needs attention.

However when we left they were quite busy. What we liked: * The painkillers were good. And the beer was cold. *The bread served with dinner was warm, soft and had a sweet butter- honey maybe. * Chicken Marsala was good, can tell a sweeter Marsala is used. * service was very nice and attentive. What could of been better: * Their Tendies as they called them were dry and crisp, not a lot of flavor . Love handmade tenders, these weren't my favorite. * Old fashioned was average, not bad but didn't order another. Overall it was a nice night with friends, wish I could give it 3.5-3.75 stars but it just wasn't a 4 star experience. We will go back and try again

When I go to pick up the second half, I noticed there was something in it. It was a bread tag. I said to my friends, "um look what was in my sandwich " the waiter comes and they said to him "look what was in her sandwich." He was extremely nice and polite and said, "oh no! You are not paying for that." Took my plate away. The next thing we know here comes Alex, the kitchen manager, storming to the table callinge a liar and I put it in the food. So I brought a bread tag all the way from Lansing to the Soogy Bottom in Flint just to put it in a burger? That sounds ridiculous! I never even asked for my food to be comped. And the waiter even said, "no, they never asked. That was me." I didn't even expect it to be comped. I was planning on paying full price. Then he said, "good because you are. You are a liar." Then tried to say he never accused me. You just did, by saying I put it in my food to get my meal comped and called me a liar. It escalated into a extremely heated argument. He said, "I am a manager so it's my job to be a prick" umm no sir, that is NOT how a manager should act. I definitely can afford a sandwich and fries. He needs to be fired! That is extremely unprofessional!

The…read moresurprise, it is a tiny slice of a restaurant in a random gas station on your way in or out of town. This seems to be a franchise or chain from Texas making good burgers and shakes. While it first appears to be a little sketchy, the food is quality and delicious. We each had a burger. I have a bacon cheeseburger. It was so big, it did last until next day, and I always measure a burger in two ways, how does it taste first day and how does it taste next day. This burger was such high quality, it did not taste like a fast burger, it was restaurant style and quality. The fries as well. They seem to be Board Walk fry style and you can also get sweet potato. They portions were so big, we had to bring home four portions of fries since we all upgraded to a meal deal. You can get a shake with your meal instead of a soda, but they were more like concretes or blizzards, ready to eat with a spoon, so thick and delicious. I had the peanut butter cup with so many fat chunks of candy, it was exactly how I hoped it would taste. Yes, it was so good, I would drive back out here just to get a burger. I am not sure now far it is from me, maybe an hour? But I would drive an hour for this good of a burger. There was also a nice steady stream of customers, so you know others in the area must know how good this place is, a real hidden gem. If the company or franchiser is looking to expand in MI, we would love to see a location open up in Oakland County or the surrounding area. The people working here were very nice, helpful and friendly, but the woman manning the counter seemed very sick. She had a mask on and was coughing and sneezing. It would not be a problem, except she continuously took off her mask to talk to us and other customers, she took it off to cough and sneeze and wipe her nose on herself. It did not seem like proper food code and I am not sure if she washed her hands, and she did handle food, since she brought all bags and trays out to customers creating tons of cross contamination. I agree, some of us do need to work when we are not feeling well, but she could have and should have kept the mask on and frequently washed hands if she needed to touch or blow her nose. Other than that, it was perfect.

It's located inside the gas station at Bristol and Lennon near Miller Road and the airport, an easy stop with plenty of parking plus a Coffee Beanery and convenience store all in one spot. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, even pointing out the "secret menu" posted near the register (check the photos). Service felt welcoming right from the start. The fries were fresh-cut with skins on, creamy inside with a light crisp outside. I personally would've liked them cooked just a touch longer, but flavor-wise they were solid. Portions are generous across the board. I ordered the double bacon burger and it was loaded with meat, definitely not a skimpy fast-casual burger. The potato bun tasted great but had a hard time containing everything. Bacon was nicely cooked, and the real standout was the Mooyah sauce, closer to a yum yum-style sauce than a traditional burger spread. The shakes were thick and creamy without being overly sweet, and the fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies were a great surprise. Only minor downside was waiting about 10 minutes for a takeout box since they were kept in the kitchen while staff managed orders up front. Overall, great value, big portions, and a strong first impression for a new Flint location. I'd absolutely come back, though next time I'd stick with a single burger since the portions are more than enough. PS. Don't forget to sign up for the rewards program for free stuff.
