Quick service, food was good and fresh. The waitress seemed a little shy, couldn't hear her and she mumbled but was attentive and we were happy overall

Chicken Fried Steak and okra is really good! Mashed potatoes are not good taste like hospital food. Bathroom doors need to be wiped down. Service is decent and restaurant is clean.

Huge crispy chicken salad and the rolls are so moist and delicious!! Super nice waitress Marisa!!!!

We've been to this cafe many times over the years. The food is decent, and the wait staff is pleasant. Today's lunch was exceptional! From our server, the cheerful, efficient, respectful Samantha to the food, I thought it all worked to fuel us quickly to get back on the road. As you can see from my photos, the steak was a good thickness. The fried catfish was fresh and crunchy, with house-made tartar sauce that had a nice amount of pickle pieces. Samantha checked on us and made us feel welcome.

Fettuccine Alfredo with charbroiled chicken was delicious and had good service when I called in the order for pick up.

**This place does NOT serve breakfast -- something to keep in mind if you're visiting!** My fiancé and I stopped in for a bite while we're passing through to our wedding venue. Since it opens at 10:00, we were hoping for some breakfast -- but the only serve lunch. Not a big deal, but a little disappointing. We had the friend zucchini, the chicken fried steak sandwich with fries, the burger with fries, and coffee. The coffee is some of the worst I've ever had -- definitely avoid! It's weak and just tastes like hot water. The rest of the food was pretty good. Nothing stunning, but not bad either. The fries were the best part of everything we tried. The service was decent and we got our food quickly. The restaurant itself is pretty dated, but it's clean -- everything you can expect from an old-fashioned Southern cafe. There's also a 3% upcharge on all tickets if you pay with card instead of cash. Wasn't a big fan of that either. All in all, nothing terrible, but nothing impressive.

Stopped here on my way to the coast and had a fantastic experience! I ordered the lunch portion of the pork chop, and my husband had the lunch portion of the chicken fried steak. Both dishes came with huge portions and were absolutely delicious. The breading on the chicken fried steak was perfectly seasoned. The service was excellent, and the staff was very attentive. I highly recommend this place. Their menu has a wide variety of options, so there's something for everyone.

Found this place on the way home from Galveston. The food came out piping hot, and super tasty! Our waitress was very kind and attentive. But the star of the show had to be the massive chicken tenders. So crispy and delicious!

Bunch of car club friends were looking for grub between Austin and Jefferson, Texas. We picked Hearne as our meet up spot for lunch. Really nice Texana style restaurant with lots to choose from. Might as well have some complimentary cornbread and rolls! Our table totally destroyed the basket of bread; prolly could have eaten three baskets lol. I had fried catfish with mashed taters (brown gravy) and fried okra. Good stuff except I prefer dill to sweet pickles in my tartar sauce. GF had the chopped steak topped with grilled onions and brown gravy. Sides for her were red beans and rice and spinach (canned). Also in photos my buddy's modded chef salad with blackened fish. Very few complaints and full stomachs as we headed further east. Great service too. See yall next trip!

Horrible food. Horrible service. I know the choices are slim in Hearne, Tx. but I would go to Mcdonalds before I go back to this place.

We were SO very glad it worked out that way!! Everything we had at Ama's was excellent overall. I agree with the other reviews that some of the food lacked a little seasoning (specifically salt) but that is such an EASY FIX and nothing to really complain about in my opinion. It's so much better to add your own salt than to be served food that's too salty. We loved the chunky guacamole with perfectly made pico de gallo, and the combo fajitas with rice and beans. Chips and salsa were okay. The cheese enchiladas with ranchero sauce may have been the best we've ever tried. The sauce was perfectly spicy. I wish I had that those enchiladas right now to be honest! The margaritas were great too. If Ama's wasn't three hours away, we would be visiting very often. Although I'm unable to recall her name right now, our server was great too! We will definitely stop by Ama's again on the next road trip out that way.

The chips were nice and crispy and they were warm and the salsa was tasty. I like that the chips were not over salted. When the server came to take our order, she seemed to be confused by the fact that I could not eat sour cream and other people did not want guacamole. Which resulted in extra side orders of guacamole and a plate of sour cream. I ordered the barbacoa plate and my dining companion ordered the lingua. Unfortunately, the Barbacoa was not very good. It seemed a bit dry and did not have much flavor. Lingua was actually pretty tasty. It's a family place, I saw several families dining. Overall, I believe in second chances maybe if I ordered something different on the menu I would have had better experience.

So I had to park get out go in and get my hot mustard sauce... to top it off I had to wait in line as there was no one really there to help. So why the 4 stars you ask... THE FRIES I GOT WERE FRESH! HOT! CRISPY! AND DELECTABLE! I have not eaten at a McDonalds in years but if I could get fries like these every time, I would come daily! Ohhhh my Goddie toooo Hottie!! I love these fries when they are fresh!! They were so hot I almost couldn't eat them... almost... lol. Good fries will make up for a lot of things in this world... wont they?!

After waiting nearly twenty minutes, I finally reached the speaker. The employee sounded distracted and asked me to repeat my order multiple times. While mistakes can happen anywhere, the interaction felt rushed and unorganized from the start. When I reached the payment window, I was told to pull forward and wait in a designated parking spot. I figured it would only take a few minutes. Instead, I sat there for what felt like forever watching several cars that arrived after me receive their food and leave. After roughly another fifteen minutes, I went inside to ask about my order. The dining room appeared understaffed and chaotic. Customers were waiting near the counter, and several people were asking employees about missing items. When I finally spoke with a staff member, they seemed unable to locate my order at first. After checking several receipts and asking another employee for help, they found it and apologized for the delay. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't much better. The fries were barely warm, the burger looked like it had been sitting for a while, and part of the order was missing. I returned to the counter again to have the missing item replaced. The employee was polite and corrected the issue, but by that point the rest of the meal was already cold. What made the experience most frustrating was not any single mistake, but the combination of long wait times, confusion about the order, and inconsistent food quality. Fast food is supposed to be convenient, and this visit felt anything but convenient. Again, this is only a fictional example, but if an experience like this occurred, it would likely leave a customer disappointed and hesitant to return.
