Two words: red velvet. Okay, two more words: whoopie pie. Put em together and you get something so simple, so delicious, so [insert positive adjective]. The gals running [or driving] the Sweet Ride are super nice and will explain anything that is questionable, like "What exactly is a whoopie pie?" [-My question]. It started with me looking at cupcakes, particularly the trio of minis that were on display. I got to the window and inquired about the whoopie pies. Imagine two cupcake tops sandwiching marshmallow fluff. Bam. Whoopie pie. Sweet Ride's red velvet whoopie pie is delish beyond words. I THINK I like it better than the cupcake counterpart. Why? Well, there comes a time when eating a cupcake that there is no frosting. With a whoopie pie, you get fluff with every bite. Perfection. The truck itself is super tiny. It's like SmartCar small. Super pink, super girly, but do not be fooled by the femininity of this truck, because the desserts pack a punch like Pacquiao. I can't wait to encounter Sweet Ride again. It appears I have found a [new] dessert...one that might actually take over my fondness of cupcakes. Only time will tell..

Me: Look out window, see Sweet Ride truck, yell: Oooooooo!!! Ask husband: Want something? Husband: Don't like sweets. Me: Ok. Run outside, buy Whoopie Pie and Salted Caramel Cupcake. Me: Return to apartment, say to husband: Want bite? Husband: Sure. Takes bite: Mmmmm, good! Me: Want? Husband: Yes. Me: Run outside, buy more Whoopie Pies! Husband: Teach you to use articles. Me: Teach you wife know good sh*t. EDITING TO ADD: Yeah, so I also bought myself a Salted Caramel Cupcake. I took one delicious bite and made the mistake of putting it down for a second. Along came the Hubby, picked it up and ate the rest. All the while proclaiming that it was delicious and that he normally does not like sweets, but that I never told him the cupcake had real caramel in the center. And, wouldn't you know it, the truck is now gone, so no cupcake for me. So sad!

First of all, they really do live up to their name. This lil hot pink truck with flames and spinner hubs is pretty Sweet, and full of Sweets too. This is the first cupcake truck I've bumped into, so I was excited. They were unfortunetly running low on Sweets during my first encounter. I picked up an original Whoopie Pie and a Chocoloate Cupcake. I ate the Whoopie Pie myself, but shared the Cupcake. They both have a mild sweetness, which is nice that it's not all sugar, but I favored the Whoopie Pie more. Some people have complained that Whoopie Pies are dry, but that's by design. They are not moist spongy cupcakes, they are two rounded halves of sugary bread surrounding whoopie creamy goodness. They wouldn't even taste good if they were make like cupcakes, not to mention they'd be a bit messy to eat. Since my first visit, I "Liked" them on Facebook and am able to track their whereabouts, as well as sales and new items. You can also "Follow" them on Twitter. On my last visit I picked up a Red Velvet Cupcake and a Red Velvet Whoopie Pie. The cupcake was just ok - I think it needed a bit more sweetness to it - but the Whoopie Pie was great. I guess I'm a Whoopie Pie guy (woe, that rhymes!). The Whoopie Pie did have distinct chocolate taste unlike the cupcake. Give em both a try and let me know what you think. I think I'm just hard on red velvet since my I haven't found anyone that makes it better than my friend does. So yes I'm a fan, and so long as they are in close proximity to where I am, I'm sure I'll find them. I'll probably only stick with the sales though, because the goods are a bit over priced if you ask me.

