    Salted toffee

I love chocolate so it was such a delight to see a little chocolate shop in this little town!! They have a huge array of chocolate--all homemade. I got the sea salt dark chocolate toffee. This was chewy and had the perfect amount of salt on top. I love sea salt chocolate. Great flavor combo! I was planning to take chocolate home but I ended up eating it along the way. The pecan turtle was delicious as well. Creamy--chewy--chocolatey. Amazing!

A Tiny Mom and Pop Chocolate Shop in the Victorian Village of Ferndale. They've been making treats by hand at this location since I was a little girl (and probably well before that). Of all the things that have changed and moved on in this tiny town, I am happy to say Sweetness and Light is still there. I had to stop in for once last sweet treat before saying goodbye to Humboldt!

Old time candy store with cheap prices. The lady that runs this shop has been around forever and so has some of her candy.

We tried a dark chocolate truffle & a moo bar. Good flavor & texture. Better than most candy factories.

Spent most of the tour hearing from the owner about how his workers kiss every one of your beans that come from plantations where even bullets were found in the beans the workers sort in the factory. Not once did he talk about the exploitation cocoa farms have for children in the country of origin, inclu ding child slavery or slavery amongst adults, nor the companies commitment to working with farmers who practice ethical trade. That lack of emphasis of the dialogue regarding human rights leads me to believe that acknowledging humans rights isn't something this company has even with their own workers. A bunch of people come in for a tour and the cafe workers who are pretty new to the front area have to be in charge of seeing about 15- 30 different orders with in 5 minutes and the front stage who makes below minimum of the cost of living has to be left felling supported? I wonder if all the staff working for you have even been on a sailboat or own one? It's on your logo after all. Or is it a simple nod to the slave trade being the reasons you are a millionaire? I think it would be amazing if this company could make products that do not include slavery or mistreatment of workers.
