This place made my day! The owner is a such a kind and friendly man spreading joy to all who visit his establishment. Plus the coffee is sooooo good! Nothing like waking up on a cold camping morning to get a delicious, strong espresso! I also picked up an awesome sweatshirt. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I think those are probably a reflection of the customers attitude towards life and not of the owner of this shop because I found him to be a bright light in my day! read more

So happy to spot this coffee shop as we were leaving our camping spot at Giant Redwoods RV. Right next to the market (which is also nice). My husband and I each ordered an Americano. Yumm! Well sorry to interrupt your day, sir! It took him several minutes to stop chatting with his friends outside to bother to walk in to serve us. He seemed very annoyed that customers showed up. When my GF asked in her typical sweet demeanor for a cappuccino with oat milk, he tersely responded, "No." He added, "It doesn't foam right." My GF who in fact is a skilled barista knew that was nonsense and could show anyone how to do it. He begrudgingly prepared it anyway and GF reported it was awful. My regular latte was on the bitter side... yes, like the server. He also had some kind of leafed twig sticking out of his hair. Not sure about the sanitation of that. The prices were more San Francisco than typical north coast ones. You're not getting what you're paying for here. In terms of a business model they seem to really want to sell their merch and the coffee is just an afterthought. If you're in the area and need coffee, try Sips in Miranda or Jitter Bean in Fortuna for attitude-free service and better product. read more

An adorable roadside stop in Myers Flat with good tasting cappuccino. I wish I ordered a large cup for the road. The taste is not watered down unlike some big corporate coffee shop. The place is cute with Knick knacks. I bought a small guitar-shaped spoon for my raw sugar at home. The girl who helped us said they get their fresh grinds every morning. I believe it. In California for visiting the Redwoods and was in dire need for coffee. stopped in this quaint little store, was greeted with a terse hello and then man went about his business. figured he was busy so I took my sweet time deciding what I wanted then waited, and waited....and waited. as if I were not even there, he continued doing whatever was more important than waiting on me. Unsure if it was because I am a biker, a woman, or both. The gentleman behind me received excellent service and conversation. I walked out without coffee or spending my money. read more

Read other negative reviews, but decided to stop by anyway for our caffeine fix. We didn't encounter the surly barista; rather we were greeted by a nice young lady who was nothing but pleasant. I ordered green tea and JL ordered his standard chai latte. Both came out piping hot, which worked out well for our trek on the road. The walls were also loaded with lots of knick knacks and funny signs. On the downside, there aren't any restrooms, no WiFi, and it's cash only. Boo! You still have the option of buying something at the market next door and getting cash back. Plus, you get to people watch folks coming in from the campsite next door. This is honestly my favorite coffee shop in California. I visit here every time I make a trip up the coast, and it always brings back warm memories from visiting it over the years. Sluggish mornings camping, and some hot coffee to brush off the post-sleeping-bag chills. The coffee is excellent, and I always buy a bag for home - and I'm the worst kind of coffee snob, so it's a rarity to find a cup of joe that I actually really love. From the mouth of my boyfriend, they also have the best chai latte he's ever had (and he's had a LOT of them, as we make frequent road trips). It's a great little spot, and has been a wonderful experience each time I've been. read more

