I wandered over here for a treat after having lunch at Baw Baw's, a new bbq restaurant just down…read morethe street. I've actually visited this spot before hoping for lunch. I think it's technically a dairy bar, of which there are several remaining in the north Alabama / southern TN area - a few of which are also, somewhat confusingly, named Kreme Delite. However, the other dairy bars I've visited have slightly more extensive menus than this one (usually including chicken tenders, burgers, and other typical fast food items, though usually done better than a McDonald's or Burger King). This location only offers ice cream (soft serve) creations and hot dogs. Limited options if you want a real meal. On this visit, however, I just wanted a treat. They have soft serve in scoops or cones, milkshakes, and I believe soda floats. You walk up to counter and order while staff waits on you at a window. There isn't really any seating that I recall; I ate in my car. That said, service was supremely bubbly and nice -- the young woman who took my order was very friendly and warm. My order was prepared quickly. I got a cup of vanilla and chocolate soft serve swirl. I didn't want it to be completely plain so I got crumbled Reese's cups on top. The pricing is a little...confusing, I guess. A small cup of ice cream is $2.94, which given the size of the serving, is extremely generous. However, to add any toppings, it's $1.88 for each topping. This seems like a lot for crumbled Reese's. It was a LOT of crumbled Reese's, so I guess not completely incongruous pricing, but personally I'd prefer a small smattering for like .99 cents rather than a veritable candy bar on top of my ice cream for almost $2. Idk, maybe that's just personal preference. Anyway, my MASSIVE treat was decent! I have a strong preference for fattier, denser ice cream as opposed to soft serve, but for what it was, the vanilla and chocolate both were fairly flavorful. They were also both quite smooth, as good soft serve should be. I enjoyed the pile of crumbled Reese's cups on top. Personally, I don't think I liked it well enough that I'd return with any particular regularity, but that's probably more a personal preference than anything. If you like soft serve treats, I imagine this place would do the trick quite well.

This is a small little bakery; technically they have daily lunch specials but there's very limited seating so it's more of a grab-and-go type of spot. They also have premade dishes in tall coolers if you want to take and reheat something as an appetizer or an entree. Great for on the go engagements or as a quick fix for a family that needs feeding. There's also a selection of packaged breads made in-house and a dessert case. The service was extremely nice! I had a lovely chat with one of the employees. The only major complaint I have was that the store smelled really weird and unpleasant when I visited. I have NO idea what it was from -- I couldn't place the smell. Maybe a dish I don't like? Maybe the yeast for the bread? Not sure. It looked clean and had a good health code score, but the smell was rough. At any rate, I grabbed a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for right then, as well as a slice of Elvis cake (iirc) and a snickerdoodle. The strawberry pretzel salad had a pretty strawberry jelly top and was packed with lots of cream cheese filling! It was good, though I do wish there had been a thicker pretzel crust; sometimes I felt like I was mostly eating pretzel crumbs instead of an actual bottom of a layered dessert. Still, definitely yummy! Hubs and I enjoyed the Elvis cake later. It was super moist and sort of reminded me of a hummingbird cake. My snickerdoodle was special (peanut butter snickerdoodle? Coffee snickerdoodle?). It was a unique combo of flavors that you don't typically see but sadly I'm far enough removed now that I've forgotten exactly what. Regardless, it was good! Stop by and treat yourself sometime!

