What could of been better: * Their Tendies as they called them were dry and crisp, not a lot of flavor . They were two smaller, hand rolled fried shells filled with exceptionally well seasoned ground beef. There was a layer of queso underneath and a little sauce on top, which brought everything together. They were delicious. The beans and rice were standard sides. Not standout items, but not bad either. The chips seemed store bought, and the salsa was fresh but mild with very little heat. Overall, I would definitely go back. I've been wanting to try this bakery for a few months, but only got around to it last week. Clearly, I'm glad I finally did! It was well worth the little side trip out to Flushing! We purchased a freshly baked French baguette, some cinnamon rolls, coffee cake and a few cookies during our visit. My husband, who knows how to make traditional French bread from scratch and definitely is knowledgeable about conventional baking techniques, etc, was quite impressed with the bread. It was authentic, had a nice texture and the proper type of crust and was truly delicious. We both loved the homemade cookies, peanut butter becoming my favorite. The cookies were so warm and moist and tasted fresh from the oven. I can't bake cookies this nice. Im a Tollhouse cookie dough kinda girl. Just kidding, sorta! Anyway, they were great! My husband had a cinnamon roll that he rather enjoyed and he's kinda picky about cinnamon rolls, so that's saying something right there! I liked the texture of the coffee cake I ordered. It was delicious, moist and appeared freshly-made. I was disappointed they were out of scones, though I hope they'll have some fresh-baked ones when we stop in again next time. Other than the aforementioned items, they sell custom cakes (they looked awesome and start at $25 per cake, with different designs commanding higher prices), muffins, lemon pound cake, coffee, plus deli cheeses, pickles, dips, and meats from Boar's Head. Homeboy BBQ is the best food in town. Reopened in October after closing for three months due to a real estate dispute. They have huge portions and very fair prices. The family meal they advertise for a family of 4 will feed 6-8 people. The corn bread can be ordered like Moms or with pineapple in it and is always very moist. I'm not a big fan of cole slaw, but theirs is very good and also has bits of pineapple in it. It is great on a pulled pork sandwich. All the deserts such as apple pie and brownies are made from scratch each day. The chicken breast are huge - I always wonder where in the heck they find such big ones. The cooler is stocked with pop from my youth - brands you never see in stores much less a take out joint. I ran a golf outing for many years and always used Homeboys for the dinner which was always a big hit with the golfers. We would have 125 people to feed and I would order for 75 and still have a ton of food left over. Cash only. read more

Wow, down home delicious barbeque and plenty of it. The meats (ribs, chicken, brisket) are fantastic: well done with just right sauce. That seems to be a given every single time. It ranks up there with any barbeque anywhere. The sides are great. The cornbread is the best I've eaten. The salads are differnt and really good, too. There are a variety of sides to choose from. But, GET THE BROWNIES for dessert! Fudgy, huge, and heavenly. Really good stuff. Pretty much only takeout. If you have a crowd to feed, this is the way to go. Your guests willl think you are the best and will eat it all so save some for yourself for tomorrow. read more

I just recently found this place. Absolutely a hidden gem. I don't think I've ever had brisket that was so good before. Juicy, sweet and delicious. The ribs, pulled pork and chicken were amazing also. Not only was the food excellent, but the staff was super friendly and made you feel very welcome. I can see myself coming back here fairly often--I'm definitely recommending this place to my family and friends that visit us in the Flushing area. The couple of bad reviews surprised me. The best BBQ around, bar none. The hours aren't messed up, it's a small family owned BBQ, the hours are 11-8 Weds-Sat... I personally don't find that too hard to remember? Portions are huge.
