They loved the food of Oahu, which I fully agree, is flavorful and fantastic. and I'm glad to see they're making their way south *come to Houston next?!* Location & Parking - 3.5* (5* if walking) I always like making a visiting to CS since my days living here. What I don't love is the level of change for the worse as real estate developers (in this case a PPP b/w Midway and the University) continue to bleed college kids, or their parents, for more money. So what am I ranting about as it pertains to Coco Shrimp? The parking sitch! This gem of a food spot is located in Century Square, which in itself is excellent for walking to if you're a student on campus or nearby resident. It's not so great for locals or anyone who has to drive here. The spaces are pay to park all around this area. Now, it is gratis for the first hour if you register in the ParkMobile app, and that is only good once per day. For Coco Shrimp that's plenty of time to dine and enjoy a quick catch up with friends, but no hanging around unless you want to take your chances with what are surely underpaid parking attendants just doing their jobs for the RE overlords. For reference, 1-2 hours it is $3.00, for 2-3 hours it is $4.00. Check the Century Square website, or the parking app, for the latest pricing. There is a solution to this, but I'll end this rant here. So off the bat, the whole pay to park just grinds my gears as an old timer who remembers a much different Aggieland. I'll go yell at a cloud now. Interior / Vibe - 5* Once you handle your parking situation it's all on the up from here. The interior layout, character, and vibe is solid. It definitely has the island life and chill vibe you get with little spots on the island. They have plenty of seating to meet a group of friends and they are quick to greet you. All of the interior was very clean and well kept. It shows the workers take pride and enjoy it here. Food - 5* The concept is simple, which is what makes it genius. They offer primarily rice and salad with your choice of shrimp options: spicy, sweet & spicy, butter garlic, lemon herb, or a sampler. Breaded/fried or grilled only for the options. I inhaled my entire meal, it was fantastic and I would easily eat here frequently if given the chance. The taste of Hawaiian island life is here and it's delicious. Service - 5* It's counter style ordering here and they do their best to locate you when your order is ready. They are quick to greet and they are really helpful in guiding you through the menu options. I love the sustainability aspect of providing a souvenir style cup that makes for a great cup at the house but also a discounted refill cup when you return. Really solid on their part. Cost / Pricing - 4.5* I say it all the time, this is subjective. I find it to be good value. Is it the same cost as a food truck in Hawaii that will get ya a meal for $5-10 bucks? No, is it a solid portion of fresh rice and salad, shrimp, and quality to bring it and satisfy a normal appetite? Absolutely. I think it's a fair balance. Overall - 4.5* I'm rounding up here since we can't score half ratings. I am tempted to knock it to a four star given the parking, but it's not entirely in their control aside from leasing elsewhere - I'm sure they wanted to be close to campus for strategic reason. As someone who worked in the industry, knows the work it takes day in and day out, I couldn't be happier for these folks. I'd love to meet them and have very real conversation about a Houston location. There are plenty of staples to visit in the BCS area, but this place is definitely one of my faves to visit in DFW or CS when looking for a quick, fresh bite. Come check it out!

Think the clear winner was the original Coco Shrimp -- the butter shrimp, spicy, and sweet/spicy were all good, but were maybe trying a little too hard. Generous rice portion with the platter (enough to make this into two meals with leftovers). Great service, tasty hibiscus tea. Note that this is in Century Square, so you have to deal with that parking situation.

My kids don't really care for it, but they'll smash it if I force them to lol. Anyways, I'm not really super familiar or know how authentic these dishes are here, but I still thought it was delicious and flavorful. They have a left-to-right style buffet line to include and drink and dessert station. There's also a little bell that you ring if you want 1 lamb shank. They only give you one so I got my kids to ring it so I can smash 3 of them lol. The lamb shank was a but bland, but super tender. The salad bar area had a lot of flavorful and fresh cold dishes. The meat items were honestly, all a but bland, but with the help of some good ole salt, it was pretty delicious. The desserts were ok, pretty sweet for my taste. The staff are friendly and fast. Free parking is located in the garage for about a 5min walk, otherwise, paid parking right in front. Be sure to pay if you park in front because they will tag you and make you pay like it's a legit parking ticket. Lots of tables to dine at and the restaurant is very clean. I used to live around Hempstead, Prairie view and Waller a couple years ago when I first came to Texas and it was kinda hard finding good places to eat ' I'm not gonna lie I was scouring yelp for about 30 mins before I stumbled across Burger House. I even got to the point where I asked some locals and they said Burger House was a burger staple in C station. Upon looking at the photos, it seemed like a burger that you make at the house to be candid. When I pulled up, I was like "oh wow this place look like a straight shack that's fasho." I decided to go through the drive-through & when I pulled up to the drive-through the gentleman who took my order was hella welcoming and just overall nice like he was happy I pulled up. I swear I was the highlight of my visit. I ended up getting the combo , bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink, and it was for decent price too. The burger itself was mediocre if I'm being honest, the meat lacked some seasoning, though the fries were pretty decent with a soft inside, light crisp outside. I like the fact they put the lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on the side instead of in the burger which can make it soggy. So there was some attention to detail. The Bun though? That thang was soft on the outside and was lightly toasted on the inside, which was dope. Would I be back? If I'm being honest, just to say wasup to the gentlemen who took my order and that's about it!