Along for the ride in my favorite sister's quest for the best locally made sourdough bread, we visited Suzanne's last month. It's small, and I think it may have had 2 little bistro style tables inside, but it may have had 3. There are several refrigerators on the floor with grab and go items such as a ground beef-based "John Wayne casserole," pimento cheese, various casseroles, maybe a 3-bean salad, chick salad, broccoli salad, and more. A stocked confection counter is where you order and pay. They had really cute Halloween cake "pops" for sale and their "sour dough" bread was on a small display on the right as you enter. They offer hot lunch specials daily Tuesday-Friday, 11-2 and a soup of the day at 6.49, ranging from said John Wayne casserole to chicken poulet and stuffing. We missed the lunch window and didn't purchase any of the grab and goes. The staff here are patient and friendly! Really nice! Sister and I each got a loaf or 2 of the sourdough, sister tried one of their confectionery items and said it was good. I also got two of their giant chocolate chip cookies for the hubs. The unanimous verdict on their sourdough bread is it is a good bread, especially for toasting; however, sourdough it is not. The bite I had was sweet and fluffy. Hubs and sister agreed it was delicious bread, just not sourdough. So, it's back to Publix for sourdough. Don't plan to eat in if you go to Suzannes, I told sister, "I guess most people get their lunch to go and eat it in the car, parked here, or back at work." Thanks, Suzzane's! I'm happy to have visited your shop and to see all you offer!

I'd seen a little bit about this place on Instagram and was impressed by the way their products looked but otherwise didn't have any particular expectations. This spot is off Jordan Lane, north of Popeye's. There's a substantial parking lot and I could hear pleasant Spanish pop music being piped outside when I stepped out of my car. The inside of the restaurant is more spacious than I thought it would be and there's plenty of seating plus some claw games and other fun stuff. I can see kids/families having a great time here. Of course, not too many kids to be seen at like 1 PM on a Wednesday when I visited...but you get the picture, lol. My entrance made a bell ring and a staff member came out from the back within a minute. Their menu is in Spanish and English, so no trouble there. They have sweet and savory snacks from churros, fruity ice pops, and ice cream to elotes and tosti locos. They also have drinks like fruit waters and mangonadas. Like I said, I was definitely craving churros and ice cream, so I ordered the smallest thing that combined both of those, a churro sundae. That wound up being 3 scoops of ice cream and 2 large churros (for only ~$12!!) and it was absolutely way too much for just me, so bring a friend! For what it's worth, I had no trouble at all ordering and paying while speaking English. Rudimentary Spanish (especially for food items) might make your experience a little smoother, but I honestly wouldn't worry about it. I was allowed to select any combination of ice cream flavors, which was unexpected but very nice. I was a little overwhelmed by the selection but wound up with two scoops of Ferrero Rocher and one scoop of Snickers. Their ice cream is homemade and is super duper creamy and smooth, but for the generous chunks of goodies (like Snickers) mixed in. Both flavors were delicious, but I think I actually liked the Snickers flavor better! Next time. Also to my surprise and joy, my churros were served warm in the sundae! The combo of hot, crispy, cinnamony churro with cool and smooth ice cream was TO DIE FOR. The churros were absolutely perfect and exactly what I was hoping for when I came in. I'm so excited to have found this place and look forward to coming back for more treats!

I was surprised to find it in the old Whisk'd location -- RIP to Whisk'd; I loved that restaurant. Street parking only but the street is quiet and it's easy to pop in and out. Inside there's a huge array of confections: classic chocolates like turtles, chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows, etc., as well as fresh baked cookies and a somewhat startling amount of freeze dried candies. I know that's sort of having a moment right now, but WOW there was a lot of freeze dried stuff to choose from. I don't dislike it but I prefer chocolatey treats so I skirted around the big display. I came about 1.5 hours before closing and will admit the selection (other than freeze dried) was a little sparse. I'm glad they're not letting products go to waste, but in the future, definitely come early if you want to ensure you get everything. More than one customer asked/called in for something only to be turned away while I was shopping around. Of course, the holidays might also have something to do with very high demand. Anyway, I wound up leaving with two cookies (only about four varieties were available when I arrived -- I took a chocolate chip and a brown butter cookie), three chocolate covered pretzels, and one pecan turtle. The service was limited to being rung up at the cash register, but the employee was nice in our limited interaction. My husband and I enjoyed all the treats over the following days! The chocolate was smooth and rich on pretzels and pecans, the caramel chewy and satisfying. The pecans and pretzels were both crispy and fresh -- no problems with staleness here. The cookies were good, too, though perhaps a tiny touch oily. I liked the brown butter better but both were enjoyable! They're the perfect size to share. I'd definitely return here for sweets!
