Yes! It's as sweet as it's name! It's all about wise techniques on slicing frozen cakes, and frosting them with gobs and gobs of buttercream frosting, and learning how to decorate with different piping tips! My little girl loved it! After a lunch date with my boyfriend, he decided that he needed to get a couple things from Sweet Wise. With him being a good blogger, he'd been many times before. I'd never been before. Why would I? I've never cooked a thing in my life. Well I take that back, I've cooked box pasta before. I love pasta. Anyway, back on the subject at hand, Sweet Wise. Sweet Wise is located in a large strip mall on the same exit as Opryland Hotel & all the touristy stuff on that side of two. The store is larger than I expected. There are two sides of the store, one is the shop & the other is the university/larger whole sale where they get the items that are purchased on the website. I guess Sweet Wise has a large web sales present (again I don't/can't cook). The prices seemed a little high to me, but Phillip said that they've got great prices. I can see why people chare The selection is endless. This is really the place to go for your baking needs. I think it would be neat to take a class there sometime. I've always ordered my cake supplies and fondant from Sweet Wise via their website. Since I was going to be in Nashville for a few days on a trip, I just had to check out the store! It's a great store; lots of variety, for sure! They offer a lot of tools and products that you wouldn't find easily elsewhere. I purchased a few items while there; all things I could've ordered and maybe even saved on (it seems some prices are cheaper online) but I had to get something while there! They even have a kids corner for little ones to play in. My only reason for not giving a full five stars is that the staff really wasn't that friendly. In fact, they seemed a bit bothered to ring up my order. But, it's freaking Sweet Wise! I was still excited to see it in person. read more

I did the "mommy and me" cake decorating class with my daughter. My daughter had a great time and loved making her cake. It was great to have the time and supplies needed to decorate a cake without destroying my kitchen. The "class" didn't involve much learning or teaching. We were given our supplies and told to ice our cakes and the instructor iced hers. There was no instruction and no help, no walking around or explaining any details. My daughter was immediately frustrated because her icing wasn't smooth like the teachers. The teacher seemed bored and very rushed trying to get finished. She was moving on to the next thing before several people were done. Our class ended 40 min before the scheduled ending time. This is not a "class". And had I not had a groupon for half off, I would have been upset. The instruction wasn't even worth the $40 I paid. If your planning on doing the class for you and your child to learn cake decorating then its not worth it. If you want your daughter to be able to decorate a cake without having to clean up then its perfect. All in all we had fun and enjoyed the experience. This place is amazing! If you are a cake/cookie/cupcake lover this place will be your paradise! I found out about this place through a friend that took a cake decorating class there. I saw what kinds of cakes she was producing after only 1 class and her cakes were too cute! They have a good size store front that sells anything cake/cookie/cupcake related. You'll find a bunch of different cookie cutters that are priced very reasonable. They sell several cake pans, cake kits, sprinkles, fondant, food coloring, cupcake wrappers in multiple themes, decorating tools, etc...I could spend hours and lots of money in this place! The owners are extremely nice and always willing to give you helpful tips if you have questions. Another plus her pricing on her items in the store are very reasonable....great place to buy color sprinkles! A friend and I took a fondant 1 class. I thought it would be so hard to work with and it was actually pretty easy. I have to say I was impressed with the cakes we made after a 2 hour class! So - I'm pretty much reviewing the staff and the Buttercream I & II class, because I didn't spend much time in the store. From what I can tell, the classes are pretty good! They teach some basic techniques, that could probably be taught online, but it helps to have someone nearby to answer questions. She is really nice and friendly, and is a big help when you ask, but you definitely have to ask for the help. Otherwise, she'll mostly stay up at the front and just let you do your thing. I didn't really like the tools that we were given, as I'm not a big Wilton fan. While they offer a lot of cool products in theory, I've found that their cupcake liners aren't grease proof, and their piping bags and tips are a little weak. This store is FULL of Wilton products, and we used Wilton products for the class. I loved learning the techniques and am so glad that I took the classes. However, I think for the price, I'd look somewhere else for a more engaging class. As far as the actual store - I KNOW I will be back! They have everything a baker could dream of there! read more

The best customer service I've experienced in a long time. Prompt and online delivery. I can name a few retailers who do not call you before your order is shipped to say they don't have an item off your list and what would you like to substitute it with it. I so appreciate that call, because there's nothing worst than you waiting on an ingredient for your upcoming orders only to open your containers to find it was not shipped because 'it's out of stock'. I took Buttercream I about a month or so ago and it was really fun. The teachers are really friendly, you learn a lot of cute decorating techniques and you get to take your piping tools and your cake home with you after the class is over. I can't wait to go back and take Fondant I soon! read more