I visited this truck a few months back and recently discovered it again when I was in search of a pick me up to help work go by faster. I had the red velvet first and it was delicious! The frosting was perfect. It wasn't too sweet, the consistency was nice and smooth and it melted in my mouth. The cake was super moist and tasty. The portion size was perfect. I can't remember how much I paid for it since that was a while ago. This week, I stopped by in search of that red velvet cupcake. I came a little after 1:30 and the truck wasn't ready! :( I went back to my office a little disappointed, but I went back about an hour later and they were ready. Unfortunately, the red velvet was sold out. I tried the salted caramel cupcake instead. I think I needed to give it a bit of time before I ate it since the cake was still a little hard after being in the cooler. The frosting seemed hard as well, but most likely since it was chilled to prevent all the frosting from melting. The cake was good - not as moist as I recall the red velvet one being, but OK nonetheless. I tasted the cake by itself and didn't really get the caramel flavor out of it. However, I did enjoy the frosting very much. Overall, good cupcakes and I will definitely be back to get my hands on that red velvet one!

So when i'm planning my own parties I try to make sure I have fabulous appetizers and desserts. This past weekend we celebrated my son's bar mitzvah. We chose to bring in our own dessert vendors. I knew we would want Jo Jos Shake Bar since it's always a hit with kids (and adults too), but also wanted to have a fabulous sweets table. For my daughter's bat mitzvah we did it at ravinia festival and they had brought in a bunch of different dessert vendors including Desiree Chocolates. Her desserts were not only delicious (i ate the leftovers for about a month from my freezer), but also absolutely beautiful. When my event planner suggested we reach out to Desiree for sweets I was all in. Desiree made the process pretty easy. We set up a call to discuss our needs and decided on a sweets table + a churro cart. Then many months later we got together for a dessert tasting, which my son claims was the most fun part of the mitzvah planning process. We loved it all, but even added a few of our favorites to her menu- cheesecakes, carrot cake to name a few. The sweets table and churros cart were absolutely perfection and I love how she did a great job of tying my son's tennis theme into it too. I had a few bites of sweets that night since i was too busy socializing to eat much, but i took home a few trays of desserts and fudge and have been munching on them ever since. This time I only took home a bit because i didn't want to eat it for a month like i did last time, but we did have quite a bit leftover - probably since a lot of people filled up on Jo Jos Shake Bar. However, I've had so many compliments since the party on Desiree's cake pops, churros and other desserts so they were a big hit once again. I would definitely use Desiree for future events again- she makes fabulous sweets and displays it all beautifully!

What an amazing offering of items to choose from! The cake pops were well received, and who doesn't love a chocolate covered oreo? I think I had one of those Dubai candy bars that are all the rage (or maybe were all the rage, I'm often behind the trends) and it was one of the best things I've eaten period. The custom churro bar is lots of fun and would be easy to set up wherever you need it. And everything is decorated perfectly, from the confections themselves to the tables and plates they sit on! Desiree Chocolates is a great option for whatever event you've got, just bring your sweet tooth!

The Biscoff Cookie Butter flavor first stormed the scene as a "pop-up" Bundtlet in fall 2025. It's back by popular demand from 1/5-2/15/26. Opening the container, the cake itself had a light brown/tan color. The official description is a Bundtlet baked with Biscoff cookies and drizzled with cookie butter (and of course their delicious, sweet cream cheese frosting). As usual, the texture is superb, with one of the best aspects of their cakes being the exceptional moistness of them. In this case, the cookie butter drizzle contributes to the moistness factor. The flavor of the actual cake leans toward generic spice or cinnamon. Bites containing the cookie butter drizzle and/or pieces of Biscoff Cookie make the signature flavor pronounced on the taste buds though. The Biscoff cookies are not crisp, but soft. I can't really hold this against NBC because unless eaten immediately after prep it's almost impossible to keep them crisp. It's also important to note that the cookies are baked throughout the cake and not just the conspicuous one decorating the summit. My only real complaint is it was a missed opportunity not to include cookie butter as a filling in the core, especially since this had a dollar upcharge. With the similar enough Snickerdoodle flavor being recently discontinued, I would like to see the Biscoff made a permanent member alongside the OREO Cookies & Cream (their best in my opinion). Still, another great flavor from NBC. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews My top bundt cakes: 1. OREO 2. Biscoff Cookie Butter 3. Confetti 4. Churro Dulce de Leche 5. S'mores made with Hershey's
