    Our family enjoying Sweets!
    Ashley H.

01-Jul-2023 We stopped in for a handmade sweet treat for our 4 boys and were not disappointed. If you are in Truckee, CA and want a delicious chocolate treat then this is the place for you to check out!! They also have amazing samples available.

Such a cute shop! I didn't try anything but everyone in my large group had a treat and absolutely enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and explained what everything was. I had just eaten but really wanted to try a Carmel Apple, they looked delicious. Instead, I took in the different scents and wished I wasn't so stuffed. I'd definitely try something if I went back.

Our family absolutely love their fudge. Tahoe Turtle is the favorite! The Carmel apples (ours didn't make it home for a picture). The Carmel is delightful. We got the peanut brittle today for the first time, and it didn't disappoint. Every time we are in Truckee this is a must for us! The service is always great and it is such a cute store.

Sweets Handmade Candies is a cute little candy shop located in the heart of downtown Truckee. As you walk near the candy shop, you can smell the aroma of homemade candy being made and it just draws you in. As you walk in the employees greet you right away and you feel welcomed. There's shelves of different types of handmade candy bagged up and ready for purchase and there's also a counter area of assorted candy, fudge, and other goodies ready for the taking. We purchased a bag of cashew brittle, caramellows (soft caramel and marshmallow), caramel corn and we got a piece of white chocolate and peanut covered toffee. The cashew brittle was crunchy goodness and melts in your mouth. The caramellows were soft and chewy and were a definite favorite out of the bunch. I just wanted to keep eating them. The caramel corn was fresh and had pecans mixed in which made for a great taste and crunch. The white chocolate and peanut covered toffee was good but nothing amazing. Overall the experience at Sweets was good. The only inconvenience was the employees kept pushing us through the candy shop. Customers enter through one side and exit the other and as we were looking and deciding on which candy to purchase, the employees kept asking us to keep moving through. A little advice to the employees....when you have customers who are spending over $50 in candy, give them a few minutes to decide. We would have purchased more, but because of the pushiness, we just bought we we had in our hands. Until next time my fellow Yelpers.....stay hungry my friends!

I was headed for Carson City, so I swung by. While I was there, I also got some of their amazing chocolates again. The lady was very nice, same as last time, and I asked for a sample of the jalapeño brittle. I took a bite, and. *WOW......* that stuff is "jalapeño business." :). It definitely has a kick to it. It's on the upper end of what I like for spicy, but I really enjoyed it a lot. The heat takes a couple of seconds to kick in, and then The sweetness of the brittle helps temper it a bit. I bought a bag, which should last me for quite a while, but when I'm ready for another, hopefully they will still carry it. Definitely worth trying. Thank you

They offer a huge selection of candies to choose from, also fudge and ice creams. Whenever I'm out and spot a jar of honey I must purchase it!? So yes, I got a jar of their local raw honey, it's divine! We were given multiple free samples, because who turns down free chocolate;) They were so kind and answered all of our questions. Everything we tried was so so good! The dark chocolate sea salt caramels behind the glass were my personal favorite!! Their peanut butter cups are made in house, so good! Even the malt balls were bomb! I'm not even a malt ball kind of gal but they are triple dipped in dark chocolate and oh so delightful! We bought our weight in chocolate today, I'm not even a little bit ashamed of it. Even though this business is a bit out of the way from Reno, we had such a wonderful experience we will absolutely be returning for more chocolate! I'm sad I've waited so long before trying this place.

We sat down and ordered the tea we liked. We each got to choose our own tea and was told we could try as many as we want. I liked the pacing; I was able to have a long conversation with my friend without feeling rushed and no interruptions. Everything that came out was delicious. The scone was a little too flaky, in my opinion, but was still very tasty. It didn't look like a lot of food, but we were both very satisfied. I am definitely going to bring my Mom back for this. Also, the mini cakes here (not included in high tea) are absolutely gorgeous. They are not too sweet, and remind me of what I used to get at cafes in Japan. My favorite that I've tried so far is the blueberry cake. I love them all though. Can't wait to try more!

It doesnt seem like they'll seat you early, so show up just a few minutes before your reservation. I think there is adequate parking out front as its in a shopping center. They brought out our tea first. We ordered the breakfast blend, which was a loose leafed tea. It was fine. It is all served in smaller tea cups, so fellas, pinkies out! There is a picture of the food we were served, and everything tasted really good! Even the stuff that didn't match our taste preferences. It looks like they have a different menu of food items each month. Note that they will not make substitutions to the food that is being served unless you have a food allergy. In addition to afternoon tea, they also have coffee, desserts, and gelato that can be purchased. We were so full that we didn't take any extra sweets home with us. Sophie was our server and was super friendly and offered to answer any questions we had. For the price, and the quality of food, I'd come back for the regular afternoon tea.