If I could give a rating of 0 stars, I would. Keep away from this website. The customer service is atrocious, the item descriptions misleading and dishonest and the way items are posted is an utter disgrace. Place your order with a reputable seller don't waste your money here. After seeing that this seller had an Amazon shopfront I visited the sweetwise website and placed a direct order for a number of Magic line cake tins. The complete range was not available via the Amazon shopfront. A promotion was advertised on their website, however, the discount was not applied to any items placed in my shopping cart. I submitted an online enquiry asking if there was a special discount code so I could place my order but never received a response. I stupidly proceeded to place an order of 12 tins ranging in size from 2"- 6". My tins were literally thrown in a box without sufficient packaging for their travels to Australia. All my items were scratched and one had a dent. Given the way these items were packaged, I cannot fathom how a charge of US$60 postage is justified. I contacted the seller with photos of the items as they were packed and photos of each individual tin. The seller proceeded to ask me if there were any openings in the box from which the packaging had escaped. After several emails back and forth, I was told that the customer service department had been instructed to provide me with a refund of the promotional discount and an additional 10% for the disappointment I experienced. To date, a refund of the amount that I was overcharged has not been received. I was informed that the manufacturer sends these items to sweetwise scratched. If this is the case, this company is knowingly selling on damaged goods and their customers have the right to know that this is what they are purchasing. I was assured that the scratches would not affect the performance of the tins. I was also advised that the way my order was packaged must have been a 'fluke'. Given the unacceptable response, a dispute was raised with PayPal. PayPal offered a refund so long as the items were returned to the seller. Considering my current experience with the seller and that I would have to shoulder the cost of return shipping, the items have been kept. The seller did apparently advise her shipping department 'that every package matters and that this one arrived not as well packed as it should have. Hopefully it gets them back on their toes and it doesn't happen again'. If this department is as effective as the customer service department, then buyer beware! read more

Stopped in while on vacation in Nashville after seeing they were based there. I'd hoped, based on some reviews from Google, that is would be a massive store with goodies packed and crammed into every nook and cranny, but found it to be a very organized bakery supply store with all the staples, and not as many crazy new things I'd not seen before. I would still be happy if this store existed in my area. The woman working was very friendly and helpful, and the store was clean, well organized, and very well stocked for the basics. Not a lot of the weird old-style things that collect dust and never move from the shelves of the supply stores in STL. Worth the visit, especially if you're looking for molds and gel or airbrush colorings. read more

I bought a deal for a cake decorating class from Sweet Wise and immediately started trying to schedule the class. I called the number on the deal instructions and the number on their website for more than a month. No one ever answered, no matter what time of day or evening I tried, weekdays or weekends. I left messages and never received a call back. I posted a message on their Facebook page, and finally received an answer on Facebook over a month after I posted it. By that time, I had already gotten a refund for the deal since they seemed to be a shady company who takes the money and runs. Maybe they aren't actually crooked, but the best case scenario is that they are extremely irresponsible and have no regard for their customers. read more

I have ordered twice from this company. The first time April 2014, I placed a large order that included icing bags, and a 25 pound box of Brill Meringue Powder. The shipping was reasonable, and quick. HOWEVER, I was missing the icing bags, which was replaced after SEVERAL phone calls to the company. They never followed up with an e-mail like the customer service lady said she would. Additionally, the meringue powder's expiration date was 10/2014. Barely 6 months! My next order was just for some icing tips, and around that time, I needed to break into my Brill Meringue Powder. It was AWFUL! My royal icing took a REALLY long time to dry, it dried wrinkly, even more so with a dehydrator, and the colors bled. I e-mailed the company, on a Friday, and the following WEDNESDAY I called to say I had not heard back. I think that THURSDAY, after calling AGAIN, the manager finally e-mailed me, and said Brill makes a quality product, and there are instructions as to how to use it on their site, and I could not return it. PERIOD. No negotiations, no compromise. This was the response (ONLY) I received: I apologize for the delayed response. S___ did forward your previous email timely. I'm sorry you had such a tough time working with our Brill Meringue Powder. We test all of the products we sell and Kathy really likes this meringue powder not only for its price value but also for its flavor and workability. There are even a couple videos on our site showing Kathy using this meringue powder successfully. Also, we have had really great feedback from other customers who also like the value, workability, taste and overall quality. The Meringue Powder is fresh, it just doesn't have a long shelf life intrinsically. Because of it's freshness, it may have a lighter weight to it. This means that a half a cup of our Meringue Powder has settled less than a half a cup of theirs. We would suggest measuring by weight instead of volume.To receive this product with more than 6 months of shelf life remaining should be more than sufficient. At Sweet Wise, we care greatly about providing great customer service and I apologize if we have failed to do so in your case. Although it is against our policy to accept returns of edible items, we do accept returns in cases where the product is defective or damaged. However, this would require return of the product for our examination. Since you mentioned throwing out the product, it is not possible for you to return the unused portion and it is not possible for us to issue a refund. On a side note, as you know many food products with the same name act differently from brand to brand and from application to application. For example, Brand A might work great on roll out cookie recipe 1 while not performing well on roll out cookie recipe 2. When working with new ingredients or new applications, it is important test small batches before going to full production. read more
