Fluffy pancakes, sandwich combos, and avocado toast
Gloria M.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon specifically for their fluffy pancakes. I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to run the risk of waiting for a table as there is very limited seating. With that being said, the cafe is in a quieter area so there wasn't much people when I was there. I visited with three other friends and we got sweet somethings' fluffy pancakes (one order has two pancakes, ~$16.50), sandwich with soup combos (~$13), and avocado toast (~$10). While their food was not bad, I wouldn't say it was the best either given its price point. The pancake was slightly deflated when we got it and more dense than expected - the lemon flavour was a bit strong for my personal taste but my friends enjoyed it. With that being said, my friends did like their sandwiches and I liked my avocado toast as well. Overall, I likely wouldn't return to this cafe again as it is out of the way for me. If you want to make the trip for their fluffy pancakes, whether you like it or not will depend on your taste/texture preference. Sweet Somethings is a cute local neighbourhood cafe with good service and I'll give this place a 3.5 stars (rounded up to a 4) for that. P.S. the cafe has no customer washrooms and make sure to show your yelp check in for 20% off!!

Cupid's coffee: rose milk latte in waffle cone
Ally S.

Got the Cupid's Coffee (rose milk latte) This was a limited time thing. It came in a waffle cone lined with dark chocolate. My friend and I went when I was a bit sick, so my sense of taste and smell was a bit off, but from what I did taste I did like this. It had a very faint rose flavour (again, that was probably due to me being sick). I got the avocado toast with an egg ($10.25) From what I was able to taste, I really did like it. I found that everything tasted really fresh! Would recommend. My friend got the grilled cheese to which I had a bite. There was a LOT of cheese! Again, from what I could taste, it was really good! I'd get this when I go back!!! The service for the food was kinda slow, but the guy at the register was super nice. Overall, I'd go back here!

This place is so adorable! The service is so so pleasant and welcoming. The cookies are so good however the lemon tart was even better! Unfortunately there was no bathroom here due to small space however highly recommend to come study or with your friends on afternoon coffee.

Radiator in the middle of the floor, restricted space for three of the five tables here.

Came in for brunch with wife and daughter, drove from Deep Cove with a lot of anticipation. Reservation required and made, got here and only one of the five tables occupied. Ordered coffee, told no filter coffee, only Americano...130 pm at a brunch restaurant on a lazy Sunday and no filter coffee. Daughter ordered Fluffy Pancakes, drove across town for this and got two pancakes, 2.5 cm thick and 10 cm across with strawberries and whipped cream. Eggs and greens (mixed salad with one poached egg) disappointed, title implies at least two eggs, you can have any style as long as it's poached, asked for soft poached and that got screwed up, my egg could have been used on a clay court. Asked where washroom was, told that they don't have one for the public because it would mean having customers walk through kitchen, directed to Shoppers Drug Mart across the street. Strange to find a 'restaurant' serving sit down food and drink without being required to provide on site restroom. All in all, I regret the trip and the disappointment for my shut-in daughter. Too bad I have to give even one star.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Have seen Gary's fresh mango cakes all over IG and with my Dad's recent birthday I convinced my…read moresister to order one, instead of our usual mango cake from Saint Germaine bakery. Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

Excellent bakery and cafe with delectable baked goods especially…read more We tried the following for Croissant Crawl and they were all excellent. - mushroom tart - really great flavour, very crispy and crunch on the outside - strawberry croissant tart - this is so beautiful you don't even want to break into it to eat it, but the fruit is wonderful and fresh, the pastry very crispy and crunchy, amazing texture and as a package it is awesome - pistachio and mango cruffins - these are good as well. Crunchy and the inside is flavourful. - cheese tart - I think this is my favourite. Really smooth and wonderful cheese, the crust is solid and crunchy but not too much. Just really wonderful. Would definitely come back.

I believe they were one of the first places in Vancouver to really bring these fruit-shaped desserts to the forefront, and then slowly everyone else started following the trend. The mango is definitely my favourite. It's light, fruity and refreshing and the white chocolate shell gives you that little crack when you bite into it. I tried the clementine/orange one as well and I would probably skip that one next time. It's mostly cream with not a ton of cake. The good news is that the mousse is pretty light, so even though there's a lot of it, it doesn't feel like an incredibly heavy dessert. The pastries and desserts are definitely more about the experience and presentation, although there are some really good options beyond the fruit ones too.

Well it seems ownership has changed and the new owner doesn't give two craps about prior customers, honoring discounts, replying back timely or being more friendly? Was playing email tag and finally submitted the 39 flavors and didn't hear back until after another week and then told they won't deliver only in morning when they know our reservation was for 730pm and they're open until 9? I even replied back and nothing. We own and run several business in lower mainland and in United States and this customer service from Unni Pastries is trash. At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy. You should've at least replied back and even tried asking us to do pickup as the restaurant is down the road. Do better! Go to Mello which isn't too far and they bake fresh daily better pricing and reviews and consistency!
