The attendant was rude and unhelpful when we asked about their recommendations. She seemed snappy and literally walked away before we left after we paid. The previous customer she was nice to and laughing with but with my boyfriend and I she changed up. Plus the chocolate ended us being whatever. I would not recommend going and fudge is not worth it. read more

I love chocolate so it was such a delight to see a little chocolate shop in this little town!! They have a huge array of chocolate--all homemade. I got the sea salt dark chocolate toffee. This was chewy and had the perfect amount of salt on top. I love sea salt chocolate. Great flavor combo! I was planning to take chocolate home but I ended up eating it along the way. Best chocolate shop I've ever visited! My family and I vacationed in the Ferndale area recently and stopped by the chocolate shop nearly every day. We loved their chocolates that much. I really love the Salted Lavender Caramel and the mini moo bars--Even the large Moo Bars are great, but the Mini-Moo's are the ultimate! I'm a big fan of their truffles, especially Amaretto and Chocolate Mousse in dark chocolate. Since moving away from Humboldt County I haven't had any for a few years, partly because I keep forgetting to order them from their web site during the cooler months. But this year I remembered and wasn't disappointed. Not only are they delicious but they also arrived really quickly, like in two days after I ordered them. That's probably partly due to only going from Ferndale to Oakland, but still it was during the holiday supply chain slowdown, so I was really impressed. There are a lot of choices on their website so you can probably find plenty that you would like. And, unless things have changed a lot since I moved, there are a lot more choices if you go to the shop in person. This is high-quality hand made candy, so it's more expensive than what you'd find at a grocery store, but it's worth it, even if only for an occasional treat. read more

Love this place! The chocolate wafting through the air lifts me off my feet (and that's a chore, lemmetellya) and into the store with barely a notice on my part. And the chocolate, lawd, the chocolate. Well, I couldn't help myself and bought a few of the truffles - Grand Marnier, Kahlua, Irish Cream and Amaretto. Three out of four were in the dark chocolate variety. Plus two wee candies for my wee girl. Sigh. Melt-in-your-mouth yummy goodness that cannot be found anywhere else. The hubster refuses to share a truffle, so we each had one. Ok, whatever, I had two. He had one. The kid snuffled up one before we knew what was happening and fell in love. I know that their candy used to be MUCH better. Their store used to be MUCH cleaner. The service used to be MUCH nicer. I have been going here since I was a child. We used to get all of our candy from them and since it changed ownership, we have just forgotten about them. I will say that the Moo Moo Bars are amazing. Great place to get awesome chocolate!! This place is great to get chocolate at a reasonable price. I got an assortment of chocolates in one of their tins. I didn't know if I would like the honeycomb or the smaller moo bar. When I finally tasted it I regret not getting more. The marshmallow was light and fluffy, not to sticky. The honeycomb was crunchy caramel like, dipped in chocolate. The only thing I wish they had, were a more variety of kinds of tins they had. They had plain ones, and ones with a women on the front. I try to shy away from writing bad reviews but I just can't help myself in this circumstance. I walked into the store and there was no one behind the counter. I looked around and was appalled by their inventory. They literally didn't have any candy! They did however have some overly priced hand made signs that a 5 year old could make. I got fed up with standing around and waiting to be waited on. I even yelled hello 3 times! I ended up leaving empty handed. It really seems like they don't want the business? I wish I could give this place a better review for its coffee & espresso since its so quaint and has a cute street window. I ordered a latte. The wait was long. I ultimately dumped it out without drinking it (very bad taste). The coffee girl was so sweet, but it just wasn't up to par with even a mediocre latte (and I'm not too snobby with food). My boyfriend did not drink his iced americano either. While waiting, I was able to go into the candy shoppe (attached but next door) and this place is redeemed in my heart. I found the moo bar and chocolate-covered oreos worth the visit! Definitely buy their candy; find coffee/espresso elsewhere though. read more

Why didn't I read the reviews first? I would have gotten a Moobar. Well, there is always another time. Dragged my sweetie into the chocolate smelling shop, but he was anxious to go spread anarchy to the good folks of Ferndale. So I stood and contemplated flavors while the nice person in front of me loaded up on nougats of all sorts. "Nougat fancier" I observed. She did not say, as my daughter would have "thank you Captain Obvious" for which I was grateful. Settled on some creams, three each of Buttermilk, Apricot Brandy, and..one other, oh, what was it? Something enticing. Raspberry, perhaps. I figured my partner and my kid and I would try one of each and enjoy the delicious flavors. Passed up the Victorian creams because walnuts didn't seem to be what was needed at that moment. Stupidly passed up the honeycomb. What was I thinking? My nice delicious chocolates came to around 9 dollars. (they are sold by the pound, and a pound is a bit over 21 dollars) A worthy luxury. We are very carefully savouring them (I hid the bag! Yes I did). Thus far I can assure you the buttermilk ones are truly wonderful. read more

We ordered about 200 of Sal's salted chocolate truffles for our daughter's wedding in June. They were a tremendous success! Everyone loved them and I cannot stop thinking about ordering more. Moo. This is the only place to get moo bars, which are one of the best candy concoctions ever. You can also see all the truffles being made in the tiny side shop as well. Buying anything other than chocolate here is probably a waste of money and taste buds. read more

I have to agree with a previous recent review about the poor customer service. I went into the store on the morning of August 23rd. I'm not sure who was working the front of store, but I would doubt it was the owner because I wouldn't expect the owner of a store who actually wants to make a profit to be this rude to customers. Whoever it was, they were of no help, and generally annoyed about having to answer questions or do any work. I felt as if they wanted me out of the store as quickly as possible. I selected a variety of chocolates without asking any further questions for fear of further annoying the worker and left. The chocolates were delicious, but I would suggest finding a new employee if you'd like repeat customers. read more

It's no Godiva, but this place has decent chocolates for a small town chocolaterie. We had their version of a peanut butter cup, which was a little creamier than the ones you buy in a store. They have "yertles" instead of "turtles," and a concoction with layers of nuts, caramel, and marshmallow, called "moo bars," which tasted like it had been made just 2 hours before we got there.
