I've been to plenty of Sweetgreen locations and this one happens to be one of my favorites. The customer service is immaculate especially when I ask questions or ask for modifications with my order. The staff always reminds me to scan my app before checking out so I can collect points and ask how I would like my order packaged (to go box only or accompanied by a paper bag). The last entree I ordered was the chicken Caesar wrap and it was made to perfection. Instead of including the Romain lettuce, I was allowed to switch to kale. read more

I have no idea why we settled for Sweetgreen when we sort of knew better, having been here once before. Valois has been closing at three. After parking right across the street, we looked around for somewhere else nearby. Should have crossed back over and gone elsewhere. Short version: If you like Valois style regular food, you will probably not like Sweetgreen. We had the new garlic steak bowls. The steak was excellent. Tender and nicely seasoned. The sweet potatoes were very good except there was one piece with something nasty on the skin and I had to spit it into a napkin and wipe my tongue. Hand soap? Disinfectant? It was not food and it was not supposed to be on the food, that is certain. The wild rice mix was OK, little grape tomatoes and broccoli were fine. I did not like the pesto vinaigrette. I like pesto, and I like vinaigrette, but the combination was awful. Drinks on this menu are all very upscale. I picked a fancy brand of sugar-sweetened lemon-lime for spouse, unsweetened raspberry lime carbonated for me. Neither of us finished them. No "diet pop" of any kind because that is just too plebeian for the ambiance. Someone remind me that I do not want to ever eat here again. It's a lot of money for a cafeteria line. The salmon was nice and tender and paired well with the toppings (red onions, cucumbers, onion crisps, and sesame). I was in here earlier today. The associate that made my bowl was really sweet. However, the cashier charged me for extra chicken that I did not receive nor did I ask for after the associate who made my bowl confirmed the order out loud in front of me. Left a little upset because sweetgreen is already pricey as it is. So I feel like their associates need to be trained to price and serve correctly. Had I received the extra chicken regardless of wether I asked for it or not, it would have been fine because at least I got what I was charged for but I did not and it was almost a $5 dollar extra charge. I always tip due to working in the service industry as well but this completely discouraged me from ordering in store versus ordering online. That $5 dollar extra charge could have been a tip. I order the exact same salad every time I go to Sweet Green. Today my Harvest salad was a big disappointment. I had very few greens in my bowl, very much less than usual. I really wanted to take it back to get a refund, but I was too far from store. I had to eat that nasty salad. I have no tolerance for lack of consistency, especially when I'm spending $15.00. My family and I have been eating at this location since it opened and have been overall satisfied with the service and food until a couple days ago. My husband, daughter and I each ordered a Harvest salad, a Create Your Own salad and a Kale salad which all 3 were suppose to include chicken. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that there was no chicken in our salads once we got home and started eating. This was a big disappointment, especially considering that SweetGreen salads or bowls are not cheap. We feel that if the restaurant had run out of chicken, we should have been told and given a choice not to order. Instead, the employee was hoping we would not notice that there was no chicken which is very deceitful on part of the business. I like Sweetgreen but this particular location is way too inconsistent. On a weekly basis I'm there and ask for a build your own bowl. They let me choose my toppings for the salad base including chicken and rice and I'm done. Then one day I come in to place my usual order and I'm told salad bowls don't come with rice. I asked her if it was a new rule and she said it was always that way. The girl who told me this made my bowls in the past multiple times and never mentioned this once. I told her, I don't know what kind of bowl you want to call it but every other time I've come in here I've requested a build your own bowl and gotten rice. Never once was I told rice doesn't come with it, not even from you. You also have to pay close attention to the menu for all the ingredients that are supposed to come in their meals. I got the bbq chicken and squash plate 3 times before I was told almonds come in it. So 3 times I paid for an ingredient I didn't get yet they want to nickel and dime you for every little extra. They also seem to regularly run out of main ingredients hours before they close. One day I went in there around 5 pm and they had run out of spinach, mixed greens and romaine. How can a salad restaurant run out of salad? That's ridiculous. There are 4 grocery stores within a few block radius of this location and they're telling people 5 hours before closing time they don't have salad. Yesterday I went in there about 6:30 and they had run out of rice and quinoa. The place has potential, I do like their salads and plates but they need better management. read more

Sweet Green is helping me to accomplish my health goals and I'm so glad to have a healthy option in Hyde Park. The Southside's food disparities and food access is rigid. I just moved to Chicago from the Bay Area 10 months ago and missed Sweet Green and Tender Greens! I especially love this location because of the staff. They are always happy and attentive. My honorable mention today goes to Roosevelt Scott. He always goes over and beyond to serve customers and each time I've gone in -- he's been quick to solve problems when other staff were stuck on how to find a solution. A true self-starter and team leader. Work is much more fun with a laugh and a helpful coworker. I fully recommend Roosevelt for a lead/managerial position, if he's not already in one!