I read the reviews. But I wanted coffee so I stopped. A poor music system made it very difficult to hear what the guy behind the counter was saying but it was clear that he wasn't happy. Yes, he points at the cups. Most people would simply ask what size the customer wants. Not this guy. The flavor of the coffee was quite good. Sadly, it was tepid. Worst service ever . Owner was cussing someone on the phone as I walked in . When he finally got off the phone he turned his anger towards me as I was ordering my drinks. The owner proceeded to berate me as I was waiting for my injured wife to arrive. Ridiculous way to treat an innocent customer. This is an odd little coffee shop filled with knick knacks. Its walls are plastered with ephemera that includes t-shirts made specifically for the shop (presumably for sale). It has the crunchy look of a hippie espresso stop but with no room to sit. On the outside of the front door was a notice that due to countywide mandate masks were required while inside. As my wife and I entered we saw that only one of three people in the shop followed the mandate--and it wasn't the only one working there. The unmasked barista (bearded and looking to be in his late-40's) was in the middle of a conversation with two other locals. When he noticed us a look of annoyance flashed across his face and he quickly put on a mask and signaled the other two men to leave. I asked for a latte. The barista sighed and began to prep their machine. I took a second to look at all the posters, frames, and knick knacks lining the walls. The sole table was accompanied by no chairs, only an early 2000's square screen Sony laptop that was blaring out a bizarre Euro-club rave cover of the 70's song "How Long". My wife nudged me, I looked up to see the barista hunched and staring intently at the sample cups lined across the shop's counter. "Oh I'm sorry, I'll take a large please." It was an innocent mistake. Not quite sure why the barista thought that staring would be the most effective way to communicate here. He didn't seem to have any trouble talking to his two friends as as my wife and entered the shop. He finished making the drink and we left. He followed us out and then continued conversation with his buddies that were waiting outside. The latte itself wasn't anything to write home about. It was a bit bitter but so was the person that made it. I'm sure if you've read this far you probably pick up that I don't recommend this place. If you know anywhere else to stop in the area go there instead. I wouldn't have stopped at this middle of nowhere cafe if I wasn't sorely in need of a caffeine boost and unsure how far off the closest convenience store would be. My love Michael enjoyed his zesty little conception of coffee ice cream and coffee and whipped cream and I liked my iced mocha as well as the Australian Bites which were healthy and yummy. Nice little pit stop! Love the vibe of the place and the owners were great. We were totally vibing with their reggae music and just chatting with them. Cute little place. I got a smoothie and he had to go next door to get the fruit but he did it no problem and it was delicious! I definitely recommend coming here unless you are in a hurry. read more

I asked for a blended mint with 4 shots. They only provide 20oz for cold drinks so I said ok that's fine. She blended it and handed me one drink and said since you're paying for 4 shots I'm going to give you the rest of what's in the blender. And it was another 20oz drink. The drink was airy, foamy, separated and I was like, well I can't walk around and ride my bike with 2 drinks and I can't drink 40oz so I asked if she could remake it into an iced drink since it didn't turn out. And she was like "that was what you ordered and Nobody asked you to walk in here." Excuse me I wasn't even rude. I just asked for a remake because the drink was horrible and was not what I ordered. While still reading their menu, the owner looked at us annoyed and said "I'm not a mind a reader as he was pointing at the drink sizes." I was very disappointed at his rudeness and left. Pictographic little coffee shop in the middle of nowhere. I was going to start bitching about something when I noticed the small sign hanging behind the counter: "$5 Charge for Whining." So I quickly shut the f*ck up! I thought it was just me or maybe the guy behind the counter was having a bad day but after reading some of the reviews....nah, that's the 'ed debevik's' charm (or lack of it) of this place. Short little snip of our conversation: After entering and realizing that reading all the different mocha/latte/crapo flavors they had listed on their blackboard was starting to give me a headache I said: "Do you have iced-coffee?" Drove through with my in-laws recently and stopped here for something warm to drink. Immediately picked up on this man's dour attitude towards patrons, which I initially sympathized with considering he probably does get nothing but "do you have a bathroom?" dipshits in there non-stop (there's a giant sign that says they don't). So, I tried to be quick and gave him a mighty tip. He went on to snap at my mother in-law when her order wasn't specific enough, and when my father in-law told him to have a good day he barked "don't tell me what to do!" That noted, I found the tea and coffee to be well-prepared and of fine quality. I saw some people complaining about prices here, but I felt the prices were cheap considering it's all organic and you're in the middle of nowhere. If you can calmly handle being condescended to, get your drink then drive away. read more

Excellent coffee and tea in the middle of the Redwood Forest! After a second night of camping (this time I slept in the back of a Honda Accord...) coffee was REALLY in order. We found this cute shop on the way back to the highway. The coffee was great - but the owner/barista was very crabby. I've never experienced someone so put-off by making coffee (that is if they own the shop!). On our way back to the campsite we stopped to ask the Ranger a question - she noticed the coffee and asked if the owner had been rude to us. She wanted to make sure it wasn't just HER that was on his bad side! We paid over $10 for four delicious drinks. read more

