Great food, great service, a hidden gem, way out of our way but worth the trip everytime

Went in for pizza with the family. After a 15 minute wait for service we ordered. 45 minutes later still no food so we inquired casually about the wait. After an hour the manager delivered the pizza stating (very offensively) that we should not expect a pizza in less than an hour, and that we should be aware of that as they had seen me there before. While I had been there before, never had the pizza. Was always the guy leaving a $10 tip on a $20 tab just to show respect to the waitstaff working hard. Unfortunately the respect does not seem to extend to the customer. Doesn't seem right berating the customer because you can't provide your food in a timely manor and then giving them attitude. Can honestly say I have never been treated worse at a restaraunt. Won't be going back!!! read more

NO WI-FI? I see free wi-fi is offered in the amenities but when I asked the bartender for the password she laughed at me and said "her boss wouldn't share the password, not even with her". Wasn't great service took a while and the food wasn't great and I wish it could have been better

Not a good experience at all. Staff was so rude. Restaurant is old and filthy, smelled awful...finished our drink and left. Wasn't expecting anything fancy, it's a dive bar kind of place, but it definitely needs some tic. read more

Ok I'm now what I would consider a regular here since I started coming last year because my summer home is nearby. The food is consistently very good. It's better than bar food. Great dinner salad, specials almost every day. Tonight I had the butterfly shrimp. It came hot, very crispy and perfectly prepared. I chose clam chowder, and like all their soups, excellent. The potato was a bit overdone but ok, and my hubby had Stromboli. It was amazing. Huge portion and they do not skimp on the filling. The wait staff are very friendly and unlike one reviewer, I did not find them lazy! Katie is a great bartender, and Dora my favorite server. You won't get a lot of people reviewing this place, they aren't the Smartphone type here, so take my word for it, it's worth a visit to this fun "hole in the wall" place. read more

I used to frequent this place regularly when I lived close by. I had forgotten just how great the pizza was.. My wife was extremely pleased as they were able to grant her request for ranch dressing on her pizza rather than the normal pizza sauce. The quality of the ingredients was excellent and the crust was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is definitely a local dive bar feel, but the menu is very large and the service was friendly. Drink prices seemed reasonable also. We had the hickory breadsticks which were the cheapest appetizer on the menu and HUGE! They may have taken a little while to come out, but they were very tasty and worth the wait. Our group also had a burger, walleye and butterflied shrimp meals. Very large portions (everyone took home leftovers) and we each enjoyed our meals. I'm told the coconut shrimp is very good, but a special and not available all the time & I wasn't lucky to catch it on this visit. I'll be back again to try it though! read more

Amazing burgers and pizza. Cold beer and a great staff. We love to play keno and pull tabs, it closes to home. I've even taken the grand kids its a friendly place. Eat in or take out. Can't wait for the queen of Michigan to open up the bars and restaurants. read more

It's not much to look at from the outside but this place has been a mainstay for our area for it seems like forever. The food is really good and priced right. We eat there often and have nothing bad to report. Just great food and drinks. And the pizzas are huge for the price. And the staff is very friendly.I would highly recommend this place. read more

Wait staff didn't clear table , ordered coffee told it had to be made but it was cold when we got it and mozzarella sticks were over cooked and we ordered chips and cheese , we were told they had no chips but when we got the bill they where on there. There are lots of reviews that recommend the pizza. They aren't wrong. We ordered the Hickory, which is a supreme style. In the mean time while we waited, we enjoyed the incredibly cheap beer specials. It took longer than normal for your typical supreme pizza. When they brought it out we completely understood. So many toppings heaped on you could not see the cheese. Oh, and there was plenty of cheese under those toppings! It takes a while to get it all to bake it is so thick. This is one of the best places for pizza in Michigan. Wait staff was friendly and fun to talk to. read more

I love a good dive bar, but it's usually because their service is fun. At the Old Hick, the service is just lazy. The food is good, and the trivia is fun on Sundays, but I got stuck with the same lazy server twice. read more

Good food for a dive. Downside is nasty bathroom, odd characters, a bit of a drive. Younger crowd nightlife on Thursdays with awful karaoke.

Old Hickory Burger with a cold beer. Adequate and simple. Dive bar feel with more seats than you would expect. Let's be honest, you don't go to the Old Hickory for fine dining, you go to drink cold beer, eat a greasy cheeseburger and a pile of fries, all while watching the locals stare at every unfamiliar face that walks in the door. read more

The waitress was nice. The food was great except that it took over an hour to fry 3 hamburgers and it took a few tries to get the toppings to order. 5 cars total in the lot and I think 5 people total in for food. You could die of starvation. read more