Unlike Lauren's review, I do not agree that one has to be extra polite or nice to the barista in order to be spared of a bad attitude!! My boyfriend and I just stopped at Daily Grind for a coffee before hiking and the barista - a late 40 year old man with horrible energy and attitude - served us. He clearly did not have his morning coffee - when I asked how long the shop had been in business for he replied "8am," so I repeated my question and he rudely said "18 years" with plenty of 'tude. If his coffee was decent, perhaps I could overlook his negativity, but both the latte and Americano we ordered were well below average. Every other contact we've had with servers in this area has been lovely, minus our experience with the bitter barista at the Daily Grind. Please, do yourself a favor, drive the extra mile or so and get a coffee somewhere else where they will appreciate your business. read more

Great coffee, the staff was great (kind female college student.) Fun stuff to look at and puzzles to do while they make your coffee or tea drink. TOTALLY worth stopping at. We made this our daily stop for real coffee while camping in the area. Also, the barista gave us super advice on local attractions. I am updating my earlier review and am making it 5 stars now. I had friends visiting from Germany in August and we took them up to the Big Trees and of course we had to come by and visit the Daily Grind. We got there and Jerry was sitting outside ready to leave. He recognized us right away and smiled (yes he DID smile). He remembered that we were from Marin etc. and asked us if we wanted something to drink. He opened the shop especially for us without attitude etc - so YES he can be a very nice and pleasant person, as we had already previously mentioned. He made us our drinks and this time my Mocha was perfect - temperature and all! Oh and by the way - my girlfriend had to use the bathroom and he did tell us about the $500.000 bathrooms at the visitor center just down the road - and so off we went to enjoy a very pleasant pee in the new state of the art bathrooms just down the road... read more

Coffee is the best on the Avenue. My husband and I were craving their iced mocha this morning. Service is wonderful and loved how there was a mix of locals and tourists and everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks. Prices were comparable to any large chain, yet the coffee is of much higher quality. If you want cheaper coffee, drive about 45 minutes north to Fortuna and I am sure that McDonalds can accommodate you. read more

I'm a local and pray for the day anyone else takes over the daily grind and the market next door. I stumbled across these reviews and must chime in--- "Rude Owner" is no understatement. And sketchiest set up (where DOES the ice and water come from..??) Why is there an overwhelming (toxic) stench of bleach? And why, for the love of God is the chai half fermented and our beverages created lukewarm? I've tried.. i swear I want this place to be amazing. I'm a caffeine addict..i luv grab and go healthy snacks, i probably spent 10-25$ day on my Mocha breves and snacky snacks on a busy day , sometimes I pass thru Myers flat 2 or 3 times in one day in my travels and work near my home. Yet not one dime do.i drop there . I never, since the last rotten chai and grumpy face Jessie day, have set foot in that "cafe." It has Flavors or the giddyup in gville, or Sips in Miranda as mighty fine role models in our area. They could aspire to that quality and vibe and do amazingly well. But no... Oh and don't get me started on the market next door.. Where is the food??? I literally have begun to do my 140 $ weekly shop at the giant new mkt /gas station in Miranda ( rather than commute to garberville,) and I could easily grab a portion or ALL of those items in Myers flat as I live very close. But I can't because that mkt has an extremely limited supply of hugely overpriced inventory. . I will go in when I have no other option, and get out as quickly as possible before I am overcome by bleach fumes.. And who runs a beverage store with no bathroom?? That's the rudest thing. They could have created an amazing experience and service there, and a venerable *money machine* in that quaint location right on the Avenue of the Giants but too many factors are working against that possibility. Passed through last week on the way back home. I was pleasantly surprised to find an open coffee shop , and the man (who I am guessing is Jessie based on reviews) brewing coffee was absolutely terrific. I've worked in food service and coffee shops aplenty, and it can be pleasant, but mostly it sucks dealing with entitled idiots who think their shit doesn't stink. As soon as I sensed a little of his snark, it warmed my heart. A fellow food/coffee aficionado who doesn't take shit from shitty customers just so he can make more money. He woulda stayed in the city if he wanted that life! If you don't like Jessie and his wonderfully eclectic little coffee shop take your yuppy ass to starsucks and shove it. All I can say is stay away from this place. The old man behind the counter acts like a complete idiot to everyone who walks through the door. From his unkept appearance and the looks of the coffee shop neither have been cleaned anytime lately. He's nasty and so was his coffee. From the looks of his midsection his inflated prices have allowed him frequent trips to the table. So, Mr. coffee Shop owner here's my advice...put the fork down and dust off your old Jane Fonda exercise tape. The exercise will help w your attitude ! Look better, feel better big guy! read more
